TT on Craigslist for $4700

I have a feeling it is but sent them this email and will post the response if we get one.

“Where are you located in Orlando? We would like to see this TT, today if possible. Please forward your contact info. Thanks…”

no I don't think so Don.

might be just what is owned on it, and they want out from the loan.

Good luck

Morning Dale, that would be great if that’s the case but my suspicion meter is pegged on this one. There are a lot of scammers posting on our CL and this one is reading the same to me.

Found a ‘great deal’ on a pop-up a couple weeks ago on CL but it didn’t have a title and the vin had been removed so decided to pass on it…Lol

I let you know if I get a reply.

This ad is also on New Orleans Craigs List. I would be highly suspicious.

Is it just me, but I would like to actually find one of these scammers and put a gun in their mouth. I wouldn't kill them, but I would definitely make them consider the error of their ways. They might not repent afterwards, but they surely wouldn't forget the encounter for a while. If they did, they would always have their scars to remind them. ;)

Don
I'd conclude that it is certainly a scam and continue your search.
By the way, did you ever get an answer back regarding where in the Orlando area they were located ? I'll bet they tap danced around that question.

RE: Camper

From:
"Melinda Wahlman" <melindawahlman@msn.com>

"Hello,

Thank you for your interest in buying my camper. My 2006 Keystone Sprinter 303BHS in very good condition is still available This camper is excellent in every way, has no accidents reports, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches ,clear title. With much regret I`m selling my camper because me and my husband are buying a house and we need the money for our dream home. The price of $4,700.00 includes the shipping costs and insurance, so you wont have to pay any extra charges. The camper is already at the shipping company in Paris, TX. sealed and ready for the shipping. So if you are interested please e-mail me back for more details about the transaction.

Let me tell you a few words about the camper:
Type: Travel trailer
Slide outs: 1
Water capacity (gallons): 31-40
Length (feet): 32
Sleeping capacity: Over 8
Air conditioners: 1
Awnings: 1
Dry weight (pounds): 6830
This is a 2006 Keystone Sprinter 303BHS. It is the same model my wife and I picked out for ourselves. This unit appears to have never been used (we can't find any signs of use at all). It has all nice doors, upgraded cabinets, fridge doors, 4 bunks, the sinks and faucets are higher end than normal, etc. The only negatives to it was that there was some soft spots in the floor (its just a partical board with wood chips and saw dust in most of these campers) from where the door was left open, and we ripped it all out, took out the cheap insulation and replaced it with R34 home insulation and 3/4" plywood from front to back, and in the front there is a little ding on the left hand side (shown in pic). We put quarter round where we trimmed it out along the walls, thats the only thing you see. If it would have had this type of flooring in the first place, the soft spots would have never happened.

Click on the following link to see more pictures with the camper: http://rogerwiese68.myphotoalbum.com/slide...bumName=album01

I look forward to hear from you,
Melinda Wahlman"

This is the reply I sent and will post their next response:

"Hi Melinda,

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly take it at that great price and have my banking info in hand so just let me know how you want to go about getting paid. This is perfect timing, I’ll be in Paris, TX this week on business so you won’t have to pay the shipping which I’m sure would be expensive and I’ll still pay full price.

Consider it sold. This is so exciting! I can’t wait to get that bad boy unpacked to have a look.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

Thanks,

Ferris Bueller"

Not all may be scams, Last week I towed five real travel trailers for a friend to his used car lot all were purchased from a Fema auction, and all will sell for about that price. One was a gulf Stream trail master I do not think it was ever lived in another was a pilgrim International a Bel Air and A Zinger. These are all true travel trails with holding tanks slides.

The camper is already at the shipping company in Paris, TX. sealed and ready for the shipping. Also about payment and shipping we will use eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection Program so we can both be protected. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. They will contact you and you need to wire just $2,900.00 deposit to an eBay`s agent protection program for our safety so I can be sure that you are serious about buying the camper. Please understand that this is my concern because I guess that if you want to buy it your serious. They will keep your deposit in a trust fund and will release it to me ONLY after you have received the camper and decided to buy. After eBay will contact you regarding the payment and you will send them the requested informations please let me know because I need to go to USHIP and tell them that is OK to send you the vehicle. You will pay me the balance after the camper is in your backyard and you are pleased with it. According with eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the camper to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. I will ship it from here on my expense through USHIP. Here is how it will work:
1.First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name, shipping address and phone #.
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment. After you receive the invoice from eBay and decide if you want to continue the transaction and also want to make the payment you will have to let me know and I will start the shipping process and forward you all the details that you need to track your shipment online.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the camper to you. After you receive the camper you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the camper. If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the
money. If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Melinda Wahlman"

Lets see where this reply goes, I’m guessing it will end here but there is nothing wrong with having some fun and making them work for their scams… :D :D

Hi Melinda,

That sounds complicated but I still want to buy it. Not to give too much information into our personal situation but my mother had a serious underwater welding accident and lost her good leg and what really appealed to us was the fact your camper had nice doors. In her current condition that is our top priority, we’ve had campers with bad doors and even before the accident it posed problems for her.

