Welcome to the Hidden Crossroads!


Preface

Some of you may be already familiar with the site, while some of you may be completely new to it.. We will show you everything there is to know about the Hidden Crossroads - assuming that this is your first time here.

If it is not your first time here, and you're already familiar with the game, we suggest you read this tutorial at least once anyway, just to freshen up. :3

The very first thing you'll want to do however, is read through our Rules of Conduct - as these apply everywhere on our boards.. Then, come on back to the tutorial section, and continue with the introduction.


Introduction

First, we'll try to give you a sense of what the Hidden Crossroads truely is.

Hidden Crossroads (which we usually just call "Hidden Xroads", and sometimes even "HxR") is a roleplaying site, dedicated to several "pet adoptables"...

I suppose it would be wise to start by telling you what a "pet adoptable" is...
An adoptable site is a simple (and free) site, which gives out images of little creatures, which you can take the coding of, and host on your own web pages.. profiles, forums, signitures, or whatever... Usually, all these sites ask in return for one of their free "pets", is that you give them credit - usually by simply leaving the code that they give you in tact. Sometimes, these creatures are more special than just "pictures".. sometimes, they change and grow.. Did you adopt an egg? Did you one day look at it, surprised to find that it had hatched into a baby dragon? Well - that's what these sites are all about.. Free art, for the entire world to see and enjoy.

There are several of these pet adoptable sites that we specifically support.. they are:
Magical Menagerie Laboratories
Evelon Sanctuary
The Draconic Sanctuary
Dragon-Wing Freehold

Each of those sites have their own storyline, style of art and working, etc.. but all of them run roughly the same.. and all of them can be played with here on the HxR.. And even though we request you keep all of them in their respective "place" here on the forums - there is an area, known as "beyond" - where all of the creatures from those places can interact 100% - but we'll get to that later. *wink*


Now.. surely it must be boring to just have a picture of a pet on your website, sitting all by itself.. doing.. basically nothing, right? Well - I generally think so, yes. So - this site was created! :D

What do you DO here, specifically? Well.. in a general summary...
You take pets from the various sites - and build yourself a nice little home (or several) in various places around here.. you can train your pets, feed them, play with them.. play with other pet owners, and their pets.. You can train them to do silly tricks (like roll over) - or you could train your monsters to do something far greater - like... "call thunderstorm" - it really depends. If that's not enough, and just playing with your pets isn't enough.. we have several other "mini games" (which are far greater, actually) - such as gardening, mining, building a city, breeding creatures, having contests (like, for agility or beauty) for your pets.. or even sending your pets into the "fighting pits" - to battle against other players' pets! Wait.. that's not enough? How about you join the army, and leap right into the central storyline - joining a war? How about you earn "money" on this site, and buy items - or even special creatures from the marketplace? How about you pick up a sword, and head out into the wilderness with your faithful saber-tooth companion - and slay the great dragon to claim the treasure and rescue the princess? Well.. you can do that too! And best of all.. that's not all! We really can't summarize correctly, just what all you can do here - there's just so much! Perhaps you just want a place to put your pets, and socialize, without ever setting foot into the game itself..? Yup - we allow that too. :3

I've probably lost you by now however.. don't worry - we'll walk you through the whole thing.. from how to use this site.. to the basics of how to play.. all the way to the more complicated aspects of the game (which are 100% voluntary).. so don't worry - just start on Chapter 1 - you'll do just fine.

And as always - if you ever have any questions, we have a Help section designed just for that.. but please try to read through the basic tutorial first. ^.^;
