So this was the place, was it? It wasn't as interesting as the graveyard, but he supposed it would do. It was a new place to explore, after all, and Ashe liked exploring. He'd heard all sorts of things about this place, about how it changes from time to time and never seems 'right', never stays the same for more than a couple of months or so. It looked just fine to him... If a little bit different from the normal fancy-schmancy houses that everyone else seemed to have (himself included). Money was easy to come by in a world where training giant creatures was a profession, and fighting those creatures in the pits had huge rewards, and contests, and mining... He could go on. But he was here to investigate this strange place and see what was up, why there was a steady trickle of people coming in and out here. Not at this moment, of course, but enough of a trickle to spread rumors of wonders and treasures and such being found here. And Ashe was all about rumors. In the spirit of curiosity, Ashe brought along...death. The Spirit of death. He revealed the amulet and touched it fondly, then murmured a little spell that would summon the spirit bound to it, bound to him. Out came the most adorable little pudgey black dragon creature, stretching its form out and giving the cutest little yawn. Yep, this was a Spirit of Death. Charon Loyalty: 0 1/5 ----------------------------------------------------- Charon blinked his eyes and looked around. He wasn't used to being awakened and coming out of his amulet, coming away from his slumber and dreams of the outside world. But here he was, summoned and outside, in the dim light of an overcast sky, not the brilliantly colorful beauty he'd expected. But this was beautiful in its own way; everything was subdued, peaceful, quiet. Except for the intense pounding of the heart behind him. Slowly, Charon turned and eyed Ashe suspiciously. The human was loud; breathing loudly, that beating coming from under his neck coming to Charon's ears loudly, the way he even -thought- loudly... Charon could feel it. These things meant life to him. Life, the living, was where he would be, until death claimed them... They each had their own clock ticking down the moments until Charon was needed; but he'd stay with the human holding his amulet, for all intents and purposes his 'lamp', for now. At least to see what would happen along the way... Charon Loyalty: 0 2/5 This post has been edited by Ashe on Sep 30 2011, 03:06 AM

Charon was too cute. Upon placing the order at the veil (partially to piss off Yamase, partially because he wanted to know what these were and since he had the money to blow, he threw it at the first chance) he hadn't known what to expect. He'd wanted a spirit of death, something to be customly conjured, customly sealed, and then...this was how he had come. Ashe didn't have any idea what Charon -did- yet but he would find out soon enough. Maybe today would be his lucky day and he'd find out some of this stuff while exploring the mansion. How kickass would it be to have a little tiny dragon like this suddenly turn into a monster and start killing things. All that power stuck in a tiny body...
Ashe cleared his throat suddenly, more to distract himself than anything else. He should think of the here and now, not lust after power. He had Alaska, he had a new Vulticus, he had Dracula and Maverick and Inyala and the twins... Hell, he even had a plushie that ate hearts... He could find something amazing about a death dragon too!

Charon was unaware of -what- Ashe was thinking, but he felt the hum of life, the hum of brain cells actively moving. He floated closer to Ashe's face, inspecting him. His cute little muzzle was inches from poking Ashe's eye out (and at this point, Ashe was thankful to anatomy and magical science, that the horns were pointed caudal rather than rostral) when Ashe exhaled heavily into his face. He was, first off, curious about how Charon would act (Medusa, Maverick, and Dracula, for example, all reacted differently to this). Secondly, he'd heard it was a type of bonding exercise (it sure worked with Maverick; the stallion learned his scent quickly). And thirdly, he wished to ward off a popping-out-the-eyeball attack, whether by accident or on purpose. Sure, he'd wanted the little dragon to be powerful, but not attack him, you know?
Charon reeled back a bit; Ashe's breath must have been rancid or something, judging by the look on the little dragon's face. Charon brought his forepaws up to his face and vigorously rubbed it, his tail lashing back and forth in mid air. He sneezed once, rubbed some more, then blinked up at Ashe sweetly.

