I posted a bit of information about the upcoming Urea Emissions systems elsewhere. I'm now posting here as it directly applies to those of us who might be looking for a new Class A.
The dealers we've been looking at for our replacement had not heard of the Urea system up here as of a couple of months ago. I had brought it to their attention and one had phoned the Newmar factory to check on this. At that time he had been told that engines produced as of January 1, 2010 would have to be outfitted with the system. However, they also told him that it would be "mid year" before these would be seen on the production line.
As such we felt that picking up a new unit in the spring would safely avoid this new, expensive, system. No such luck.
Today I recieved a call from the dealer that Newmar, and the other company they deal in who also use Cummins power, have informed them that all units built as of January 1, 2010 must have the Urea system on them. So the determining date will be the manufacture date of the RV not that of the engine.
This applies to all vehicle which use the Cummins engines as the Urea system is the one Cummins has chosen to meet the 2010 epa regs. As a result, this will apply to the vast majority of Class A makers in the market at this time.
A few months more lead time would have been nice, might have been able to beat the deadline!

Should indicate that in the title.
Urea is on US roads since 2007.

In Class A RV's??? I'd not heard of that.
What has been using it that's made in the US?
I had heard of it's use in Europe.
No, not ClassA
Mercedes Blutec uses it.
Mounted in several cars and SUVs.

Ah, I see.
I had not seen the Blutec units up here. Not sure if we have them or not, I'll have to look into that.
Thankyou.
