Yes we can. Nice picture of the entry to your great state.
We have lived in numerous different state locations and in several different countries, but never in Kentucky. We were sort of close once when we lived in Indiana. Guess what you are saying is that if we ever did once, we would still most likely be there right now.

Yes this is really a great forum and with some mighty nice folks.

Welcome aboard and will be looking forward to reading your postings.

Hey everyone! Great pics and good times here! I'm home safe and sound from a quick camping trip this weekend with a friend who bought a pop-up camper. I went along on the maiden voyage to help out with stuff along the way. Here's a panorama of our campsite in the forest.

Another shot of our campfire and my tent in the background. Everyone had a great time!

Well I must admit that it feels strange getting to talk on a PPT…

All goofing around aside Don makes a very good point here, as a lifetime shooter/collector it took a longtime to figure out what I consider the perfect combination for me.

The way I see it is if you don’t always carry because it’s uncomfortable or too hot and hard to conceal you are defeating the purpose. Many times I’ve brought an assortment to the range to let a new shooter get an idea of what they’re comfortable with. With all the considerations its certainty not a one size fits all and enjoy being able to help. My advice to the new shooter or ccw holder is to figure out what works best for them and stick with it.

I quite like my little "point and shoot" hand gun.

It's easy to conceal due to its size yet still very lethal. My brother told me if you don't win the war within your first three shots he doubts that you will. With that in mind only having five rounds seemed quite sensible. I would rather put 5 large holes in my target than a whole bunch of little ones.

My brother loads my ammo and I have no idea what it is. I do know that I love that nice crisp sound every time I pull the trigger. ;) I love the kick I get too, it's a mean little hand gun. :D

My brother loaned my a S&W 357 model 28 with a 6" barrel for about 30 years and I used it to hunt varmints. I have never been very good at target practice but a bunny on the run was dead meat. Never could figure out why I could drop a running rabbit but couldn't hit him if he was standing still.

Oh well, back to the pictures.

I need to go camping.

Kenny, what I’ve learned over the years is the more relaxed you are the better you will shoot and if you get frustrated it’s time to pick it up another day. A neat observation has been, generally speaking, women make better new shooters than men and I think the reason is there are no mucho, competitive or preset expectations. In a nutshell they are more relaxed.

A trick I was taught when my handgun skills seemed to decline after getting into silhouette shooting (using a SW 629 Classic DX .44) was; in the case of a revolver leave the cylinder one round short and have someone watch your reaction when you find it. It turned out I was pushing forward subconsciously because of the recoil. Did the casting and loading at the time and would shoot to the point of blisters and calluses and the psyche was taking over because of the pain. Learned I’m not a good heavy recoil shooter and the funny part is a friend of mine who is a good bit smaller is immune to it, he can dump both barrels in my 12ga cowboy shotgun and shoot a SW .500 and it doesn’t bother him a bit. Just some random thoughts amongst friends.

Staying with the PPT theme here is my second most carried, a 5 shot Charter Arms .38 that was given to me by my wife’s family several years ago after her uncle past and hold it in high regard B)

We’re ok all the way around, it looks worse then it is and know about all that ‘fun’ gvwr and load placement stuff. Liability is taken very serious and 5-6k trips later I think we have it down pretty good. Well, at least the fdot and fhp think so, the other guys are probably shooting buddies… :)

On edit, I need to post a picture of a big one loaded

Came home and a water pipe in the attic sprung a leak flooding the kitchen/laundry room.

Turned off the main, checked the attic, and the line to the kitchen fridge ice maker was the culprit.

I checked with my insurance agent and we're covered! :)

Waiting on one of those 24-hour emergency response flood crews to come over tonight.

Hope everyone had a better day!

The crew is here! These are the fans and dehumidifiers they brought to dry out the place. After this picture, everything was put into place and running at full speed! Water damage limited to the kitchen/laundry room area only.