It was a strange place- And that was saying something, being what this land was and the strange inhabitants of it. " Nothing here seems to be what it first appears to be, now is it?" Kade didn't responsed to the equally strange cross-bred, walking silently along a cobble stone path with eyes keeping warrily on the looming mansion ahead. This was the place where he had found an odd egg before, and where many other inhabitants of the neighboring houses wandered nearby. Now however, the green grass seemed to range every colour but green, and the trees only looked like trees every-other glance. It was something to say his paranoia had fallen to a low enough level; wanderingtowards an unfamiliar place that kept changing with a creature that could not only kill him but could speak its own mind would have caused his earlier self to think himself gone mad. But no, he wasn't mad. Save for the never ending irritance and short fuse for everything and anything, he was simply...bored. Stuck in a rut of waking to the same monstrosities attempting to slaughter each other, very little for food and cash, as well as the lack of constant feeling of being persued. Oh, he knew he was- But there had been no attempts to get at him for over 2 months now. It was time to really look over the small city, and see all it had. He wasn't an idiot though. Hands burried deep within the pockets of the red-hooded coat and hood remaining over his head, Kade glanced around only once before walking up to the front door.

"Charon," Ashe murmured in greeting to the little guy. The dragon looked over at him and blinked his little eyes curiously. This was the first time he had officially been awoken since he had been 'born', and the world was quite new to him. Curiously, he floated toward Ashe, taking in his master. He tilted his head first to one side, then to the other, considering Ashe's face closely. Ashe's lips turned upward in a smile at the sight of the little dragon's antics. The sudden movement startled Charon and the dragon leaped backward through the air, catching himself with his hind claws out behind him, tail erect, front legs braced as if he was on the ground.
Then he was inching forward again once he saw that Ashe wasn't making a move toward him in a threatening manner. He was quickly distracted, however, when someone moved into the little dragon's line of sight, walking up to the door of the mansion that Ashe and Charon had been slowly approaching until Ashe decided to stop and play with the Spirit. Following Charon's gaze, Ashe saw the being (he recognized him a bit from that party at Sky's once, but didn't remember a name) an the amazing crossbreed that was with it. Eagerly, he headed for the door to get a better look, with Charon floating along behind Ashe.

The thudding sound startled Ashe, though he showed no outward sign of it. His nerves tensed, his hair standing on end, but instead of jumping or letting out a cry, he simply froze where he was. He knew the danger wasn't a threat to himself or Charon, so there was no need to turn and defend- but where did it...?
There! Movement! Ashe's eyes locked onto whatever it was that was moving. Apparently it was the building itself- shifting like quicksand... Unless his eyes were playing tricks on him. He gazed at it, then looked down from the ripple and saw a boulder or... No, that was a pile of tiles that had crashed! Well...what the hell? He blinked.
Charon had long since located the cause of the sound and wasn't concerned with it. He floated himself up higher into the air, getting a better vantage point to watch the goings on. The current interest, the humanoid and the creature, weren't being too interesting.

Well, they'd better actually get inside before the building decided to throw some tiles their way this time. Ashe reached up to brush against Charon's tail as he walked, showing the little Dragon where they were going now. Charon tilted his head cutely, his tail pulled up along his stomach and over his shoulder ever since Ashe had touched him (he was protecting his favorite possession! While also seeing if this was an attempt to play), and then followed along with Ashe right above his right shoulder.
Ashe reached the door and tugged it open, letting himself in and holding the door for the little amulet Spirit. He didn't need to; Charon had darted through the first chance he'd gotten and was now leading the way. Ashe let the door slam shut behind him (though the odd thing was, he never heard the click or the thump, but the door appeared closed) and chased after his little mischievous spirit. It amazed him how the mansion could be so different depending on the season... This was some powerful magic.

Okay...so this was a lot different than Ashe was expecting. The room he had entered was dark. So dark he couldn't see Charon anymore, even his pale underbelly. He -could- see his hand in front of his face, though, but he wasn't sure if that would be because he had rather acceptable night vision or if it just wasn't as dark as it appeared. He squinted, trying to make out shapes all around him, but saw nothing substantial. He continued forward, his hands out at his sides and in front of him to make sure he didn't hit anything as he walked. He had a great sense for knowing when there was something in his way, just sensing the presence of it, something everyone had at least a little bit of in a sense if they thought to relax and think about it.
There was a giggle off to his left. Whipping his head around, he barely managed to dodge as Charon dive-bombed him. "Hey!!"

