Well, this was... fun? No, not really, poker was fun. Although coming to the Breeding Center was certainly more fun than doing nothing, which was about all she got to do these days. And there was the fact that she had actually volunteered this time, so she couldn't exactly claim that she'd been forced into it. So she'd just have to settle for 'better than last time,' or maybe 'interesting,' and leave it be. Because at least she hadn't gotten lost this time and at least the orabaru she was holding wasn't flailing about and she wasn't tempted to drop it on its fluffy little head and leave it to its own devices. No, she was actually halfway fond of this one. He was actually asleep, and therefore quiet. But no one had asked her opinion.
The avian paused in front of the room they'd been allotted and looked down her beak at the snoring creature she'd carefully nestled in the crook of her arm. He was almost cute like that... Yeah. Cute. But for some reason she just couldn't bring herself to get rid of him, or the rest of his 'clan' for that matter, so she may as well... just... get... more? There was a flaw in that logic, but she didn't have time to deal with it. Renna pushed open the door and headed straight for the huge cushion she had spied in the corner, onto which she dropped her sleeping charge. He fell like a stone, flopping into its depths like a creature drugged. Fallout hadn't so much as twitched since they'd left the kennel, and if that last trick hadn't gotten him, he most likely wouldn't now. Well. Good luck to whatever female he'd be dealing with.

The girl was already there, and waiting. She had arrived ridiculously early, about 30 minutes early to be exact. She had a thing for not being late, as it was always a big fear for her. Being early allowed her to make sure she wouldn't be a hindrance to anyone, but being late meant that she was what was holding up everyone else. And she hated that feeling. As she saw the other Orbaru and it's trainer arrive, she let out a small sigh of relief. It was glad they came now then later, considering Mizu was becoming restless. She had dragged the poor girl away from her playmates in the middle of a game of "catch the shiny coin and see who can hold onto it the most without being dog-piled" and it was safe for her to say that she was not too pleased by Sakora's actions. Once Mizu saw the new person walk in and sit down, she instantly rushed back to Sakora in fear to hide behind her legs. The poor girl was shy. She always had been, and it took way too long for her to warm up to anyone. Sakora had been hesitant of bringing her here in the first place, because of the fact that she might not even allow the male to interact with her before fleeing out of embarrassment. Sakora gave a small smile of a greeting and picked up her little Orbaru, who then proceeded to nuzzle herself into the crook in Sakora’s arm to hide her face. Her tail dangled out, whipping back and forth like a pendulum. She gave a weak smile at Mizu and sat herself down next to the other girl. Slowly, she set Mizu down on the ground next to Fallout. This was no easy task, as Mizu clung on for dear life. The Orbaru just refused to let go, and Sakora ended up having to use two hands to pry her from the death-grip she somehow managed to form on her arm. { 334} 2/60

Oblivious to the world around him, Fallout snored on. Only the steady rise and fall of his green-furred chest kept Renna from worrying, although she still couldn't keep herself from nudging him experimentally in the side with her foot. Sans talons, of course. The orabaru responded to her by twitching a paw slightly and turning onto his side in a single, great, pathetic flop, then lapsing into motionless once more.
The crest feathers on the top of Renna's head flattened back against her skull and she chirped quietly with irritation, but she let him be for the time being, instead turning her attention to the other girl and her orabaru. The blue female's scrabbling seriously reminded her of a few of her own pets, namely Fallout's grandmother Spot, and her expression softened a bit with sympathy. And perhaps a bit of amusement. Even if the other girl found such behavior endearing, which was always a possibility, there was only so much of it one could tolerate...
She settled into her chosen chair and inclined her head in greeting, unable to return the smile due to a certain difference in facial construction. She couldn't help but wonder just how early the other had gotten here, seeing as - for once anyway - she herself had been right on time rather than tragically late, yet the room had already been occupied by the pair. But she didn't ask. Instead she tilted her head to the side a bit and watched the proceedings with feigned interest, allowing her crest to rise up again to complete the picture.

