Title: Ze End Of Ze World

Zevi - July 16, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
Okay, First off, Zevi is Christian but she has two...beliefs on this issue. One of which is Christian another that is based loosely on Science and blah blah blah.

Christian- Where I do believe that Jesus is coming back for us and all that good stuff. I don't believe that it will happen in my life time. 'Cause there are just too many things that need to happen..Like everyone getting a chance to accept God. So yeah....And as far as bush being the anti-christ..Uh...No body likes him and the anti-christ has to be liked by all (or most)....So Yeah

Scientific- According to the Mayan Calander the world is gonna end on 12.21.2012 and this is also varrified by the Web Bot which helps to find stocks and the like but started predicting things like crime and such that really happened. Also we are rapidly out growing our ecosystem, not to mention polluting it. I personily don't think that we can stop or slow down the process of Global Warming. I believe the Earth was already going to get hotter we just speeded her along. But I don't think we will drowned because the sea is gonna wash the land away, I think we are going to eat ourselves into famine, pandemics, and war.

Yeah..Thats about it

Did you know the 'doomsday' in Christain mythos is supposed to be 12.21.2012 too? :3 Eerie, huh?

I don't believe in either.

Nuclear halocaust is my theory to doomsday.

...This is freaking me out. I'm not sure if he made it all up or not, but one of my old friends "predicted" that the world would end on 12.21.2012 also. His theory had something to do with comets, and he seemed pretty serious about it. I'm still pretty sceptical about his theory, but who knows?

Anyways, I beleve that these are the two most common ways the world could end:

1. Global warming/pollution

2. The Sun turning into a black hole and sucking us up.

I'm half-christian, and I -sortof- belive that God will end the world, just in a scientific way.

Silver - July 17, 2008 02:15 PM (GMT)
XD Heh, a -lot- of 'doomsday' theories base around the year 12.21.2012

...Mayans, however, didn't -say- the world was going to end that day, they just stopped their (awesomly made) calendar there.

And then Christians left it out of the Bible, but it was in the ancient texts. (They apparently left a lot of the ancient texts out)

And I'm pretty sure there were a handful more, as well.

Though, technically, the Mayans ended their calendar before the Christian mythos picked up that date, so it may not be 'coincidence'. ^^;

The world will end when it ends, and you won't notice, cause you'll be dead by the time it's all said and done. :3 There's no reason to fear dates or anything- they're just numbers. One way or another, it will end someday, probably past our lifetimes times 100 or something.

I have a friend who believes everything she hears and she;s SOOO scared because she read that thing about when the world's going to end.

Though, weren't people scared something was going to happen at the turn of the century? I remember people gathering food supplies and water and making use of bomb shelters... o.o We survived that with no problem.

The Sun turning into a black hole and sucking us up.

Apparently, the sun still has another 4 billion years of life yet (or 4 million. Whichever.) And, when it does die, it will expand and consume the 4 inner planets and the asteroid belt before imploding and shrinking to a star the size of Mercury.

Just something I read on a few sites not to long ago

Fitzwilliam Reign - July 17, 2008 11:15 PM (GMT)
Alright...my opinion is simply enough that....there's nothing to fear xP

1) The world is not going to end by global warming in 4 years...What, it changes by a degree a year, at like, the most? Most of that is entirely NATURAL, the world has gone through LOTS of heating, and cooling phases. So, the worst that would happen is that humanity would die..but the world easily survives, and replenishes life... Huge temperature changes take centuries...and a few decades ago there was fear of global cooling...so I dont' think it's likely to happen anytime soon. And if it does, some areas won't even be that badly damaged. Actually, global warming, due to the changes in currents, will make some areas have ice ages even, such as a good portion of Europe. So yeah, not worrying about that.

2) The sun is not going to turn into a black hole. You ask like 90+% of physicists, they'll tell you the same thing. The sun is not large enough to form a red giant, or to then form a black hole. In fact, if it were, the black hole part wouldn't kill us, it'd be the fact it'd expand to many times its size before hand, and turn the world into a giant hot ball of rock. But, that also, not likely to happen. And, the predicted time when the sun will have any changes is many thousands of years away, if not millions or billions I forget that number, not a huge risk xP

3) Ashe, that was Y2K..which was when a lot of people though that because their computers and software were originally only programed with dates up through the year 2000 that once it hit that date they'd crap out and like die....which, they didn't...

4) That date, by the Christians, I'd have to say was probably stolen from the Mayans, because the Mayans had great mathematical, and other technological things, that Western society happily stole before destroying their entire culture and killing most of them xD....Sooo, I'd have to agree with Silver at that quite possibly being more than a coincidence..just like how Christmas happens to fall right over a pagan holiday xD

Overall...if the world ends on 12.21.2012 I'll be quite surprised xP...Well, I wont' be, cause I'll be dead, but you know what I mean... There may be a natural disaster or something, that kills large numbers, I wouldn't rule that out, that can happen at any time. However, I highly doubt that it'll kill the entirety of the world...But yeah

Omega - July 24, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... well, the Large Hadron Collider has the slightest chance of creating a micro black hole, with the slightest chance that the particle won't decay due to Hawking Radiation... but, because several reviews use one theory that says it won't happen, and another review that says it will, we won't know 'till it happens... so we are still none the brighter...