Charon giggled again and flew up toward the ceiling. Ashe lost sight of the little Spirit and rolled his eyes. He had to fight a light or something in here, help him out. He stopped suddenly, hearing a strange sound in the next room. It sounded like a crackling, maybe fire related? Then there was a whistle and a boom that shook the whole house. Thinking they were being bombed or something, Ashe dropped to a crouch low to the ground, waiting to see what happened next. He could just imagine the war was starting - most people had forgotten about the possible war that had been brewing with all the violence happening on the outskirts, but not Ashe. He still looked for rogues whenever he went out for a ride, in the hopes of bringing one back for questioning. Or torture.
Charon dive-bombed Ashe once again, terrified of the sound. He landed in Ashe's arms, looking for a cuddle and an armpit to hide his head in. Ashe was careful to avoid having his eyes popped out by those horns, but provided the armpit.

When the little dragon was sure nothing was going to attack him, he began to squirm in Ashe's arms. The horns dug into his bicep and his ribs before he finally released the little dragon, grumbling about how rude it was to abuse him in this way. Charon didn't care. He peeked his head out, free now, and then lifted into the air and away from Ashe. He was bored and curious and he wanted to investigate. When Ashe didn't follow him immediately right next to him, he twisted around in the air and looked at him from under his tail tip, the tuft of fur falling into his eyes.
However, this adorable look was lost on Ashe. The human couldn't see it in the dark, and therefore couldn't respond to it. He got up, dusted himself off, and glanced around the dark room to make sure no one had seen him act like this because of some random boom that hadn't even happened where he was. It was embarrassing... Never again would he be startled.

Random Event! As you wander the mansion, a sudden, sharp whistle peels through the air as a firework speeds towards the sky, bursting open moments later! The sky lights up in a wonderful show of color, and while you might have found it enjoyable, your pet more than likely has not. Any pet less than 5 loyalty bolts and cannot return. Any pet with 5 loyalty or more will remain, though they are shaken. Pets taught [Accept Sudden Noises] are not affected by this event.Random Event! A wild butterfly appears! Darting back and forth in your field of vision, it seems to be a fiery little thing. Suddenly, it flits away, then swings closer; flits away, then swings closer. It's almost as if its challenging you to a game of tag, or a race! You have been awarded a White Butterfly pocket pet for posting at least 5 times! You may take this pet home or leave it here.

Charon froze in the air as the whistle screeched. By the time it burst and the lights went everywhere, he was gone. Ashe looked all around for him, wishing he could see in the dark, but couldn't see the little dragon anywhere. He couldn't hear the little beast moving around either... It didn't help that Charon was a smokey black and hard to see to start with. But he was gone - and Ashe felt...something, in the amulet. It was a little different.
Charon didn't go back inside, did he? He frowns as he holds the amulet in his hand. What a little chicken... He had to go find a new companion now... Slowly he made his way back to the door. This was too bothersome. He had to find someone that was NOT scared of fireworks this time. It was embarrassing when something so silly scared away your pet... Good thing that no one else was around (this time) to see Charon poof like that.

The one that Ashe chose to replace the scared Amulet Spirit wasn't really that much better of a choice. But he was willing to take the risk with this one. Belial, the Fel Rakai, was walking along happily next to him, happy to be out and about. It wasn't too often that he or any of the other Rakai got to get out and stretch their legs. They were getting big, Ashe had to admit... He was sad he missed so much Puppy time with them, but he'd make up for it. He was starting now, with Belial, at this..strange place. He hoped fireworks didn't scare Belial. The duo walked up to the door of the mansion, the second time in the same day for Ashe, and stood there. Ashe realized the door actually looked a bit...different this time. He gazed at it, trying to figure out just what was wrong with it, when suddenly there was a squeal and a loud pop, then static. He looked up in time to see the end of the firework fading away. Belial seemed alright with it. Good boy. Belial: 1.4, 3.4
