The paper, there was nothing about the recent attack. At least, nothing really of any note. It was said to be a gas main accident at an abandoned army base or something along those lines. He hadn't stayed too close to the story, as he had plenty else to do around here. And his first priority, well, was Jean. But his second, was the kids and keeping them on their feet, and not making this entire place be put on a huge radar, and all of their lives taken from them. But to be fair, it was a close second for the time being. Today was a ruby shades day, the visors would have likely been a little too much on a first meeting. Although if asked, there would be no sense in lying. He had been preaching that to everyone else all week.

He and Jean had been up most of the night getting paperwork together, then relaxing through the night, or at least as relaxing as they could be. A hot bath, and some good food. He hoped it helped her, because it had done a good amount to calm his soul really. She had been out gardening, or something. He knew that there was very likely going to be a conversation, or even more with Logan. But he was doing his best ot let it all pass over him. She'd let him know if anything wa s going to happen, so worrying about it was j ust a waste of time for himself, and for her as well. They needed to get this done, and he couldn't fear what may happen between them just yet.

He set down the newspaper and sighed lightly, she'd be here soon and he'd have to put on his game face. He wasn't the public speaker, but he told Reed he'd do this much for the school, obviously, he knew more about it then just about anyone else so it only made sense that he gave the first tour.

Jace had been flustered that morning. Though she tried to act as though the tape hadn't bothered her, that she was confident in her decision, she had had nightmares. She had tossed and turned and woken up haggard and damp with sweat. She was running late. She hated that. More then the struggle with the decision, the audacity of someone threatening her and her family, that it upset her schedule and her work was incredibly upsetting.

Dressed in a simple sheath dress of navy and a sweater of soft plum over it, she wore low heels and left her hair down. More out of the hurried air of leaving then for anything else. When she finally arrived she knocked at the door sure that security gate had already announced her presence.

His head perked up as he heard the door and he sighed softly to himself, calming himself a bit. Sue had mentioned that she was not a bad person, so that had put him a bit at ease, but that didn't mean there wasn't an intense pressure on his shoulders that he was doing his best to try to lift. After a brief moment of reflecting to himself, he moved to the door and opened it up, offering the best smile that he could muster to the woman.

"Hello there Ms. White, I'm Scott Summers, former student and current teacher here. I thought it would be nice to show you around the facilities, if you have a little time. Of course, I'm prepared to answer any questions you may have." It was a little prepared, but he was trying to keep things informal as well. For him, he wasn't doing half bad though he obviously wasn't someone used to speaking on behalf of a place such as this.

Caught off guard that he answered so quickly and that it wasn't Ms. Storm again she blinked, head shooting up. She gave ea nervous smile herself. "Ah, Mr. Summers. Yes, a tour would be fine, thank you. All of, your inspections have been up to date, but it would be nice to see how the students live." She added stepping in and running a hand through her hair.

"I'm not keeping you from class am I?"

A nervous hand brushed through his hair as he let the woman inside, before closing it behind her, extending a hand to have a formal, real greeting although it was a little late for that probably, the steps all meshing together in his head. "Yes, they are mostly in class at the moment. Mr. and Mrs. Richards, Storm ... I probably should have asked how that went, but the two of them are helping out by teaching some. And Reed is taking my class today, which I'm sure he's far too over-qualified for." He let out a nervous little chuckle, trying to gather his wits about him although it was at least flowing. Even if it was a little rambly, it was flowing.

"The student dorms are on the second floor, I can take you up there if you'd like." He added, nodding towards the staircase.

She gave a nod, "That would be nice thank you. If you have an empty room I could look at that would most likely be easier then having to invade a student's room." She added moving to follow him.

Scott pursed his lips a little bit, thinking of the kid's rooms one by one in his head, "Most of the actual student dorm rooms are taken, I think there's one male though completely open. We can start that way." He started up the steps, pointing to the left and heading that way as they got to the top, "So, how was your meeting with Susan? She's been through a lot recently, we all kind of have, I'll be honest when I say I'm not sure just how much you were told by Fury." No reason to spill the beans, but if she already knew that it could be an open avenue of conversation. Just, feeling the waters so to speak.

She gave a small nod of thanks and headed down the way he gestured. "It was pleasant. I understand you all have been very busy and believe me that I do not wish to make this difficult. I'd just as rather be unobtrusive as possible and finish up as quickly as possible. Hopefully leave you all in peace." She added softly.

Someone in this world deserved a bit of peace, and so few got it. She smiled at the halls, neat, clean. "Well, I must say, whatever your secret for keeping so many teenagers tidy could earn you a fortune."

