((This post is before the Walking the Tables thread.))
Z'ki and Nyasith Z'ki was waist deep in the river, sweet sand in one hand, a rag in the other, as he scrubbed down his dragon. She had almost fallen asleep, but seeing as she was no long small enough to carry, Z'ki had promptly started talking to her in the hopes that she would stay awake. For the most part, it seemed to work.
"So, Nyasith, what rank do you think I'll get when I'm a full blown dragonrider? I don't really have many options, I suppose. I could be a wingrider, or a Weyrling Master, though I think that job is R'sul's. Is it possible for green riders to become Wing Seconds? I don't remember."
I never remember.
"Well, of course you don't, you're a dragon. Part of being a dragon is not being able to remember very long, that's part of why you have riders. We can help you remember stuff. Are you excited about Thread? I mean fighting it, of course. Who would be excited about Thread itself?"
You would, apparently. Ah, look, there's someone over there to save you from further embarrassing yourself. Or maybe the other way around. Maybe you'll let me sleep if you're talking to someone else.
Z'ki turned around, and sure enough, there was someone standing there. He raised one cloth-filled hand and waved it, sending dripping water all over his face. Not that he really cared. He was already soaked.
"Hello over there! Have you ever met a dragon? I'm sure Nyasith here wouldn't mind meeting you."

Garset looked at the silhouetted figure of a dragon and Weyrling standing in the lake, the rider waving his hands hastily, obviously trying to catch his attention. "Hello there, I'm Garset." He replied, getting softer with his talking as he got closer. He walked up to the pair, and Set was all too occupied examining the green that he paid little attention to Z'ki. The rider was thin, and he gave a vibe that was friendly and eager to talk to someone, so Garset, with his love of animals and all, couldn't refuse his offer to meet Nyasith. "I would love to meet her!" He said with enthusiasm."And again, my name is Garset."

Z'ki and Nyasith "Garset? I'm Z'ki. Are you, by any chance, a Candidate? You're very lucky if you are. A chance at a dragon is like a chance at finding your other half, even if your other half is very lazy." Nyasith, as expected, didn't even comment on her being lazy. It was a well known fact in the Weyr that she was. No, when she spoke, it was directed at something else entirely.
Do I have to get up to meet this person?
Z'ki sighed and turned to his dragon. "Yes, you have to get up. I've finished cleaning you, anyway, all that's left is oiling, and that's done on dry land anyway."
I'd much prefer just lying here for a while.
Get up anyway. This person obviously wants to meet you, and by Faranth, you're going to meet him!
Awefully pushy today, aren't we? the dragon grumbled before standing up and, slowly, in a way that clearly said. "I don't want to do this," climbed out of the water and onto the bank.
Z'ki turned back to Garset. "Sorry about that. She's really actually very nice once you get past the lazy exterior."
No one ever seems to be able to get past the lazy exterior, though.
Z'ki ignored the comment. "If you want, you can go up and scratch her eye ridges or something. She won't bite. I promise."
It was just then that Z'ki's scared little firelizard popped out of between, chittering about something or other. That was, he was chittering until the mutated brown saw Garset. Letting out a squeal, he quickly dove onto Z'ki's shoulder, hiding his head behind the Weyrling's neck. Z'ki rolled his eyes. "Burrow, he's not going to eat you or anything. Not that he'd be able to catch you even if he wanted to. I don't see what you're so scared about."
Yeah, if you die, you die. You shouldn't care. There's nothing to worry about. The brown let out another squeal and began digging into Z'ki's clothes. He glared pointedly at his dragon.
