Information
Welcome

Heroes and Legends is an ancient civilizations RPG based off of shows like Xena: Warrior Princess and movies such as Gladiator and 300. Here there be Roman nobles, vile barbarian tribes, scholarly Greeks and sensual Egyptians.

Inspiration comes from both mythological stories, true historical fact and all the fictional drama we can lay our hands on.

I've been brainstorming a character or two to try to give rp another try.. I'm hoping to get applied soon, but I might wait until after midterms when I know I have time to post.
Does anyone want to plot with me in the meantime? smile.gif

One of the characters I have in mind for Rome right now is a general in his late thirties, returning from a post in Gaul or somewhere far away, aiming to settle down and get remarried, but I think he'll become hostile to the Aventine gang in some way when he starts trying to power climb.
The other is a woman in her late twenties living in the Aventine, trying to gain a reputation as a midwife among the upper class, although she makes most of her money selling phony love potions, charms, trinkets, or supposed medical remedies. She's primarily self-seeking con artist, but I'm thinking she'd be friendly with the merchants and Aventine/plebian workers, particularly more trustworthy if she wasn't trying to hustle something. xD
..So any pregnant or superstitious characters? Or Romans who need friends/political allies/enemies?

I've been trying to read posts and blogs to catch up on who's who, but there's a lot of people! For names I'm thinking Titus Curius Cilo and Aelia Laevina, unless either one's taken or too close to another name.

Sorry for such a long post. But thanks for all the welcomes! smile.gif

Your first official thread here. I'm so proud I could cry.

I love those named. Neither is taken. I'm surprised. I mean Titus is taken, but hell we've got lots of Marcus' around too. How have none of us ever come up with Curius? That's awesome.

Aelia isn't taken, the closest thing is Aella or Aeliana so you're good there.

Okay, awesome. I'll just have Aella go by "Laevina" after adding the cognum so it's not confusing with any other names. Also figured I'd have Titus Curius be called either Curius or Cilo since I assumed there might be a few Titus's.

Any older Roman characters who could be old friends of Curius' once I get him applied? He needs someone to visit or run into once he gets back in Rome, or to scheme with him against the Aventine gang.

I also decided he'd be a good husband for someone with a ~secret lover or something. biggrin.gif He'll be so distracted by trying to power-climb and looking for evidence to back up his grudge that he won't know what's going on behind his back.

OMG Spurius should have Lucretia married off to him! She'll be so pissed!

Lucretia is my favourite evil Roman girl. She's young and has twin 12 year old kids. She's the widow of the late Decimus Atrius, the Praetor (who was killed by Wulf, but only Spurius knows that cause he paid for it to happen when Rome was in battle with Scandinavia).

Lucretia poisoned her mother in law, and has been having an affair with her own brother for years. He's the actual father of her twin children, though no one knows about that. She's manipulative and tried to bed Tiberius Caesar but failed. She would hate to be married to an older man. LOL!

Spurius just married Augustus' only daughter, so marrying his sister would be a power move.

Also, Curius could be Metellus' old General or something. An old friend too maybe. It would be interesting for them to meet up and Curius find out that Metellus is a part of the Aventine family.

And Aemilia is of course the one I told you about yesterday, she happens to be Metellus sister and hates his Aventine roots. Even though she has just adopted a teenage boy from the Aventine because she hasn't had any kids. It is a secret.. she is saying he has been her son all along.

Aemilia would be on his side against the Aventine gang.. and she would convince the senators she is sleeping with to do the same.

That's perfect, I love it! So he can run into Metellus, shocked and appalled that a Greek was in charge of Roman streets and that "gangsters" were becoming rich and famous in the city while men lost their lives anonymously in the battlefields for Rome, then have an excuse to visit Aemilia and be relieved to hear a similar opinion. Then they can start plotting to try to undermine the Aventine gang. xD

Who is Aemilia's adopted son?

I figure Curius would have kids too, maybe conspicuously off somewhere or NPC'ed. But maybe part of his grudge can come from his son showing interest in joining the Aventine gang, rather than following the more traditional path of war and politics.

Aemilia's son is Kaeso Lepidus (played by Desi) who will be one of the group with Crassus that come back heroes from Egypt. Though he is really an orphan from the Aventine. Aemilia is claiming she had a son long time ago with a man in Gaul. Left the baby there to be raised. Now her son is in Rome, quickly shipped into the military.

She won't speak of his Aventine roots.. and its kind of ironic that her son and lifeline that she is giving her money to is originally from the Aventine, yet she hates the place.

Yay, sounds like fun! I'm excited. xD I'm gonna try to work on a paper before I apply him today or I'll be distracted for the rest of the night.
