Adept - costs 4 trait points
A certain skill, you are very well off at.. In fact, that skill group grows twice as quickly (half cost, rounded up)! Adept can be taken multiple times as a Trait, with a new skill group assigned to it each time... You still have to pay for it with Trait Points however... You must have that skill group as one of your selected groups in order to use this trait on it... Jack of all trades can use this trait for any skill group.
Animal Empathy - costs 8 trait points
You're particularly good with animals - and have a much easier time with them. Animals are often times drawn to you, and generally like you - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Husbandry at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Husbandry' as a bonus Skill group.
Ambidextrous - costs 1 trait point
You're skilled at using both of your hands equally. This is required for many types of two handed fighting.
Amnesia - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You simply can't remember your past! You also seek to find out about it, giving you a driving goal (which will never be acheived).
Bear's Strength - costs 2 trait points
You are stronger and usually bigger than the "normal" of your species.. you get a permenant +1 bonus to strength.
Blessed - costs 8 trait points
The gods seem to have blessed you with a natural talent and understanding of the ways of the world and it's magics - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Magic at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Magic' as a bonus Skill group.
Blind - gives a bonus of 5 trait points
You cannot seeeee! If you don't know how this is bad for your character.. I'm sorry.. Unfortunately, blindness does not come with a "sixth sense" - it just means you're blind. You have 1/2 accuracy at all times.
Cat's Balance - costs 1 trait point
You can never be caught off balance.. usually.. Climbing trees is much easier for you, and so is tight-rope walking, though, you still can't do it without practice. You never, ever trip over your own feet, that's for sure.
Charismatic Influance - costs 8 trait points
When you talk, people listen! I mean.. they really listen, and generally find whatever comes out of your mouth to be a good idea - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Charisma at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Charisma' as a bonus Skill group.
Clumsy - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
You always seem to be tripping over your own shoe-laces, or dropping your keys.. and successfully hitting something with a sword - or dodging for that matter, are out of the question! You have a permenant -1 penalty to dexterity.
Color Blind - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You cannot see colors properly.. Green and Blue often look too similar to tell apart - and sometimes, you confuse purple with orange. How sad for you. **If you are human, you can only take this if your character is male - otherwise, any gender can take this trait.
Compulsion - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
A compulsion is usually considered to be a nearly uncontrolable desire for something.. be it stealing, lying, absolute cleanliness (to the point of near insanity), etc... these compulsions are always negative in some way.
Concentration - costs 1 trait points
It's difficult to break your concentration - and when you set your mind to something, you rarely stop until you get it done.. unless you feel like it of course. This helps you accomplish tasks with greater accuracy.
Crippled - gives a bonus of 5 trait points
For some reason, you are missing a limb. Either an arm, or a leg. It's very difficult for you to walk and get around, and it's also difficult in general for you to get things done.
Cursed - gives a bonus of 7 trait points
Fate hates you. This will effect the game in many ways.. You may find that you are rather unlucky... So unlucky in fact that you almost feel the need to stamp "caution" across your forehead.. not.. that you would.
Danger Sense - costs 3 trait points
You know something's out there to get you - and you can always tell when danger is lurking. You can always avoid the 1st attack in a battle.
Dark Secret - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
Perhaps you killed somebody long ago... perhaps you set fire to your old house.. whatever it may be, it would surely cripple you in society if anyone were to find out about it, and you go through great lengths to protect that secret.
Deadly Accuracy - costs 8 trait points
You never seem to miss, and you have an innate love for long-range weapons (etc) - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Marksmanship at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Markmanship' as a bonus Skill group.
Deaf - gives a bonus of 4 trait points
You cannot hear. At all. This, obviously, makes it very difficult for your character to communicate with other characters - and also makes it difficult for your pets to communicate with you. After all, you can't hear your dog barking.
Disfiguring Scar - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
There is some (or several) horrible scar that marks your body - usually in some very visible place. People will often shun you, though you're not sick - and it's hard to get along in a crowd.
Easily Confused - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
Wait, what?
Falcon's Grace - costs 2 trait points
You are more fast and agile than the "normal" of your species.. you get a permenant +1 bonus to dexterity.
Feline Curiosity - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
Curiosity killed the cat... and, with you - it almost always gets you into trouble. You just.. you have to know! What was that sound?! *goes to look*
Good Reputation - costs 1 trait point
People know who you are. You - in your circle of folks, are generally respected, and you will always have a safe place to "come home" to.
Good with Computers - costs 4 trait points
You are naturally good with computers, and get 1 extra bonus skill point in all computer-related skills.
Green Thumb - costs 8 trait points
You do wonders in a garden - and get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Botany at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Botany' as a bonus Skill group.
Heart of the Mother - gives a bonus of 1 trait points
The sound of a baby animal (or person) just makes your heart melt - and you feel the need to help it.. Even if it could be a trap!
Hunted - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
Someone, or something - is hunting you down for some reason, with the intention of killing you. You must always be on the move, in order to avoid getting caught.
Illiterate - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
You cannot read or write, nor can you ever seem to wrap your brain around how to.. this can pose large problem for you indeed!