Sakora couldn't help but stare at Renna. She had to admit, this was the first time she had ever seen one of her kind up close. Sure, she saw a few in passing on the street, but never actually engaged in conversation. They were always an interesting bunch to look at. All had different kinds and colors of feathers, and she had to admit she enjoyed the variety. Sure, humans had variety too, but not in such a beautiful way. She felt a bit awkward after a while, as it was being prolonged more than it should have. "Sorry for staring. Sakora, by the way." She hoped that introduction did justice, as she wasn't really sure how else to say it.
Slowly, she pushed Mizu towards the other Orbaru. With it being asleep, it might give her a bit of courage knowing that he wasn't moving and couldn't notice her presence. At first Mizu refused like normal, running back to Sakora and trying to hide behind her legs. But, after the fourth of fifth push, she reluctantly started to inch closer to Fallout.
As she dragged her rather large feet forward by step, she would pause after a couple of them and stare back at Sakora, who would give her a small nod of approval.
"Sorry about her, she's really shy."
Once Mizu got only a few inches away, she examined the other Orbaru's sleeping self. Even she had to admit that his coat was a rather interesting color, and the orb on his tail certainty looked brighter than the orbs on the male Orbaru back at home that she always played with.
However, she was still scared to touch him, and more scared of waking him up. Not knowing what to do, she just stood there. By now Mizu knew that if she tried to run back to Sakora, she would just keep pushing her towards him. She looked at him again and wondered why on earth the two of them were dragged into a room like this.

"Staring? I hadn't noticed." Renna chuckled lightly and shifted in her seat again, running her hands across the dark fabric of her vest to smooth out any wrinkles that may have popped up. It didn't really help. She'd have to iron it. "I'm Renna." She inclined her head again as she spoke, keeping her eyes on Sakora as she did so, giving the overall effect of someone peering curiously over the top of their glasses. But she didn't actually have glasses, so the effect was somewhat spoiled. "It's nice to make your acquaintance."
The unfamiliar noise was was beginning to rouse Fallout, disrupting his dreams of butterfly chasing and bringing him slowly back into the land of the living. He resisted by squeezing his eyes shut as tightly as he could, hoping that if he ignored them they'd go away so he could go back to sleep. But he wasn't having any luck. He could vaguely recognize his person's voice, now, and some other sound and... Fallout's nose began to twitch, taking in the somewhat stale scent of the room, picking up on the scent of orabaru. An unfamiliar orabaru. Slowly, he gave up and cracked an eyelid. What he saw was a blue female, very similar to one of the ones back home, although this one looked frightened... he opened his other eye and began to scan the room without moving his head. He didn't scent a predator, but why else would she be quivering like that? He booped softly, curiously, but remained still.
"She's fine, shy means cautious, and that's always a good trait for a small animal to have. Fallout, however, is a lazy blob." Renna winked and slouched down in her chair to get more comfortable, sticking her feet out in front of her and ignoring the new wrinkles in her vest.

At the sight of movement from Fallout, she squeaked softly in surprise. She hadn't expected the other Orbaru to wake up so quickly! She wasn't sure what to do at this point, seeing as how neither of her options were very good ones. If she ran back to Sakora, she would just push her back to the male, maybe even closer than she stood now, and if she stood her ground, then that would require confrontation with him. Because Mizu could not make a choice, she stood there, frozen. However, she did not remain there for long. Once Fallout made a noise, Mizu sprung into life. She turned around and ran back to Sakora as fast as her large feet and tiny legs could carry her. She clung onto her shoe like if she let go, some unknown force would drag her away.
Sakora sighed and picked up her little Orbaru. She rotated Mizu in her arms so that she was holding her belly up like a baby an softly cooed at her. Sakora gently stroked Mizu's stomach with her pointer finger a few times. This calmed her down a bit, and definitely stopped her from shaking. Mizu let out a small purr of comfort. Smiling, Sakora gently put her down on the floor again, and to Mizu's dismay, right next to Fallout.
"I have an Orbaru like that too," she admitted, "he just sits around and sleeps most the time." She watched Mizu slowly take a step towards Fallout, looking back between him and Sakora every few seconds. As she watched her little Orbaru, she couldn't help but wonder what the others were doing back home. She knew she had removed Mizu from a game they were playing, but as their attention span was not something they should be proud of, the little gang must have gotten into some sort of trouble like they always do when she wasn't there to watch them. This thought made her curious about Renna. Surely she had more than one Orbaru also. People in this city either had many or none at all. She had never met someone with only one or two. "So, is Fallout your only Orbaru?" she asked curiously.