Also, the "mayan prediction" is interpreted to mean that there will be a big event on that date... not necessarily the end of the world, it could also mean a new revelation for the human species... you choose.

Vixen - August 2, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
...You know, I'm really interested in knowing how the Mayan's MADE their calender. o.o

But anyway... Why, exactly, was that the last day of their calender? That kind of interests me as well. But I have no theory on the "end" of the world. After all, the world won't cease to exist when we are no longer around to experience it, neh? But here's what I think will happen to Earth. Where we die out is your opinion:

Global warming heats up the earth and melts our ice caps, thus flooding the land until few bits remain... Over a period of time, the Ozone Layer will heal itself and the waters will eventually recede. Land will become evident again, but in different forms. After all, the water will have eroded bits off, reshaped them, and not to mention the constantly shifting plates in the crust always move the land masses around. Eventually the Earth's land will shift closer together again to form... something of a second Pangea. The world might fall into another Ice Age, what with it's constant temperature changes. And the process just repeats itself over and over again... But without our existance to create global warming. Again. .-. This is based off "The Future Is Wild", a program I saw... But it seemed immensely possible to me.

Anyway, our species will die out some day. All animals have their eras, and all animals lose them. How long did the T-Rex thrive before it saw the untimely end? Nature selects things for extinction. No race sees the whole of Earth's cycles. Something will kills us off eventually. It may take while, but it'll happen.
Nature has her ways.

But in four years? I doubt it, unless some major catastrophy happens. Like another meteor, or some nearby star spontaneously combusts... Or some martian species flips us off and decides to step on us. xD

But yeah. Our galaxy is one of millions, billions even. The loss of some miniscule planet will not be a significant loss. Existance is the only thing that lasts forever. The universe exists. It will always exist. There is no such thing as there just being... nothing. It's mind-warping to even think of such.

Or, like Obsidion said, maybe it's just a phase the Earth goes through. Or nature's way of getting rid of us. Maybe, like the Ice Age to certain other species, we'll be destroyed. Our phase is over. Or else we'd evolve. But that'd be... Well, not impossible, but...

You know what? I don't know. I'm confusing myself with my rambling. XD But at LEAST, humans won't remain the top species. There's no safe spot on the food chain. The Boss always changes.

Silver - August 4, 2008 12:28 AM (GMT)
Nobody exactly knows why the calendar ended on that day. They're still trying to figure it out, actually. x3 Unsure why. And they were geniuses. Too bad the Europians screwed them over (like they did everything else. >>)

And I vote Cockroaches. They're the top species. XD Them, or some kind of bug... possibly some ocean animals. Cause, we have animals (like cockroaches) that have been here for MILLIONS of years. More than the humans, longer than the dinosaurs. ... heck, they were around -before- the dinos. XD And they haven't changed much at all. Simple but good, they are.

Lusewing - August 4, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
Did you know we are still IN and Ice age, an ice age is basically classified as a time in the Earth’s history when it has ice capes at its poles! As for the whole dooms day idea who cares? Think about it if the Mayans could predict it that long ago then there is clearly no stopping it (if it actually happens) so why get worked up? Heck if the world did end (by which human civilization broke down) it would probably be because people were scared that it was going to end and panicked – mad buying, looting, loss of morals and will to live. It would be a classic self for filling prophecy.

The main problem we humans have is we think the world should stay the same – it dosen’t, continents move, climates change even the north pole and south pole switch around as time goes on. We either have to go with the flow or get swept clean. It has already been shown with fossil records that there have been about 7 ( I forget the exact number) mass extinctions were less then 5% of all species have survived. I guess its like a spring clean only for the world lol.

In my opinion, Jesus will come back before we masscre eachother, right after the 'massive army from all nations' stomps the world. (according to Revealation in the bible)

Jesus will come back and take use up, open the firey pit of Hell and throw bad people in. (sorry for lack of vocabulary, it 1 o'clock in the morning almost)

So yeah.

Global warming is a hoax. Sure, the weather's getting hot. But it's did that atleast 7 times before right before an iceage. Eat it guys, I just served it. XD

(in my opinion anyway)

Plus, other than, as mentioned before, cockroaches, Humans are the best animal for adaption to climate. It gets cold? We turn on the heater or put on a coat. It get's hot? We turn on the AC or shed clthes. I mean geez people! No one (except for maybe God) can turn the weather up/down and wipe us out. XD

'Doomsday'? Yeah...believe it, but not in 2012. Ever heard of the 1985 scare? The 2000 scare? the 2007 Christmas scare? The a couple of weekends ago scare? Yeah.....We are still here.

'Doomsday', however, in a billion or so years when the sun either blows up or goes out, yes. Pollution and how we speeded up global warming, around 2100 is when we should get worried, according to many scientific investigations. But even 2100, we can still prevent the -worst-. I think that as long as people stop severely polluting, killing the ecosystems, deforestation, etc....We will all be fine. :3
