Okay, in "Top Secret" Cuddy told House that 'that ship had sailed long ago' and to "get over it". It seems like House has a hard time letting these things go but the question is, has Cuddy really let it go?

Not that House is not the kind of guy to let the world know what he feels but he doesn't seem to be a little more open about his feelings for Cuddy. Again not that he shows his true feelings but his general playfulness with her, to anyone that is paying attention, hints at deeper feelings. Like a little boy in third grade who likes the girl that sits in front of him so he pulls her pigtails, and kicks her chair, and just generally aggreviates her. (God he is such a little boy! I love it!)

But Cuddy seems to still have feelings for House and yet, for the most part, hides them just as much as House if not more so. Why? Is she afraid of getting burnt? Afraid of hurting House? What? Or do you think she truly doesn't care for him in that manner anymore. That it's more a friendship than love?

I just get the impression that Cuddy and House both enjoy the tease more than they would enjoy the actual hookup. That to them it's not about the win or lose but how they play the game. I don't think that if Cuddy were really over House that she would enjoy it that much.

I think she knows it would never work but also has feeling deep enough that she just can't let it go. And maybe visa versa.

There's an obvious affection between them and I'd say at this point it's obvious that somewhere in their past their relationship was closer. I'm not sure if this means they were actually a couple, actually dating, or perhaps one of them had simply approached the other and tried to win them over and it didn't necessarily work out.

I think its safe to say they knew each other long before House started working at PPTH, probably before Cuddy did as well. I have the idea in my head that they might have been in school together, though there's no real evidence to support it.

As for Cuddy's feelings, I think she does love House in a strictly non-romantic sort of way. She may have loved him romantically in the past, but as she said "that ship has sailed", now she just sort of feels responsible for him.

But who knows, they may hook up later in the series. I think there's enough affection between them that it may evolve into something more serious if they'd let it. I think House would be all for it, but Cuddy may not, as she knows he is basically an emotional cripple in addition to having a bum leg and does not do human relationships well. I think Cuddy's probably afraid they'll both end up hurt and maybe ruin the friendship.

I too get the feeling that mostly they're really good friends and nothing more. They're good enough friends that they can really rip on each other and be vulgar without it hurting anyone's feelings, but given the chance they really wouldn't get intimate again. They may feel the attraction, but they both know it would be a really bad idea.

Ships are a hard thing to work out. The more you get into a certain pairing, the more that you find people are clinging onto the most circumstantial evidence that their two characters are destined to be together. It's hard to draw the line between canon and fanon.
This is why I respect writing technique over ship.

What I like about House/Cuddy, though, is that they're are so comfortable together. They banter and argue, and a lot of the time it seems like a game.
The fact that the two were 'canon' in the past is good to hear, because the relationship that they is very close. It's complicated, too, when you factor in things like Cuddy's guilt over House's leg and his hiring. The fact that they went out in the past

So. It seems that House and Cuddy work together in their own particular way. They're very witty and fiesty. Should House "Get over it"? Canon comment awaits.
