[Sir Thomas More]

I am wanting more connections to the More family AND...as of right now this is the only one. But I will add more as I think of them. This will be his other adopted daughter.

Points to know:

1. The daughter of the midwife who delivered his son, John. She was orphaned when her mother died of a fever.
2. She will come to Thomas More for help. Out of Christian charity, he will adopt her and raise her as one of his own.
3. Calling her "Mercy", he will instruct her on how to be a proper lady, and educate her in how to read, write, how to do some math, and languages (Greek and Latin).
4. When he comes to court, she will ask to come with him, and he will at first say no. But he will begrudgingly agree, but only so he might continue to educate her. He will keep a close eye on her.

Desiderius Erasmus, 42, PB: Paul Bettany

Points to know:

1. He is a well-known Renaissance humanist, was a Catholic priest, and is theologian. Almost everyone has heard of him due to his works The Handbook of a Christian Knight and The Praise of Folly, the latter published with the help of his friend, Thomas More, in 1511.
2. Born to parents who were not legally married, he cared for them until their deaths from the plague in 1483. Poverty forced him into the monastery, and he was ordained as a priest not long after.
3.He came to England to study in the year 1486, when he was twenty years old, on the recommendation of the Bishop of Cambray, Henry of Bergen, to study at Canterbury College at Oxford. While there, he met young Sir Thomas More and was impressed by the young lad's proficiency in learning.
4. Erasmus continued his education at Cambridge University, where he became a lecturer not long after he graduated at the insistence of Bishop John Fisher.
5. He lives the independent life of a scholar, and prefers to make his own way without any patrons. Thus, he is continuously asking others for money so he might do independent studies.
6. Starting his studies of the Greek language; fluent in Latin.