The smell of fear coming off of the female was very distinctive, very strong, but her eyes were focused on him. Not behind him. Not on some unseen predator. So if there was no immediate threat in the room, why was she so terrified? He certainly wasn't going to do anything to her, he didn't even know her... Mizu's sudden squeak made him jump, his head jerking up off the pillow in surprise. But then she was gone, a blue blur streaking away to cling in terror to a shoe.
Not that he knew what a shoe was, mind you, his owner didn't wear them.
Fallout dismissed her with a yawn. Oh well. Not his problem. He stretched grandly and turned over again, closing his eyes and resolving to get back to sleep no matter what. Maybe next time he woke up he'd be back home. Admittedly, this spot wasn't as nice as the one he'd managed to claim back home; a soft bed in the sunshine, a corner away from all the noise and loudness of his family, a pillow that didn't smell funny. He picked his head up again and gave the pillow he was laying on a curious sniff. Almost instantly he made a face and got to his paws, leaping clear of the cushion and slowly making his way to the other end of the room where he'd spotted a window, his tail dragging behind him. He didn't even see Mizu. The only thing on his mind was getting up onto the sill and taking a nap in the sunshine, even if he wasn't at home. That, and getting away from the smelly pillow. He'd have to groom that smell out if he didn't want everyone mocking him later on.
"I have several, actually, one in every color but albino... if I remember correctly, they are all actually related. Somehow." Renna watched her orabaru slink across the room, his back to her and his potential mate. She wasn't clear on exactly who was related to who, or even how as she wasn't really all that great with keeping records on that sort of thing, but she knew that they were. One big clan. Like the human's 'mafia'. But without the deadly force and with a whole lot more rainbow fuzzies.
"You?" Sakora had to have at least one other, she had mentioned it, but she had no clue if anyone else owned a mob of them like she did. And she really didn't even have a use for the things... the avian had begun to pick vaguely at the hem of her vest, a habit she had and a tell that sometimes gave her away at cards.

Mizu hadn't expected Fallout to get up. In all honesty, she didn't even know he had moved. At that moment, she was too busy looking at Sakora to notice the other Orbaru move past her. However, she did notice when he ran into her. The force from his body was greater than her own, and caused poor Mizu to tumble backwards onto the ground. At first she laid there in shock, not knowing what to do.
But slowly, a tear started to appear on her face, and then another. Small whimpering sounds started to come out of her mouth, and they started to get louder until she was full out crying. Tears gushed out of her eyes and she still laid there on her back on the ground, making the most pitiful "boop" and "sqeeee" noises that were quite loud.
Sakora laughed a little. Renna had just as many she did, and her opinion was yet to be proven wrong. Everyone either had many or one at all. "I have one of every color too, and another albino."
Sakora was startled by Mizu. She snapped out of her conversation and instantly rushed over to her poor Orbaru. "Shhhhh," she said softly as she put Mizu back on her feet and started to stroke her back slowly. The poor thing. Every Orbaru back home was aware Mizu didn't like to play rough, and would always avoid tripping or pushing her because of how easily she tried. In fact, she cried more than the little juvie Orbaru of the group, which was saying something considering he was just a little Orbaru, and she was a full grown adult.

