Sounds like a solid ARPG.

So far everything I've read has been positive. Looks like we will finally have a true RPG with real action combat. Tons of hands on reviews etc listed here.

After playing the demo, I cancelled my pre-order. It looked and felt like WoW...too cartoony for my taste. The controls led me to picture 'button smasher' all the way... Maybe the final product will be better but the demo did not impress me at all. Back to Skyrim I go...

I'm really on the fence after playing the demo. Like SAINT, I am not a big fan of the art direction... I like my RPGs a little more 'gritty' and this feels way too toon-like. That being said, I did run through this trial several times over, with different characters. The rogue was the most fun, followed closely by the mage. Combat is relatively smooth but very arcade-like in its approach. I realize that's the intent but I'm not sure I dig it...

I'm interested in seeing the scores when this title releases. What I'm mostly curious about is 'content' (i.e. length). The developers claim 'hundreds of hours' of gameplay... I would like to believe that but will wait on confirmation from non-biased outlets... wink.gif

WOW,

I knew what direction they were going with the art direction and love it myself. A day into Skyrim and I felt I'd seen everything. Skyrim had such a limited color pallette that is quickly got to the point that I didn't even notice the environments. Yea it's a bit on the artsy side, but it adds character and appears to be alot more diversified environmentally then Skyrim. Did you guys think Fable was to cartoony as well?

I had a few control issues with combat, probably mostly due to just not being used to it, but combat is certainly more fun then Skyrim and compared to Fables combat , better instituted and with more depth.

I do not like the character stop animation, what's with the slide, but animation over all is very well done, haven't seen any laughable animations like that of the horse in Skyrim. I felt Barbie should have been riding around in Skyrim.

I love how the loot is handled, open a chest, get the ability to compare to current equiped, equip it, take it, or place in junk, all on one screen, very nice.

How well the skill tree works, remains to be seen, with Skyrim I put everything into three skills, lockpicking, one hand combat and restore and never really felt challenged in a fight, if I died it was because of being careless.I didn't really like how the bow worked, but then I hate using bows anyways.

So far the AI seems good, again, need more of a sampling to say for sure.

The one side quest I did in the demo last night atleast added to the folklore of the game and was interesting, not just a simple fetch this and get the reward. Again, need more of a sampling to see how interesting the side quest remain.

The music score, excellent!, it actually feels like a movie score, it gains speed and focus at the right times and really adds to the atmosphere, it plays a part as appose to just being a fill in.

I'm still excited about playing the game and so far it has met expectations.

I am with Quixter on this....I had a blast with the demo. I love the art style and the combat is very fun (I am a huge hack and slash fan)...I don't have any really big complaints. I am just hoping there is a huge world backing up the gameplay...if there is I will be in heaven.

I keep finding new areas in the demo after playing through it three times, If you haven't made it back to the Keep, check it out. That area to me is awesome looking. Also back in that area is a cave called the overgrown thicket. I came across a letter on a corpse that talked about it. Anyways, it has some of the more difficult creatures in it. Really shows off how combat will need to play out as you cross tuffer elements. Combat shines the more I get use to how it works.

The option to turn off helmets, love it, love the protection helmets give you, hate how they look.

Well I gave it a whirl. Wasn't really following it in development. It is ok - I'd probably get it at a price break.

I don't the art is as cartoony as WoW. It works for the setting I think.

In general it reminds me of Torchlight or the Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance games on the old xbox. I had fun with those. They weren't the greatest ever but still fun. I would want to read reviews on how long and if the game gets old after a while.

I didn't like the loot system where you can't take anything and everything of the corpses. I keep going - that dude had a better sword - I want it - I see it on his body - why can't I loot it?

I can see where if someone was expecting Skyrim this would be a let down. It is a very different flavor game.

Part 2 of 3 is up on IGN's website. The reviewer continues to paint a positive picture.

This is what I noticed when I ran into the one cave in the demo.

"The beginning of the game lulls you into a false sense of security, and Reckoning begins to feel like a button-masher. But it isn't. When you start encountering enemies that are more difficult, more intelligent and more aggressive than ones very early in the game, you'll start to understand the utmost importance of using your shield and the parry button"

and he points out other ares that the games shines in which have me looking forward to playing it. The majority of responses I've read have been positive to the demo.
