Hello all,
My wife and I have been camping at least once a year for the past 20 years. We still love it, but in our 40's it's getting kind of hard to get up off an air mattress on the ground. :( RV's are terribly expensive, and long ago we swore off using credit for anything that declines in value. Since I'm pretty good at building things, we decided to build one. It's going to be a 7' by 10'. The plan is to essentially build a bedroom on wheels with heat, A/C, solar power, and a good bed. :D For cooking, we'll do that the same way we always have, either over an open fire, or on a camp stove under a canopy. For bathroom and shower facilities, we usually go to places that have bathrooms for campers. If we go anywhere truly rugged, there's always the solar shower, and the "primitive latrine facility" both the Boy Scouts and the Army taught me how to build on the fly ;) As of this writing, the chassis is complete, and the next step is building the floor deck. We have a camping trip planned the last week of May, and I hope to have the floor platform completed so we can use the trailer as a flatbed cargo hauler to move our gear. (We set up a VERY elaborate camp site. The manager of our favorite national forest has to stop by every year and check out our setup.) :D I hope that by the time the fall camping trip rolls around, we'll have the camper completed. |