His ears caught that, that she wanted them to be peaceful, that wasn't exactly something he had expected to hear. He expected someone that wanted to find something, or to get them in a way that they shouldn't, but she seemed to want to do this as fair as possible, "Thank you. You can take, all the time you need Ms. White. I'd rather this get done right, then to rush you out of here. I don't want there to be any doubt that this is the best place for the children, and we take that responsibility very seriously." He offered a soft smile as he pulled out a key to unlock the male dorm room.

"Honestly? Tell them that it's their home, and their responsibility. Sure, when they first get here it can get bad but they start to learn, they don't want to live like that and straighten things up themselves. Funny, how letting them have that freedom usually ends up in the right result. Not always, but mostly." It only took one or two, and the peer pressure began to build and more and more would start up in the cleaning process. It really was fun to watch who would become the leader in that.

He opened the door fully, letting the worker in first, "I take it, you've known people, like us then?"

She ducked inside the room and walked to the center looking around. It was nice. More like a dorm room, which she should have expected, it was a school after all. However many homes for foster kids were nothing more then people that needed the extra cash. So wherever they could find the room they stuck a bed and dresser, some measured down to the barest centimeter to get as many kids as they could shoved in there.

People didn't mean to be cruel, but they just honestly thought that a child in the system wouldn't be able to expect much much more really. Heading to the window she looked out at the grounds. "You'll have to be more specific. I have inspected quite a few homes, schools, foster facilities. So have indeed known quite a few foster parents, teachers, supervisors." she glanced back at him, "and of course foster children."

This room would obviously be a little more clean the the boys' active rooms, but surprisingly not by all that much. They took care of their things, and it in turn gave them more freedom from the rest of the staff. They would give you that freedom, and just teach and be available, but wouldn't come to check on them at all times. Just enough, to make sure the girls and boys stayed on their own sides. No need for, THAT, kind of thing to happen.

"Well, I was brought here as a foster kid ... but you know what I mean. I'm sure Fury filled you in to why you were given, this job." He leaned against the doorframe, putting a foot up on it as he looked towards her, letting her look over the room. "You were chosen because you would be impartial ... but I'm still not sure why. Most people would jump at the bit to get us closed down." He was being honest with her, because he didn't want to worry about this all biting him in the butt later. He had a feeling she'd respect honesty over hiding things anyway.

She kept her face pleasantly neutral. "Ah, you mean, mutants?" She asked. "Oh I am well aware as to why I was hired, and will undoubtedly be fired, from this job. I think more people have had interaction with those they call mutants then they think. My husband was a mutant, not that I knew right away but I didn't really see how it made much difference. This school is honestly, to me, just another foster facility. If the children are happy here, if they are healthy and you meet all the requirements of a foster facility, then I don't really see what the one has to do with the other Mr. Summers."

Scott nodded softly, understanding even if she was a one and a million type of human, but she was certainly the kind that they were hoping everyone could be. It wasn't like the mutant community wanted anything special, they just wanted to be equal. "It is, we try to make sure that the kids have somewhere safe to be, and something productive to do. We're not trying to change anyone's way of thinking, we're not trying to do anything out of the ordinary really. Just letting them know, that life isn't over just because of that has happened to you. So, I do have to thank you for giving us a fair shot. And anything at all I can do to help you with this, please let me know."

He pushed lightly off the wall, moving to walk along the wall of the room, "You said was .... I'm, assuming the worst when I say I'm sorry for your loss." He added, hands moving to the top of his head, wondering how he'd react in her shoes, and knowing full well that he wouldn't be able to walk with his head held high if something happened to Jean, at least not for a good long while.

Her eyes flickered back out the window, the grounds, the sky. "He was doing what he loved, and what he believed in. He wouldn't want anything more." She answered softly. A quick but very impersonal smile that never reached her eyes and she headed for the door. "But thank you. So, how about we check out the kitchens? You must spend a fortune on food for a school full of teenagers."

He hadn't meant to say more then that, just that he was sorry for her loss, and he'd let it all go after that. It made more sense though, she had a dead husband and now she was okay with the cause, maybe not pushing for it, but not fighting against it. That was more then enough for him, "You're very welcome. Yes, the kids can eat more then a small army, but we make sure there is plenty there. Easily one of the most expensive items we have to get on the list." He offered a professional smile as well, keeping the door open for her as they could make their way for the kitchen. "I'd be more then welcome to feed you, if you haven't eaten yet today."