Fallout was as startled by the collision as Mizu was; and he hadn't gotten off unscathed either. The force of it had caused him to stumble backwards and sit down hard a few feet from her, his tail crumpled up underneath him. Where had she come from? The last he knew, she had been behind him, hadn't she? Or maybe he'd just fallen asleep on his paws again and hadn't seen her... but that didn't seem likely. He would've sworn... He shook his head to clear it, blinking the sleep from his eyes and letting his ears flop over his face for a moment, more out of general laziness than anything else. He just sat like that, right where had fallen, trying to figure out what to do next and what he had done wrong.
And then the female started whimpering.
He hadn't hit her that hard, and it hadn't even been on purpose. What was wrong with her? Fallout shook his head again to get his ears sorted out before getting to his paws and taking a tentative step in her direction. Maybe he could go and groom her ears to make her feel better, like he did with his sister... just about then Sakora came rushing over and he had to backpedal to get out of her way, stepping on his own sore tail in the process. What was going on? Confused, Fallout gave up entirely and made a mad dash for the relative safety of Renna. Maybe he could nap over there and not get into trouble...
When Fallout jumped into her lap, Renna reflexively began scratching his ears to get him to calm down, although she was more worried about Sakora's Orabaru then him. "He didn't hurt her, did he?"

((Sorry, I had a busy couple of days. ^-^;))
Once Renna asked Sakora checked Mizu. It didn't look like she was hurt. Since she had a habit of crying at little things, she had stopped checking for major injuries. But, there was anyways a small chance.... She picked her up by placing her hands underneath Mizu's elbows and lifted her gently. Mizu stopped crying for a bit at first out of shock of being lifted into the air, but she the tears started coming again, but she didn't make a noise.
Sakora turned her around a bit to look at her back and tail, and from what she could see, Mizu was absolutely fine. She was probably just surprised from the sudden outburst from Fallout and the fall to the ground. It was more surprise crying than pain crying, she guessed. Gently, she placed the Orbaru back on the ground, who then used one of her small paws to wipe away some tears on her cheek.
"No, she's okay. Just startled," she replied in relief. Sakora would hate to have to take Mizu home now. If she did without this trip being enjoyable to Mizu, her little Orbaru would never want to come back here again. That might be a slight problem if she had any other breeding plans with her.
Once Mizu was finished clearing off her face, she looked upwards at Fallout, who was sitting on Renna's lap. At this point she felt a slight fear about the Orbaru. At first she was just being shy, but with him making her cry, she was not looking forward to being stuck in a room with him. But at least Sakora was still there with her for protection.
She took a small step towards Renna to get a closer look at Fallout. The angle she was currently in didn't give her a good enough view. While she was making her way around Renna, she wasn't watching where she was going, as her eyes were fixed on trying to see Fallout. Mizu tripped over one of Renna's feet and plopped right back on the ground again.

(( 'Tis fine, Life takes priority. ^.^ ))
"Good, I'm glad she's alright!" Renna made a little whistling sound as she exhaled a breath she'd been holding. The other girl's orabaru was fine. Not only did that mean she didn't have to pay vet bills and worry about possible legal repercussions, it also meant she wouldn't have to feel guilty - and that no harm had come to such a cute fuzzy little... thing. But mostly the last bit, of course.
The avian continued to methodically scratch Fallout's ears, chuckling silently to herself at his soft boops of contentment and relaxing a bit as the apprehension of a moment ago melted away. If only people were so easy to please... He'd halfway closed his eyes now, and was starting to drift off back to sleep, his face nuzzled down into her feathers and his long tail coiled around her leg.
But she found her attention again pulled away by Mizu.
"No offense, but your orabaru, what is her name? I don't believe you mentioned it... She seems a bit clumsy." Renna pulled her foot back about an inch and a half and hopefully out of Mizu's way, keeping her expression carefully neutral and laughing a bit to show that she wasn't offended. Inwardly though, she couldn't help but wonder how this was going to go anywhere if Fallout kept dozing off and the female kept scaring herself silly.

