Six Flags: the Great Escape in Lake George, New York

March 17, 2009 by Priscilla Danback

Six Flags The Great Escape in Lake George New York is a 140 acre theme park with tons of rides and entertainmet. It is a great deal because included in your already low ticket price is a fantastic water park called Splashwater Kingdom.

For children they have Looney Tunes National Park with rides geared towards children. Jump on the Elmer Fudd Scenic Railroad that kids and adults can ride together, and when an adult rides there is no height min. Tweety's tweehouse lifts little children up and down on a fun ride. And kids will have fun on the Yosemite sam's shore patrol which is little boats in shallow water. And there are much more rides for children to have fun.

Thrill seekers will have alot of fun at the Great Escape Six Flags because they have many rides for them. Steaming Demon is a metal roller coaster with several complete loops to chill you. The Comet is a crazy wild wooden roller coaster that is rated top in the world. The Sasquatch is a new ride coming in 2009 it is a ride that lifts you up almost 200 feet in the air and then freefall drops you. All these rides and more will keep you coming back for more.

Splashwater Kingdom is a great water park to beat the heat of summer. Filled with water slides, water fun and a large wave pool to cool off in. Also when you are done you should check out one of the many shows running all day to relax. And then if you get hungry you should check out one of the great concession food stands throughout the park. Six Flags The Great Escape in Lake George is lots of fun for the whole family to make lots of memories together.

Yea, it's kind of "Captain Obvious" information with no real news, but it puts a nice positive spin on the park, which is nice to hear... any positive news about the park, even if it's just basic descriptions, is good to hear.

Not terribly well written, but still good to hear someone putting The Great Escape in a positive light.

It's kinda sad how we're the last of a dying breed.

There's no real gathering forums around here for the Great Escape/Adirondack region (GE being the primary topic)... only a few peeps trickle here

Over in Thomas' TGESource, it's also rarely commented on...
...and there's no way in hell I'd resort to a site full of lies & conspiracies (GECentral = Fox News).

No matter any updates I'd make on it, it'd get little attention unless I had exclusive info & external sites linking it here.

As you well know Dawg, I have a pretty good source of inside information from GECentral (nyguy isn't as smart as he thinks). He's still up to his old crap. Sadly enough though, his boards are alive, with plenty of new posts. Kind of ironic how everyone here hated him, but he's gone, the BS here has ended, but there is no one left posting here, everyone is posting on his boards, and listening to all the lies he tells.

...that's only because it's really the only site around that has a forum link...

...ashame whomever posts there actually listens to what he says, as if he's like Glenn Beck or Bill O'Riley & they're the little monkey followers who listens to whatever he says, no matter how fabricated the truth is, no matter whenever a statement is proven false, he's always right...

...or else you're banned.

It'd just be nice to find someplace who knows the inside dealings on what's going on with the park this year & the future... if there's any talk of more new goodies, or how well attendance has been holding this season considering all the factors that have brought the overall season down (ie: tourism, economy, crappy rain/cold July & part of August... etc).

It is indeed sad, but that is the way things go. I haven't really heard much of anything about the park this year, and haven't been there myself at all. Between the lousy weather bad economy, and a ton of things on my end that have kept me from doing a lot of the things I wanted to get to this summer. I'm hoping to get it together for a trip or two during Freight Fest, and then perhaps a trip during their holiday in the park, but I'm not ever sure about those trips at this point.

Personally, guys, I also haven't gotten to the park this year. I guess I just threw away the money I spent on 2 season passes and the season parking pass... Like Tom said, with the weather and the fact that my DJ business has been busier than ever, there's just been no time to get up there...

I am hoping to get there for Fright Fest, and I am making it a mission to get there for the Christmas event.

Oh well, maybe next year...

Hey DJ, long time no hear.

It's GREAT to hear that the DJ business is going well, you may be the ONLY success story in NY aside from Wal Mart, and the big banks. Things in my home town have been pretty slow, and many people here are struggling, just hoping that the economy recovers soon.

We personally aren't in terrible shape, but I had to get a car this spring, somewhat unexpectedly, I thought I had another year or so left in my last car. After the cost of the car, and the work that ALWAYS needs to be done on any used car you buy, and with a two week Disney vacation on the board, well you know how it goes. Add the sucky weather, and that's how it happens.

Honestly, at this point I'm not even sure if we'll make it up for Freight Fest. I'd like to go, but we'll see how things work out the next couple of weeks. Luck for us, we did get to attend the first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party of the year. It's a bit different than Freight Fest, not as scary, but the parade and fireworks shows were incredible, and the kids got lots of candy, so I suppose they won't be horribly upset if we don't make it to TGE this October.

i was just looking through the old posts at the beginning of the forum from 2005 or something and there used to be so many people! oh well. Nyguys site is pretty bad of a fan site since it's never updated and i think parts of it are still perpetually under construction, but the forums are busy, which is nice. he doesn't really post that often and doesn't seem to lie that much any more but he still does some truth bending (like being wrong about the rainbow being completely sent from the park then changing the story when another member posts a picture of the pieces behind desperado plunge).

i daresay that sick individual took all the members away from these forums. the 5 or 6 regularly active members over there do little more than speculate and gossip, which i love doing, but no one seems to live close to the park or be able to take pictures or visit it regularly, which you need for a good forum. And since we all know nyguy never had any sources, no one there does have sources so its all speculation that's talked about.

i do check these board every so often, about once a month or so to see if anything is happening. i'm still around.

Sorry, with a few exceptions (nyguy, Dawg, John J, Comet83, UBRhino come to mind) I don't really have faces / names to connect with screen names.

Indeed it is sad. Nyguy is still full of poopy. It wasn't all THAT long ago that he put on the crap about having a big meet up at the park for his forum members. I can say with absolute 100% certainty (verified this with a park manager) that it never happened. I was THERE the day of the meet, he was not, and I know what he looks like, no doubt he was not there, his forums didn't have a meeting there. He's still full of crap.

We DO still have a number of members here who actively check on the boards, there just isn't much going on here to entice them to post. If we get some chat going, people will crawl out of the woodwork as it were, and join in, I'm quite sure of that.

I recently received a PM on another forum from a member who regularly visits the park. He was expressing his sadness over the lack of real forum activity about TGE. I suggested that he visit / sign up here. Hopefully we'll be seeing him on the boards here soon, and perhaps can revive things around here. Things used to be pretty lively around here. It is time for a "resurrection" of these forums.

Whoops... I guess I should lift the ban on new sign-ups...

The reason I had the ban on them was just because almost every day, there were 2 or 3 potential sign-ups, and they were ALL spam accounts. If I waited a week before checking them, there were over 30 new accounts waiting for approval, but all of them were these bogus accounts. I had to sift through several to just find ONE good one.

It'd be nice to get some activity back here, but the reason why this forum is so dead in terms of really anyone is what was mentioned before & what I'll add...

1) There's no real link from any website. It kinda sits on its own and isn't exactly easy to find unless you maybe google it just right, or have others who know about it.

2) The sign-ups are locked out because of all the SPAM I used to get for new-accounts.

3) The problem that most regulars don't live near the park here... those who do rarely post anymore or moved onto other pastures (ie: gecentral.com).

4) The monkey slaves were lured by the greener pastures because they saw a website linked with forums.

5) Even TGE Source is very rarely used. I check it and there's stuff that hasn't been updated (forum wise) in months, possibly even a year!