Imagination - costs 8 trait points
Creative ideas just seem to pour out of your head at all times - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Artisan at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Artisan' as a bonus Skill group.
Inept - gives a bonus of 6 trait points
You just can't seem to get anything right! You only get to choose one Skill Group, instead of two - at the time of character creation.
Insanity - gives a bonus of 3 trait points
Tacoooos! No, seriously - this is some form of insany far greater than any compulsion, phobia, or paranoia - they.. what's that?! No! Not the-!!*muffle*.. Seriously, again. You can't always tell the difference between Reality and .. not.. reality.. you - with the stuff... and the thing... that you do.
Instinct - costs 8 trait points
Much like an animal, you have a seemingly natural ability to survive in the world - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Survival at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Survival' as a bonus Skill group.
Intollerance - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
There's something you just plain don't like, and don't tolerate at all.. It often times brings you into conflice.. Are you intollerant to the color Pink for some reason? Well, if your best friend is wearing pink, you two might not have a so peaceful day...
Jack of all Trades - costs 6 trait points
You don't pick Skill Groups at all - for you, all skills grow at equal rates.. so there's no negative for "non group skills".
Lame - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
You limp.. all the time. Maybe it's because of an injury from long ago, or maybe you were born that way. It's in general hard to move quickly - and you get tired walking for long distances.
Linguist - costs 5 trait points
You can easily pick up other languages - and, if hanging around a group of people speaking another language long enough, you're bound to pick up enough of it within' a week to get along.. Not always well - but .. along well enough.
Love of the Pack - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You need people.. more to the point, you need your people. If you are seperated from your people, you have a hard time in general.. you get nervous, unsure of yourself.. When around your people, you rely on them to make decisions usually.. everything in your life is centered around your people - but you get no benefit from it.
Low Self Esteem - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You always feel like you're not good enough, no matter what you do. You try to do better - but you just can't seem to. Even if you really are perfectly normal, and do well enough - you never think so.
Magical Aptitude - costs 2 trait points
For some reason, you're blessed with magic. You get a permenant +1 bonus to mentality.
Magnetism - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
People of the opposite sex (and sometimes the same sex) are generally attracted to you.. Don't be decieved - this isn't because of your charm or good looks.. crazy obessive people are just naturally drawn to stalk you "cause they love you".
Math Genius - costs 1 trait points
Numbers are your thing - and you can do a lot of complicated mathmatical problems in your head.. without using a calculator.
Mechanical Genius - costs 8 trait points
Machines and Robots seem natural to you - and get get an bonus of 6 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Tinkering at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Tinkering' as a bonus Skill group.
Mute - gives a bonus of 3 trait points
You cannot talk. This is very hard for your character (and you as the player!) to communicate with other people - and makes it nearly impossible to deal with things in a normal way... and, difficult to train pets no less.
Natural Scholar - costs 8 trait points
You always seem to have your nose in a book, and in general find that you learn things faster that others.. maybe it's just because you study more - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Academics at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Academics' as a bonus Skill group.
Off In Space - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You are in general absent-minded.. it's hard for you to concentrate on more than one thing at a time.. more to the point, it's hard for you to even concentrate on one thing at a time, or think about it for a long period of time. Your mind tends to wander - which as you can imagine, is not always a good thing.
Old Salt - costs 8 trait points
The sea is your home, and you certainly never get sea-sick - you get get an bonus of 4 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Seamanship at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Seamanship' as a bonus Skill group.
One Eye - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
You, for whatever reason - are missing an eye. This has taken away your depth perception - and makes using long-range weapons impossible.
Phobia - gives a bonus of 3 trait points
Absolute mindless terror of a particular thing.. be it enclosed spaces, heights, spiders, or the number 17... You will do anything in your power to avoid this thing - you might go so far as to jump out a 12 story window to get away from that itsy bitsy spider, so it's best to try to keep a "lid" on your phobias.
Photographic Memory - costs 1 trait points
You can remember things as if there was a picture of it in your head.. you've no need for taking a map with you, as long as you've seen it once - and people's faces are etched into your mind.
Placid - costs 1 trait points
Your calm temperment usually distrubs people, but often times - it's contagious.. You can be calm at all points in time, and have hardly any bit of a temper.
Poor Hearing - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You aren't deaf, but you always need people to speak up, and sometimes you mis-understand what people have said.
Poor Vision - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You can see - but you can't see well.. In fact, you need glasses in order to get by.. Better hope you don't loose them.
Prejudice - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
Prejudice is a bad thing, in any situation.. and Prejudice is highly crippling in society... Prejudice against Avian? That'll come into a big problem when dealing with them... Likewise, more broad prejudice, like prejudice against "boys" - can be even more crippling.
Rabbit's Luck - costs 7 trait points
Fate smiles upon you. This will effect the game in many ways.. Are you lucky?
Rat's Blessing - costs 1 trait points
You are in general - double jointed.. Sqeezing through tight spaces is much easier for you, and it's hard for a person or creature to grab ahold of you - you always seem to wiggle your way out of their grip.
