Good Lord. I typed a couple of paragraphs on where I been, what I been doing and whats happened since I took Leave of Absence from FOTR over a year ago. Hit post and my connection croaked before it entered.
Oh well, I'm back. I was PawPawFestus. But when I tried to use that name, it said I didn't exist. When I tried to re-register with it, it said, there was already one of those. When I tried to reset my password, same thing -- I didn't exist. So I went in a circle for an hour before deciding to reregister as just plain old PawPaw. Then it made me change emails, cuz my old one was taken by PawPawFestus.. SHeesh! The trouble I went through to get back in here... :P |

Hello Mike and Chip. Good to see yall still here. Yall might remember, I left when my brother's wife was diagnosed with liver cancer. We were all basket cases, and I had no inclination to be social on any level. I just wanted to be there for them.
She died, we all died some.. My brother is doing ok now. I accepted a job in Saudi Arabia and thats where I am now. My wife and I bought a home in Ted Poe country. Kingwood Texas! I am coming back stateside in March to start moving our things in that direction and get our Borger home ready to sale. We still have the Sandpiper and the F-350 We'll be living full time in Kingwood in June. Gonna let the grandkids finish the school year in Borger. Oh, and Chip - I took your advice. I tried Sushi! Dog gone, some of that stuff is GOOD! Monkey Balls are my favorite. (somehow that sounds nasty) Anyway, good to see yall here. I was hoping to run into Lightning as well. I noticed he hasn't posted in over a year either. I guess he's awol. |

I like my US Congress Representative.
I'd like it even better if I could call him Mister Speaker Poe! |

Yes, I remembered from last time I was here that you lived in Ted's district. He's the best.
I'm looking forward to living in the area. For LOTS of reasons! One of which is the weather. Good Lord, I hate cold. We experienced snow, and sub zero for Christmas. I burned a truck load of pecan wood, I would rather have used for cooking. |

Sorry to hear of your tragedy. You have my deep sympathy.
It's good to hear you had a positive sushi experience, Paw Paw. Monkey balls (deep fried jalepeno's stuffed with spicy tuna and cream cheese) is not too bad. Like California rolls, there is no exact recipe - some sushi bars alter it to make their own unique taste. Some serve it with eel sauce, but I prefer ponzu sauce. What's your monkey ball sauce of choice? (That didn't sound quite right, did it?) Stay safe over there. Chip |

You ain't right man... :P
The monkey balls I've eaten have crab and shrimp meat in or on them. Deep fried to crisp it up just a touch. The sauce they serve with it is a horse radish spiced up mayonaise. Its green. I pour a little soy with it, mix with a chop stick and throw down. I've tried a few more, most of which I like. I don't like cucumbers, so a California roll is out. Anything without cucumber, I can sign up for. |

Well - Howdy there Paw Paw and hello to everyone else. I have been sort of "out of the net" for several months now and no I haven't been doing any time in one of the Big House's either.
Barb and I are doing well but just haven't done much with the RV the past year or two. I come in here and lurk around every so often just to catch up on all the chit chat and to check out the great pictures. Hopefully this spring we will fire up the RV and take a bunch of little trips. Need to either use it of get it sold. We are anxious to go and visit some great old friends that live near San Antonio. We had lost touch with them for several years and where they were living and then we got a Christmas Card from them. So we are sure looking forward to catching up with them. We might even pop the tops off of a few Bud Lights when we see them. |

I can see that I need to update my vehicle info.
We traded the Sport Trac in and got a new Ford F-150. It has got a whole lot more gizmo's and gadgets than any old man should have or need. |

Hello Larry. When you get to San Antonio, be careful.
There are massive amounts of 18-wheelers hauling massive amounts of oilwell drilling pipe & oilfield related stuff on the road 24/7. Business is BOOMING! The malls are packed, motel rooms are high and scarce, and the roads are inadequate for the traffic. The oilfield supply company down the street from me in Houston is in the process of tripling its land use. Unfortunately, the "buffer zone" between it and our neighborhood is disappearing. The good news is I'm on the other side of our 330 home community. |

Thanks a lot Mike,
We are fairly familiar the San Antonio area. We have most often stayed at the Family Campground on Fort Sam Houston. We have also stayed at the Blazing Star Campground and at the Family Campground on Lackland AFB. Our friends now live in an area fairly near to Randolph AFB, so we will most likely stay at the Fort Sam Campground initially. Doubt seriously if we will do a heck of a lot of gallavanting around in our motor home once we get there. At 6 MPG it is really not your most economical way of getting around. We have seen and done most all of the half way common touristy things around that community, so we may not spend a lot of time right there. We might just load up our friends and take another excursion in some other direction. We have plenty of room to take them with us. Might go down in the Rio Grande Valley for a couple of weeks or maybe go to the New Orleans area. Our friends have never ridden in or traveled in a motor home so it will be a totally new experience for them. Thanks again, Larry |