I’d prefer just paying cash on the spot if possible because I’ve unwrapped these before myself and trust me it is a real pain. But it would save money on your end.

Either way I still want it. Please give me your phone number so we can talk about the details. I’m much more comfortable in touching base before sending money, an old gay bar thing but won’t go into the details, it brings back bad memories.

Also, I’m not sure where your new dream home is located but know of homes available for literally pennies on the dollar that are beachfront. Its kind of wrong and underhanded, but million dollar homes for 5 thousand US dollars when the government is turning a blind eye and willing to pay the difference is a pretty good deal.

By the way, Melinda, since I feel like we are practically friends now, has your husband tried any of the prescription male enhancements? We can get those for pennies on the dollar without scripts and that ‘if it lasts for over four hours call all your friends’ is true.

This is so exciting… just think of the possibilities!

Send your number so we can talk.

Thanks again,

Ferris

"Do you think this TT is a scam?"

It's so full of red flags that there's no doubt it's a scam as I'm sure you know!

Wrapped for shipping (so you can't inspect it!)
eBay agent protection program (no such thing)
eBay seller's protection (no such thing if not sold through eBay)

Love the "underwater welding accident"!!

Wonder how long you'll be waiting for the phone#?

Guess I should add: I was a "Trained by eBay" certified trainer a couple years ago.

Man Don you sure make friends fast, how do you do it? You should invite your new friend out for dinner, tell her after you can let her see how those little pills work! Ask if you can get a little more off the price if things work out like you know they will!

I did get a response that seems to be from a different author I’ll post later. I wonder how many people fall for these scams? I guess enough to make it worth their time and plan to waste it for as long they respond

there is a site that deals with these scammers and they play with them like this. One guy actually got the scammer to send HIM money! If I can find the site, I will post it.

on edit: found it...

Yah, I read that story a while ago! Convinced the scammer that he needed money to pay the banks charges to cash his CD if I remember correctly.

Good idea about the reverse scam and here is the last reply they sent:

Monday, April 26, 2010 11:40 PM
From: "Melinda Wahlman" <melindawahlman@msn.com>

"I'm sorry but I don't have a phone right now because I work as a flight attendant for a private flight company, and i don't know exactly when i'll be able to speak with you on the phone. I have a cable modem though and check my e-mail very regularly so if you need to get in touch with me for anything you can shoot me an e-mail. The camper will be shipped from here on my expense through USHIP directly to your door and the shipping process will take around 4-5 days. I'll be paid by eBay only after you will receive and test the camper (you have 5 days for inspection ) If the camper is not in same condition as I said you will ship it back on my expense and eBay will send you a full refund. In order to notify ebay I will need your full name and shipping address so I can open a transaction case and they will contact you for further details and instructions.I want a safe deal and I want to end this transaction through ebay."

Didn’t put much time into it but this is the response I just sent. If they reply again I’ll let you guys know.

Melinda, this is Ferris’s mom Lanisha. I’m just now hearing of Ferris’s plan to buy this for me and sadly he was arrested and jailed the other night for dealing in property he really didn’t own and selling some kind of enhancement drug at club for men but the details are still sketchy at this point.

It was that federales that got him and you know how that goes, sometimes they want a lot of money and other times services will work and this poses a problem for me. I really want and need this camper but without Ferris here I’m not able to get the doctor paid his $300 that has a lien on my 2 million dollar structured settlement from the accident. I should have done this years ago, they gave me 2 million dollars for a leg and cutting it off at 200’ underwater with a plasma cutter I didn’t feel a thing, life’s little lessons.

I’m just not sure what to do at this point, I need a place to live and $300. I’ll make you a deal, get me the $300 to start my settlement payments and I’ll sign half of it over to you and buy your camper. Yes, 1 million US dollars, that is how desperate I am right now.

Another question I have is how well sealed is your camper? I know it varies between sealers and without Ferris here I doubt my abilities in getting it unwrapped by myself since I’m confined to the yard tractor until my prosthetics arrive but they are being shipped COD and won’t have the money so it doesn’t matter anyway. I really don’t know what to do.

Also my dear Melinda, this is the only email between you and Ferris I was able to read because of the storm and I’m in the dark really. If you would be kind enough to resend the details of the camper that would be helpful. Ferris said this is the one we’re getting and trust him but it would be nice to see. He actually won the camper unwrapping contest at the fair 4 years in a row, oh do I miss that boy right now, I’m such a mess.

I realize you don’t have a phone and I’d have to borrow one myself. But if I crawl the mile to the neighbors to use theirs and give you the number would it be possible to call me from one of the pilots phones?

I really need to do something soon because the bugs are getting really bad.

Thank you so much for your help dear, Lanisha

You can tell they read the last reply from their last response and I’m curious if they will buy into any of that jargon and continue?

Deen - It sounds like you have it all figured out. He could also send his cash directly to me and I would be more than happy to route it to your address. That way we could keep it squeaky clean and most everyone would be happy.......... :) :) :)

Here is one from the Shreveport,La Craig List that is a little more believable. Still seems low even without tanks.

Well it sure would have helped if I had included the link! I'm so embarrassed I'm out of the mood now! You'll have to find it
