Title: What Do You Guys Think About This Tt?
Description: Help me decide

donsm60 - September 1, 2009 03:59 PM (GMT)
We’ve been without a camper since last year and have had the bug again for a while. We have owned a PU, a few TT’s and a very large 5er so we’re not newbies and have open to all three if a good deal came along, but would prefer a TT for our current use and needs. Well I think I found it in this, it would fit the family perfectly.

New 2006 Fema Trailer on Ebay

I’ve searched the GSA auctions and currently the closest trailers are in Alabama and traveling to see them isn’t really practical at the moment. Have also been watching RV Trader and CL and have looked into some good deals but nothing that made me jump off the fence. I need to spend money like I need another hole in the head at the time but this is not about money (it won’t break the bank), it’s about the ‘life is a short thing - enjoy it’ if that makes sense.

Take a look at the link and tell me what you think, looking at the sellers history they are going for just under 5K and these have the holding tanks. Plus they have 100% feedback and Ft. Lauderdale is only about a 3.5 hour drive from here.

What do you guys think? Push me one way or the other on this, I’m teetering here :)

Where's all the windows???

Or how about this??

No slide, no windows, 3+ years old.... Lots of negatives.

However $4500-$5000 trumps all those negatives!!!!

But make sure it has the gray & black water holding tanks.

Perrysburg Dodgeboy - September 1, 2009 07:54 PM (GMT)
Most of them do not have holding tanks and the refrigerator is 110 volt only!

The description does say it has all three tanks and two propane tanks. But you still only have a 110 volt refrigerator. I'll sell you mine and you won't have any of that formaldehyde to worry about  !

That would make a great camper on a seasonal or permanent site or for hunting if you could get power and a septic system.

The seller has 5 with all 3 tanks and 10 that do not on Ebay and would like the tanks for sure. Also thought about the fridge only being 110 but don’t see that being a real problem because we can keep it plugged in at home and all the camping would be local and within an hour drive.

Looking at the ad the only mandatory purchase I’m seeing would an awning.

Don, I saw your TT listed here and wish it was in the budget, it is very, very nice!

Still on the fence, one minute I’m excited and the next is ‘what are you thinking’ lol

Thanks for the input guys! Keep it coming. :)

Are all 3 tanks for fresh water?

Common sense would tell you it is fresh, gray, and black water tanks, but this is on ebay!

donsm60 - September 2, 2009 12:17 AM (GMT)
Mike, I know what you are saying and thanks, buyer beware for sure! It says self-contained and reading through their prior sales they have sold these units along with the tank less.

From the pictures in the ad it looks to be the same tank meter and water pump control that was in our 5er. The good feedback and only having to pay $500 at the close of auction is also a good thing. But ‘if’ we move forward and ‘win’ I’d probably just leave early and be there Friday morning (ends tomorrow night) and pay at that point. If things aren’t as advertised all I’m out is a day and fuel.

I guess what I’m looking for here is reassurance, IF this is as advertised do you guys see it as a good/great deal or are there ‘others’ to be had that are better. I read Admin’s (Don’s) thread about his TT and it got me seriously looking again. We really want to start camping again but it has to be on a low budget and after a lot of searching this seems to be the best I can find that fits our family well.

Thanks for the input, this is a big decision these days.

Here is the picture from the ad that shows the tank meter/pump switch.

DO NOT buy a "fema spec" trailer.

They are the ones with the problems, and are not allowed to be registered.

There are a lot of production models that are just like the ones off the dealers' lot.
Many are unused and brand new.

Look close and check out the auctions at GSA to find them.

The one pictured above and listed at ebay are both "fema spec".

Thanks for the info about spec trailers, I don’t about the problems and not being able to register them. That’s something I’ll need to research and will keep looking on GSA.

Regardless of the problems the bidding has exceeded 5k and that was my cap and the reserve hasn’t even been met.

Are you close enough to go and look at them?

We have a Keystone and have been happy with it. One of the issues we had was with the top bunk which was a folding bunk pulling a screw out of the wall and tearing the vinyl wallpaper. If the top bunk is fixed you won't have that problem. The kitchen looks a bit strange with a full size fridge but would be a great second one to have at the house.

I would ask about tank capacities for the black, grey and galley. That was a big factor for us. My first thought was about who was living in it and how was it treated but since it was not used, it may be just fine! If my parents were still working they could tell you more about it because they towed a lot of them down there. They are retired now though.

Thanks for the info Kathy! Being in central Fl we’re not all that far but it would be hard to find the time especially for two trips, reading the GSA site it looks like two trips is what would be required, one appointment to view and another to pick up after the auction.

I do have another question; do you guys know if the pictures of the trailers on GSA are the ‘actual unit’ or are they using generic photos?

Perrysburg Dodgeboy - September 3, 2009 11:46 PM (GMT)
generic photos unless it says otherwise. Or all of the ones I looked at where generic photos.

"This may be a representative photo, not an actual photo of the unit(s) being sold."

Hi Don, read that in the Maryland ads and it seems like they are all generic. The current Selma, AL location doesn’t seem to have that disclaimer in the single sale ads I’ve read.

Was hoping to hear from folks that have seen them firsthand there and hear there are some good trailers and not to go by the pictures.

Send them an email through the link and ask them to send actual pictures
