With what? A red one? I'm sorry Kathy I couldn't resist! I'm bored and I want to go camping but rain and storms are coming.

To answer your question I have not replaced a Grey tank. Is yours exposed or hidden behind the insulating material? AL

We have a polar package so the whole bottom is enclosed. We have already taken the insulation down once to figure out what the heck was leaking. Since we have been leaving the gray tank open where it doesn't fill up, no more leak. It will need replaced at some point in time. Just wondering how much of a bugger it is going to be.

As far as replacing it with red, maybe, won't be pink..........I don't like pink. I think maybe purple. :P

Would it be possible to take the insulation down again and slowly fill it with fresh water to find out where it is leaking and repair it? You may have tried that already.

Kathy,
Can you actually see where the leak is located ? Is it leaking from the tank itself or is it from one of the tubes going into that tank, or is it from the drain coming out of the tank ?

It is not coming from any of the pipes unless it is the connector on the top. We have traced it down to the grey tank being 3/4 full. If we leave the valve open so that the tank can drain as we take showers then it never leaks. HOWEVER, any time we close the valve after about 3 showers we have a 50 gallon puddle in the underbelly. To me it wounds like a stress fracture that opens when teh tank gets heavy. Like I said, the only connectors we did not check was the top of the grey tank where it comes in because we would have to take the tank down to see it.

Boy that would be disgusting. Not sure what I would do. I guess that the only solution is to totally remove the tank and then inspect it real closely. If you can not detect a tiny stress fracture as you suspicioned, then it must be from around the connector at the top.

It has been really annoying. Took us about 2 months to figure out where the heck it was coming from. If you are going to take the tank down to check it you might sa well put a new one in and make sure that it is good right? I would hate to take it down and then put it back and it leak again. The good thing is the camper is parked permanently so we don't have to worry with the valve being left open.
