Lorna’s comment on political agendas was drowned out as the dynamic duo Richards decided to get downright nasty. First Sue bit his head off, channeling the same snarkyness that Jessica Drew made her livelihood from, and then Reed parroted her. It was obvious who the boss in that relationship was.
Sue had also cast Lorna from the room and Rogers would wait for her to leave before opening his own salvo. Rising from his seat and strapping his pack over his shoulders he took a moment to let his jaw unclench before speaking in the calmest voice he could muster.
“ I don’t know if you’re just untrusting of the government or you’re just plain out rude to all your guests, but I’ll let the lay of the land be known to you both. With or without the backing of SHIELD, I am going to do the right thing. I am going to make this land as safe as I can. Doesn’t matter if I have help or not. As for my publicity stunt? You can look at it one of two ways. Either I am not going to bring the heat down on my men when I can take it, or maybe as CO I don’t need to ask subordinates if I’m allowed to tell the bad guys the good guys are not gonna allow them to blow the world to hell.”
“It’s called a chain of command.”
Rogers began to address his sly infiltration of the school from under the Richards’ noses. “I came to you. I had Lorna get me in contact with leadership, so don’t give me that underhanded bullshit!” Rogers spat the last word in a hard whisper, adding, “Lorna was here because as leadership you two are in the dark. Logan didn’t trust you enough to leave word for me so I couldn’t just ask you about it, now could I? And now something is wrong.”
Looking toward the door Rogers shook his head slowly. “And you are so holier then thou art, clinging to your bureaucracy and position to keep your secrets safe while people need help. Some heroes you are. I just feel bad when your human fireball or gravel man comes up missing and you need help. Maybe when it’s in your own backyard you’ll be able to see how it feels and act like human beings.”
Rogers was livid. Sure he was working in a contained rage, but the fact that people were so self centered these days just burned at his gut.
“I’m just sorry Xavier entrusted his name to you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have missing X-men to locate.”

Sue laughed, actually laughed. "So hypocricy works for you then? You boast you don't need your team or their input because it's chain of command, then come here and first thing you do is insult OUR chain of command. When the X men needed help from Alkali lake, they called us, not you. When they needed help with the FOH, they called us, not you. As a matter of fact, the only reason you were involved was because Reed called Tony. So you can stop spouting that you know all do all and am right in all things. You want to help, then show it. Actions speak louder then words Mr. Rogers and so far your actions have been nothing but insulting. How dare you. Why anyone put their trust in you I don't understand but Jean did. Perhaps she didn't know that you had no respect for anyone and the rules only applied when YOU wanted them to. Chain of command, only when it works for you, the law? Only when it works for you. You just admitted you will do as you please when you please with or without the government's consent or backing, yet, you will also do what they pay you for. Make up your mind Mr. Rogers. Then, when you can give the same courtesy to other people that you demand, get back to us."
Her cell rang and she swore under her breath. Standing she grabbed it and headed to the desk to take the call quietly. She frowned and glanced to Reed before sitting down and putting the phone to her ear. "Yes he's here, and he's just lovely. . . . . . . No, she hasn't been back, you're sure you sent her to the school? And that she was planning on coming?" Her frown deepened as she booted up the computer system, her eyes flashing back to Rogers. "I really think this can be handled without loose canons. Your team is fractured adding someone that doesn't. . . . . . . Right. . . . . . . . . . Fine, you're calling the shots." The last part said with a look to Rogers before she hung up.
"Don't ask me why but Jean says to let Steve work on things. Of course, that's if he can understand the chain of command around here. Which is not him in charge. Otherwise, you and I need to make arrangements to look for a lost caseworker. It's possible SHIELD is done with her."

