Help? I've written a query letter to send in. Basically it's asking if it's okay to send in my script. Was wondering if you guys would take a look at my draft and give me some harsh criticisms? Cheers.
Dear __________,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I have never been so thrilled to sit down in front of the television, as I have been every Tuesday night for the past three seasons. ‘House, MD’ is a program of the highest caliber. In fact, such is my enthusiasm that I decided to make an attempt at writing a script. It turned out better than I had expected.
‘Insert Title Here’ is the story of Sean Mirado, a young and desperate drug trafficker. Sean is admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital after being assaulted in the middle of a handoff. He refuses treatment, even when he won’t stop bleeding and begins developing serious blood clots. These opposing processes, along with Sean’s refusal of treatment, gets House interested enough to pursue the case. In doing so, he discovers that Sean is not only a brilliant pianist and composer, but is also keeping a secret that could have a potentially devastating effect on House himself.
This is my first attempt at writing for television. However, I have had poetry published in several anthologies, placed in the Granite School District writing festival, and was a staff member on the University of Utah’s literary journal, ‘Enormous Rooms.’ I also have a personal interest in Sean’s condition, as my grandfather was afflicted with it. While not a medical student, I have a keen interest in all aspects of medicine, and read anatomy books, and medical journals and articles on a routine basis.
‘Insert Title Here’ is the best thing I have ever written, and I would love to see it on television someday soon. I invite you to read my script in the hopes that you’ll agree with me. I look forward to your response at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely, Me.
