If your roleplay could take any form...

Would you want an in-depth roleplay game with a "set" storyline and world to play in - with goals and challenges that you must overcome before you reach X level?

Would you rather have a "hack and slash" game where you trained up your pets to battle them in the great arenas and become the master of the monsters?

Or would you rather have a more relaxed game (like the current x-roads) which is a free-form roleplay set in the world, where you can enjoy time with your pets and friends - and if you feel so inclined, battle and adventure.

For as much as I love a very good plot and story, I prefer a more 'open' and 'relaxed' game, as far as roleplaying goes. I feel a lot more comfortable with a more open format, as that way I can come up with my own plots, and be more creative with it.

Well...
The current free-form-every-day is very nice and relaxed, but it easily gets a bit... boring and uninspiring. The current HxR is based on a lot of character interaction, while the surroundings are rather safe and dull. A park area, for example, is pretty limited to how exciting it can get. To me, surroundings and obstacles is usually what spark inspiration. I know that the mines seem to be one of the places I've had the most fun in.

Ever since I joined HxR, I've kind of waited for 'the beyond' to become active. The beyond seem rather hardcore thought, and I understand that it need to be overlooked by a moderator.
I'd like to be able to explore places like the labs and the beyond under less controlled forms (for the mods sake, lol). Like a light version. A mod could throw in events, but allow players to do the rest (and no rewards dealt).
Something like... the mod comes in and makes a short post that "you suddenly hear a rustle in the bushes". It would allow the characters to react, a jumpy character may rush off screaming insanely and get lost, while another maybe is deaf and don't even notice what's going on. Then, whenever it happens to be just the wind or a murderous vulticus with rabies that made the noise, is up to the players to make up. Just that the mod throws in a nudge of something spawned from the environment to interact with, something that the players is out of control off.
Or... something ^^;

I would say having areas/systems for all three would be best. It's nice having a relaxed, open environment where we can come up with things to do. For example, the in character gift exchange where people could submit things their characters could make with their skills. Even though it may lull at times, it's nice to know that we have the -ability- to do open things.

For the other two, it would be nice for people who are a little overwhelmed by all the roleplaying and want action. Although this could be a lot of work for mods.

So, I say keep the current open feel, but come up with areas/systems that provide for the in-depth and hack and slash players.

And the morning in her smile...
All the roses in the garden,
They bow and ask her pardon;
For not one could match the beauty

Just for an opinion-

That game is amazing. ^^ I like the concept of it, really! I hope it gets a great kicking start, It's really small and homey right now.