Lorna was frustrated. She didn’t like how she was simply patted on the head by Reed and Sue and dismiss. She seriously couldn’t believe that since she was not twenty-one they were treating her like she was an infant which was so not cool. She wanted to reminded them both if she was mature enough to go on a rescue missions she should be mature enough to witness a non-life threatening conversation. She wanted to remind them that she had more at stake in the conversation then any of them. She was a mutant and the school was her home, where everyone else in the room despite their abilities they are still humans and despite their best intentions and current positions they were just visitors at the school.
Old people were annoying and it was more annoying they treated her like a child in front Steve. The green eyes narrowed in annoyance and frustration knowing anything she would say would fall on deaf ears. Everyone had already made up their mind. They saw her as no nothing child and word otherwise would be saw a tantrum. So wordlessly she turned on her heels and left them, keeping her anger to herself.
Lorna didn’t go far. She leaned by the door outside the office. She was doing her best to make out the conversation that she was apparently too young to hear. Eavesdropping seem the most mature and productive thing to do at the moment. Lucky for her she had been in trouble enough that she knew where to stand to hear the most going on in the office and none of them were telepaths.

Wow. Things sure had hit a bad stride. Rogers had to give the woman a few inches. She had just been through the kidnapping by the F.O.H. and she was a civilian. She wouldn't understand the regiment he was used to dealing with. They had two completely different frames of mind and he could continue to butt heads with her or he could focus on what really mattered.
Thankfully after her dressing down Susan took a cell phone call and Rogers took a deep breath. Calm heads were needed to prevail and so he tried to reclaim his center.
Sue got off the phone and dicatated terms. Rogers let the woman finish and then asked in an even tone. "So what's the plan?"

Sue went to stand, thought better of it and sat back down. "Ms. White was sent, by SHIELD to investigate the school. Jean said they sent her back to the school with information she got regarding, well problems. She hasn't arrived yet and that's a bad sign. Logan and Jean wanted her safe, and her information looked at, then given to you." she finished looking at Steve. She was tired already, how did the Professor do it?
Rubbing at her forehead she sighed. "She's driving a VW bug, light blue and should be on her way here."

Reed had a hand on Sue's shoulder, rubbing gently to try and help calm her down a little bit. He knew that she was upset, and honestly he was a bit as well but he was never the type to get too angry, or lash out too hard. He simply tried to help calm her down, and knew that they could talk about it later. They all had other things on the agenda before worrying about a bit of fire between one another.
"Then I propose that we meet her at the door, the quicker we can get her safe, the better. And I do believe a bit of fresh air could help everyone."

Lorna wished they would speak louder it was easier to eavesdrop that way. Sue’s voice was the hardest to make out, but she managed to hear something about something white, Logan and Jean wanting something and a bug. She was trying to figure out how it all piece together and began to wonder did Logan and Jean thought the school was bugged or something. Maybe the social worker had bugged the place during her visit…
When Reed spoke Lorna very clearly heard the word door and took it as a sign to move away from the door before she got caught. She hopped quickly away from the door and study the pictures lining the wall to at least cast the illusion she hadn‘t been eavesdropping at all but very fixated on the decor on the across from Xavier‘s office. Each picture was of a Xavier’s graduating class, starting from the first to the most recent class. Lorna made note that Scott was a bit of a dorky looking teenager.

Sue explained the plight of Jacinda White and Rogers nodded. He'd be playing pick up for the woman. "Ok. She's going to be arriving here, from where? We can intercept her most likely route. Does she have a cell phone number?" If they couldn't reach her the easy way Rogers figured that Reed would use some sort of complicated mathmatical formula to pick the route White would use down to the last decimal point. He was supposed to be the smartest man on Earth after all.
Reed proposed going out to meet her and Rogers stood himself. Action meant momentum and a warrior lived and died by momentum or lack therof. "We going together or shall I follow you on my bike?"

Sue sighed, "We can't all go and leave the students alone. I can check her cell, but they seemed to think it important she be found right away. I don't know what the information is, and if she was sent by SHIELD, wouldn't she. . . . " She shook her head, she really didn't know what to think about SHIELD anymore.

Reed crossed his arms a little bit as he nodded to them, "I don't mind staying with the children if you need to go, or I can go myself. But I think one of us should stay." That much was for certain, as they were supposed to he the helping 'heads' of the school. But honestly, Reed was content as long as they made the decision quickly and got out there.
