The Scandinavian tribes contain mixed members of five - once separate - tribes.
1. The Hasdingi, known as the most powerful which were originally lead by Darius Valgard. Hasdingi are made up of strong and skilled warriors who value family and battle equally. Women are married very young and have a main focus to have children. Royalty as well as some given permission participate in polygamous marriage. They are very superstitious when it comes to the Gods, and are lead spiritually by two priestesses, an elder Ragna, and the daughter of the late King Valgard, Novanja.
2. The Silingi, an off-shoot tribe of Hasdingi, once enemies now mixed in with Hasdingi due to their village burning down. Their leader, Luc Aevar is now the King of Hasdingi after the passing of Darius Valgard. The Silingi are known for being incredibly large warriors. Very strong and skilled in battle. Nearly unbeatable. They have few manners when dealing with enemies, and often raid other villages to attain wives and wealth.
3. The Ostrogoth tribe, once lead by King Ragnimar Amundr. Ostrogoth was raided by the Silingi causing them to seek sanctuary in Hasdingi. Ragnimar Amundr was later killed by Darius Valgard for attacking his wife. Ostrogoth underwent many attacks in it's day by Rome, having many women stolen away to become slaves there.
4. The Lombard tribe, a northern tribe was lead by the elderly Chief Elric Alfarinn and his second wife Ania Lohor. Ania poisoned her husband and brought her entire tribe south to ally with the Silingi. She was later imprisoned by Luc Aevar for conspiracy, and killed by her own daughter Arinya. The two remaining Lombard royals are twin sisters, Anya and Tula who remain with their own families in Eire.
5. The Visigoth tribe, lead by Queen Vidar, former allies of Darius Valgard. They remain current allies while the Queen (sick with possession of The Morrigan) seeks solace in Hasdingi.

Born in the Ostrogoth village, she and her sister were raised by a man who disagreed with King Ragnamir at every turn. He raised his girls to agree with him completely, and when he died, they ran away to Silingi, a way of honoring their father by turning on King Ragnamir and his ally, Darius Valgard. Hjodris is a very bitter and wicked woman, despite her innocent appearance.

Much younger than her sister, Signe never really understood the bitterness between and within tribes, but her love for her father and sister carried her to Silingi where she doesn't feel that she fits in. She's tried to make friends, but feels that people there are mean to her. She secretly wants to run to Hasdingi or back home to Ostrogoth but she's afraid of hurting her sister.

Now eighteen, Leofric is nearing the end of warrior training. His parents are seeking a betrothal for him and he could really care less. He is very laid-back and easy going.

Saga is a twenty-two year old widowed medicine woman of the village who lost her husband in a blizzard and miscarried after a severe illness. She is good natured and honest, and well trusted. Had to avoid the advances of the King through trickery before his death.

The oldest warrior from Ostrogoth. Father of Saga, who is priceless to him. Currently the villages blacksmith, after having suffered an injury that left him blind in one eye. Can be both bitter and wise, depending on his mood and who is around him at the time.

Twin sister of Volund. Was once the only friend of the whore Aliwera and has pretty much taken her place. Torahild is in love with Halthor, but the only one who knows this is Saga, who would rather die than see her father marry Torahild.

The elder of the village. Though he was never a warrior or a priest, he is considered to be the person everyone goes to when they need guidance from the Gods. Appears to be a good soul, other than the fact that he Fathered Tyra and obviously raised her to be a manipulative woman. Was good friends with King Ragnimar.

Head of the small Lombard army. Frej took to drinking since their army was destroyed. He blames himself for that fact. He is married to Fritha who was his childhood best friend. They have one three year old son.

Fritha, once trained to become a priestess, gave up her dedication to the Gods when the army was destroyed, she then became the Medicine Woman of the tribe and married Frej. A few years later she became pregnant and had a little boy. She was once good friends with Tulla, and even began to train her as a priestess before she was sent to Silingi.

Mother of Corina and Heiden, Brytta was married to the former General of the Warrior before Frej was proclaimed such. Her husband died in the last war against their village and their youngest child Runa died of sickness. For years she mourned their death and her only friend was Elric, whom she fell in love with. When he chose Anina over her, she was heartbroken and has become very bitter.

