3 men go to a hotel to get a room for the night. The manager says its 30 bucks. Naturally, they split evenly, 10 dollars each. During their stay the manager realizes he made a mistake as the room was actually 25 dollars. He gives the bellboy 5 dollars to take to the men. Now, the bellboy wants to make sure he gets a tip out of this so he takes 2 dollars for himself and gives each man 1 dollar. If you were to add this up that would mean that each man payed 9 dollars each. 9 x 3 equals 27. The bellboy took 2 dollars so it totals 29 dollars.

Where the f*ck did that last dollar go? >_<

Or!

30 - 5 + (5-2) = 28.

Your math equation is sux.

And the question is wrong. Each man would have paid 9.333333333.......

well, he payed 30, he got back 5, he kept two for himself (3 left to give out), he gave 1 dollor to each of his room maits and one to the manager (3 handed out). The manager is a man to.

EDIT: the bellboy is not one of the me in the room, so he takes 2, then gives the 3 men 1 each

either way works

Eyeolas, you read the whole thing, right? Because you should go over it again.

What do you mean "he payed 30?" Who is he? There are three men. And the manager isn't getting any dollars back.

I've heard this one before, and the math is messed up. Yart is correct.

Basically it goes like so:

They paid 30 dollars
Dude takes 25 sends bellboy to return money (5 dollars)
Bellboy keeps 2, and gives each man (Which there are 3) a dollar, for a total of 3 dollars given. So with the 25 that the manager has, the 3 that the men have, and the 2 that the bellboy has we come to 30.

Each man did not pay 9, they paid 8.3333333333333333333333333333333
Go ahead, plug that number into your local calculator multiply it by 3, then add in the 2 that the bellboy kept, and the 3 they had returned to them and you have 30. Basically the last dollar went when the number was rounded up to 9.

Personaly I think the bellboy spent the last dollar his way up and got a cup of coffee or chips or something out of the vending machine.

Sky and Roflo: That's what I said in the edit, it just wasn't clear. They pay 30, the bellboy gets 5 back from the 30, he takes 2 (3 left) and distributes the 3 to the 3 men in the room. Sorry, I used he too much