Really Big - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You're much taller (and bulkier) than the "normal" of your species - making it much harder to fit into small spaces, and you have to duck almost every time you enter a door-frame. It's more difficult dodge your foes - but easier for you to open jars and bench press. You get a permenant +1 bonus to strength, and a -2 pentalty to dexterity. *cannot be taken with "really short".
Really Short - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You're much shorter than the "normal" of your species - making it much harder to reach the top shelf for sure. It's more difficult for you to run - but easier for you to dodge your foes. You get a permenant +1 bonus to dexterity, and a -2 pentalty to strength. *cannot be taken with "really big".
Reccuring Nightmares - gives a bonus of 2 trait point
Almost every night, the nightmares come.. For some people, it's the same nightmare over and over again. For others, it's a random new nightmare - but sleep is hard to come by.
Self-Confident - costs 1 trait points
You know what you're doing. And you're always right. And you never appologize, why would you? You were right in the first place! Wait.. an army of raptors with swords? "I can take 'em."
Sexy - costs 1 trait points
Hey hey! What's up, good lookin'? You - are absolutely beautiful.. or handsome, whatever. On one hand - this just adds to your charm.. on the other - it could be very bad.. I mean, who wouldn't want to flirt with you?
Short Temper - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You tend to have a short temper with people, animals - and inanimate objects. Your temper often results in violent thrashes, yet.. you usually lack the strength or skill to back it up.
Shy - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You're not really afraid of people, but.. you like to avoid them usually. Meeting new people is tough, and your voice usually stays rather quiet when doing so.
Speech Impediment - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
Maybe your speech is slurred, or maybe you stutter. Perhaps you have an accent so thick that it makes it so people have a difficult time understanding you. Whateve the case may be, you just can't seem to talk correctly.
Stallion's Stamina - costs 2 trait points
You are can usually run longer distances without loosing your breath as quickly as the "normal" of your species.. You can also take more damage than the "normal" of your species.. you get a permenant +1 bonus to stamina.
Strong Common Sense - costs 1 trait points
Well, duh!
Strong Immune System - costs 5 trait points
It's very difficult for you to get sick, and poisons usually have a lesser effect on you. You have Acid Resistance - and recover from illness/poison twice as quickly.
Strong Willpower - costs 5 trait points
You refuse to let anyone into your head - and nobody's gonna' tell you what to do! Unless, of course, it's a good idea. You have Psychic Resistance.
The Thing - gives a bonus of 6 trait points
There are things in this world - that pretend to be a person, but are not... They will always fool a person, but will never fool a dog. Unfortunately, perhaps it's because some "thing" touched you at some point - animals are afraid of you. You cannot choose Husbandry as a skill group - and all husbandry skills cost you 4x the normal skill points, as opposed to 2x.
Touched - costs 5 trait points
An element of sorts - or perhaps it's the gods - or perhaps it's nature itself.. but whatever it may be, you find that you are special. You are resistant to a particular element.. you must pick an element (fire, water, earth, wind, shadow, light, cold, or electricicty).. You can take "touched" multiple times, but you have to pay trait points for it each time.
Turtle's Blessing - costs 2 trait points
You can withstand more damage than the "normal" of your species.. Perhaps it's just 'cause it takes longer for you to feel the pain - you get a permenant +1 bonus to resistance.
Ugly - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
You're... not that attractive. You might say your face has 'character.' Your body may be misshapen in some way, you may just not feel pretty. In any case, there's something about you that puts people off. You get a skill point hinderance in the skill group Charisma: each skill costs 1 more point than it normally would.
Unhappy Past - gives a bonus of 1 trait point
You did not have a very happy past. You may have overcome it or not, but it has in some way shaped who you are.
Veteran - costs 8 trait points
You've been in battle before.. quite a bit before actually, and it's certianly no stranger to you - you get get an bonus of 6 skill points to spend in the Skill Group of Combat at the time of character creation. You also gain 'Combat' as a bonus Skill group.
Weak Body - gives a bonus of 2 trait points
For one reason or another, be it sickness, small stature, or general laziness, you are not very strong at all. You take a permanent -1 to strength, and all skills in the Combat skill group cost 1 more point than they would normally.
Weak Immune System - gives a bonus of 5 trait points
You always seem to be getting sick, and poisons seem to knock you down more so than the other people - you dare not even take medicine! You have acid weakness - and it takes twice as long to recover from illness/poison.
Weak Willpower - gives a bonus of 5 trait points
You are easily open to suggestion - and in general have a weak willpower. Psychic creatures can bend your mind as easily as they can a spoon - if not easier. You have Psychic Weakness.
Well Adjusted - costs 5 trait points
You've had a pretty good life. A happy childhood, a fulfilling adulthood, you can't really complain. You pick up on social cues and body language very easily, and pretty much know 'how to play the game.' Grants +4 trait points to the skill group Charisma at the time of character creation
Wolverine's Rage - costs 6 trait points
You have a warrior's blood - and can fight like a wolverine, far past the normal limitations of the body.. you remain concious, even after you've reached 0 stamina.. in fact, you can keep fighting until you reach -5 stamina.. but -10 stamina is still death.