Heiden was once Queen Anina's lover, but was tossed aside when she set her plans for the throne. He is still bitter about it and blames the King for his loneliness.
Not to mention, his mother Brytta was in love with the King and he had hoped they would marry so that he could marry Anina. Since her death he has begun to suspect that her daughter Arinya could be his daughter.

The eldest of the Vidar children. He's much like his father, cold natured, not one to care about any one or anything only himself. A hardened warrior, living off of the land after he ran away from home, he lived mostly on the outskirts of Roman, killing off any Roman who wandered too far away from home. He doesn't care for any of his family, except Rune. He doesn't cater to the idea of the tribes being joined.

The second born child of the Vidar children. He is a womanizer and a gambler, only thinks of himself and if he has any friends, he uses them to his advantage. He made his life as a thief in a small settlement of nomads near Hun territory before returning back to his home before the villages were joined. Doesn't like any of his family, save Josef.

The brother of King Alvis, he was never one for politics. He married at an early age as was moved to Burgundian tribe, until his wife died. He brought his daughter to the village of the Hasdingi's when the fires began. Has no connections to none except his family, he is not found of any of them, but tolerates them just the same.

Cousin of the Vidar family, daughter of the king's brother Niclas. She is very quiet and timid. She does what she is told, and never talks back. She is unsure of herself and has self-esteem problems. However, she is a very good person and longs to have children of her own.
Brimar Velam

Former Second in command of the Visigoth militia, grew up with Ivak after his mother died, he was like the brother Ivak never had. He is one on of the strongest of the Visigoths along with Josef and Ivak. He's almost as strict and straight-forward as Ivak, but has a soft-heart. Thinks highly of the Hasdingi's and Ostrogoths, not too sure about Lombards or Siling's.
Jana Vaste

Ivak's sister and a widow. Jana loves to stick her nose where it doesn't belong and run and tell all who is able to hear her. Along with her being nosey, she is bitter toward her brother because he is swooning over Freya. Jana had married Reynar Rafn at the age of 17, and always wanting children, Reynar could not. She knows she is older, but will still like a family, but wants to see her brother married off first.
Nilette Erlin

The eldest of the Erlin siblings. She had been training under the town's matchmaker before her mother passed away several years ago, and none of them ever knew their father. She abandoned her duties to take care of her family. She is very down to earth, but often goes off into her own little world of thoughts and dreams. She is enamored with Josef and Brimar.

The second eldest of the family. He had been training under Brimar to be part of the militia before the fires, and still does train. Happy about the move, wants to get to know everyone and hopes to make friends. Very energetic and loud, syas somethings without thinking.
Tinea Erlin

The "middle" sibling. Tinea was born under an eclipsed sun and has been cursed since birth by this event. She is blind, but she does not consider it a curse. Though there are those who feel sorry for her, she does not. She is very down to earth at her young age, and insists on helping herself.
Remi & Rikke Erlin

The youngest of the Erlin siblings. They are both disruptive and loud, but Rikke seems to be the thinker of the group. They don't seem to listen to anyone and are always causing problems. Remi seems to listens to Nilette and Rikke listens to Tinea.
Caelia Evaric

Formerly known as Caelia Thurninius, she fled from Rome when her father killed her mother, and he was thrown in jail. She was the Queen's handmaiden, and helped her with her things. She found Freya's studies in the magic interesting. She is very interested in Ivak, but constantly badgered by Rune.

A friend of Ivak and Brimar. he is eccentric and a pessimist and hold ill-will to any woman since his wife ran out on him. He has a son and a daughter who he loves very much, but he keeps his daughter near his thumb.

Like Cristoffer, he had been training to be part of the militia, though he'd rather spend his days fishing and hunting than training. He's very laid back, and doesn't have a care in the world. Doesn't like fast-pace life which is why he retreats to any body of water with fish or goes into the wood to to hunt. Very shy and bashful around women, except his sister.

She is very outspoken and outgoing, and she knows her father hates it. Through his constant reprimanding the more rebellious she becomes, she thinks all women should not be told what to do, especially by any man. She looks up to those in the village like her and admires Freya and the Valgard women.
Jeremias Gerhart

Jeremias is good-looking and he knows it. He is arrogant, brash, and thinks he's better than everyone else. He has his eyes set on Freya and thinks he deserves her more than anyone else. He is willing to use anyone to get what he wants, and is also a very skilled warrior.
