Today was going to be brilliant. Today, she was going to spend time on her newest project. After her first experience with them, she knew she had to get a Sarane of her own. They were creatures of great power and indomitable will. It was amazing, watching them face off in a tournament setting. Even those who knew nothing fought vigilantly. It was almost inspiring in an odd way, to watch even the weakest among them stare fearlessly into the eyes of their opponents. Nina could only imagine what it must be like to command a fully trained, battle ready Sarane.

As a bright gold male, he was quite the specimen, too. Apparently, he could also breathe fire, which could come in very useful. Those injections were beautiful little things, as she understood them, though she never got the chance to use one herself. From what little she knew of them, it would seem like quite the unpleasant experience for the receiving creature. It completely reworked things within their bodies to give them new abilities, and she couldn't imagine there was any way to do that painlessly. Nina wondered if Alexi had felt pain from his experience... and if he would have accepted that pain knowing he would walk away more with a powerful new ability for his trouble.

They moved slowly toward the park. Though she carried a chain to restrain him with, she did not yet consider it necessary. Trust was more important to her than obedience. A creature and its trainer should fight side by side, hand in hand. If she could start building that relationship by showing him respect now, hopefully they would be getting along famously in no time. Hopefully.

Alexi was already proving himself somewhat stubborn. It took her some time to encourage him to do anything, it seemed. Nina was thankful that he had already been broken of his naturally indignant spirit by his previous owner. That really did make her life easier. Apparently, they were even more difficult to get along with before that process, and it did not seem like something she really wanted to participate in if she could avoid it. Though faster and stronger than a human, she was likely difficult to repair. Emphasis on the 'likely' part, since she had not yet had to find out the hard way.

It took them longer than she would have liked, but they managed to make it to her favorite training spot. Most experienced trainers seemed to have a spot in the vast public park where they preferred to do their work. The main part of the park was inundated with people training Vultici to sit and Enileaf to respond to their names, of course, but the serious trainers knew to wander into the wilder parts of the park for a good quiet spot to call their own. It was especially important to be alone when training things like, oh, breathe fire, for example. Patches of scorched grass and melted bushes riddled the less cultivated part of the park for exactly that reason.

Nina spend some time to look over Alexi a little more closely in the sunlight. The pattern on his coat was rather nice. Though it seemed rather unimportant, she quite liked it. The gold color of his scales reminded her a bit of the sunset. Looking over his tail, she wondered about the rudders on his tail. For stabilizing flight, maybe? The Brown Sarane she had worked with before did not have anything like it. Hopefully, it would prove to be an advantage.