"Uh, it's Mizu. And she isn't usually this clumsy. Her eyes are still a bit watery after she cries, so she can't see that well until they dry out," Sakora explained. She hope Renna didn't question how she knew that, because there wasn't really much of an explanation that Sakora could give. She just noticed that whenever Mizu cried she got clumsy on her feet, and she assumed that the reason was because of the tears. She never tested it out, but there wasn't really a plan to, considering that time spent testing out such a theory could have been used to do other things.
Mizu stood up from being knocked to the ground again. She wasn't trying this time, as all of her tears had run out. She tried very hard not to make any squeaking noises, but one escaped her mouth anyways when her foot slipped and she came tumbling back onto the ground again.
Today was just not her day. She was dragged away from a very fun game in the outdoors and the sun to a room in a building with a stranger and an even stranger Orbaru who didn't want to do anything but nap. To make matters worse, he was getting his ears scratched! She waned her ears scratched too!
And, she didn't want to bother Sakora because Renna was closer. Watching Fallout enjoy his little treatment made her want to see what the fuss was about. Mizu tried once again to walk over to Renna's foot and attempt to stand on the tips of her toes as she reached to try to get to Renna's hand. The attempt was a bit silly to look at, since Mizu didn't even reach fast Renna's knees.
"Mizu, what are you doing?" Sakora asked, mostly to herself rather than her to Orbaru who obviously couldn't understand a word she was saying. She let out a small sigh before reaching down to pick her up, only to have Mizu jump out of the way and try to reach Renna's lap again.

"Ah..." Her voice trailed off. She couldn't really think of a suitable reply to that. Did it need one? Odd as it sounded, it made sense. It clearly and logically followed that it wasn't the orabaru's fault, not really, and that pretty much was that... So she simply sat silent, her beak open a fraction, and watched as the bleary-eyed Mizu got to her paws, only to fall again with a single, pitiful squeak. Renna closed her mouth with a soft 'click' and began rubbing Fallout's ears again with a vengeance, not having realized she'd stopped in the first place. Well, at least Mizu wasn't crying this time...
The sudden force of his person's pets brought Fallout drifting back to wakefulness, his boops of contentment turning to sounds of protest. He squirmed a bit just for added measure, and was rewarded with a few light pats and a much softer stroking. Pleased, he began booping contentedly again and even gave Renna's knee a few licks of approval. This was much nicer than napping in the sunshine!
"Does 'Mizu' mean something?" The blue orabaru had climbed up onto her foot now, and was looking for what? 'Pets'? It was either braver than she had originally given it credit for, or it was trying to make up for looking pathetic. Renna slowly reached her free hand down to where Mizu was perched, curious to see how she would react.
"No, it's okay, I don't mind..."

((I'm going to go on a limb and say Japan and its language doesn't exist in this world. xD))
Sakora thought about it. She never really named her pets after anything. Usually, she just put random syllables together in her head until she thought of something that sounded appealing. Not really knowing how to answer she just shrugged. "Not really, at least, I don't think so." For all she knew, Mizu could have meant something in another specie's language.
She was glad however, that Renna didn't mind her Orbaru being a pest. She really shouldn't be bothering her, as she had an owner with perfectly usable hands, and if she wanted a head scratching too, she should know to come to Sakora instead of bothering others.
When Renna's hand reached down in front of Mizu, she sniffed it first to make sure it wasn't dangerous. When she was satisfied that nothing bad was going to happen, she took one of her overly large feet and stepped onto Renna's palm. Slowly, she pulled her wait up and tried to gain traction with her other foot on Renna's forearm. Mizu's tail wrapped around her wrist and she tried to pull herself up. However, since she was an Orbaru and not very slim, her weight was just too much for her little arms to bare and she came crashing down on the ground again in defeat.
She had absolutely no idea what her Orbaru was trying to do. "Mizu, stop that," Sakora said as she scooped her up with her hands and held her in her arms. She was being rather silly and out of character right now, and she had no idea why. Sitting herself back on the bench, she looked down at her little Orbaru and asked, "What do you want?"
Mizu gave no reply, and tried to struggle out of Sakora's arms. Even though she was starting to flail a bit, Sakora held onto her. She didn't want her to cause any more trouble until she had calmed down a bit first.
