The circumstances were highly ironic, even for someone as calculating as Aimee Voltaire. Who would have guessed that Dollet's biological warfare would be directed at a place so connected to the element of lightning?

Of course, no one but Teralyn could really appreciate the inherent humor at the moment. The rest of the area was actually rather despondent, which was natural considering their situation. There was definitely nothing to laugh about in this place.

Unarmed, the Genesis operative slowly approached the city, carefully watching for signs of Shadow Clan members. There was definitely a right way to go about offering her assistance, which meant not haphazardly throwing up barriers until given permission... as difficult as that was.

She waited to be approached. Given that the city was probably under quarantine (provided the Shadow Clan had its act together), she'd be stopped at the gate.

The quarantine was rather severe, largely due to Dollet's warnings, but also due to the efforts of one particular man who was currently present at the gatehouse along with the guards. A younger man, with dark blue hair, and a bit shorter than the other female guards scattered around. Unlike most human men, he seemed unfazed by the number of viera running around; he was either a local, or focused.

Judging by his white coat and clipboard, it was probably a combination of both. He had been speaking to one of the guards as the newcomer approached, and wove the matter aside as the guard approached her.

"This area is under strict quarantine. Do you have a permit?"

If Teralyn was watching the crowd as the guard spoke, she might see Tetran Montyr leading a small group of infected Viera to a treatment center about three blocks away.

Teralyn nodded respectfully to the guard. "No, I'm sorry, I don't have any identification. My name is Teralyn Zerauac, and I'm an expert on barrier magic. I caught wind of the biological attack here and wanted to speak with a Shadow Clan representative so I can offer my assistance."

She eyed the city behind the man, assessing the impact of the disease. They seemed sure that this was an easily transmissible disease, considering the quarantine measures. The more of that they needed, the better off she was.

The man in the coat turned, "I'm the representative in charge of treatment. I can take you to speak with an actual officer, but you'll have to be vaccinated. We're not sure of the transmission of the disease, or even the effects. The virus seems to be in an incubation phase."

[Aredjay]

The small group entered the building, with Tetran coming back out a few moments later, a young human boy following him. The Bangaa appeared to be looking for the kid's parents, who had been vaccinated a couple hours ago.

Teralyn smiled and shook her head slightly. "No, it's fine, I won't be needing a vaccine. Anyways, may I offer you my assistance? Like I said, I'm highly proficient with barrier magic, and the quarantine you've established doesn't appear to have provided for ecological security."

As she spoke, the woman traced a few symbols on the back of her hand, then pressed the palm of the same hand just below her neck. A faint glow passed over her entire body before sparkling and dissipating, leaving her skin with a faint shimmer about it.

The doctor frowned, "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. My name is James Derrida, head of Biological Weapons Countermeasures for the Mobliz Incident. When I said you need to be vaccinated, it wasn't a suggestion."

Despite the harsh words, the powerful mentalist was weaving an air of calm through the room, which suddenly turned more normal as he was distracted. "Tetran. Report."

He had balls, talking to actual officers that way.

~Meanwhile, across town~

"Sir, Orders from above. We're to set sail now."
"... Ready my ship."
"Yes, Lord Izumi."
"... Paris, is our little surprise ready?"
"Yes, my lord."
"... Good."


"This aught to teach the good doctor his lesson."

The Bangaa's eyes rolled. He didn't particularly like being addressed in that tone, but what could he do? Mobliz needed the doctor at the moment.

"Approximately 35% of the citizensss have been vaccinated. Do you think we have enough for the ressst of them?"

"I understand your concerns, but my barrier will be good enough to protect me for the time being. Do you need my help in putting up barriers here, or may I enter the city and speak to a Shadow Clan representative?"

Besides, even if Teralyn did find herself infected, it would be simple to isolate the infection. As long as it didn't erode control of her body, she'd be fine. The most important thing was infecting the test vessel with a sample of the virus, which could be done either through direct on-site inoculation or by procuring a sample here and returning to the Divinorium with it.

"You're not getting in the city unvaccinated. I have a reputation to consider, and in any case, it's for your own good. See you later."

Teralyn sighed. "Okay. Just a minute, I need to go remove my wards and I'd like to do so somewhere private."

Without waiting, she stepped off into the forested area surrounding the city, finding a shadowy grove in which to rest.

"White Rain, this is Teralyn Zerauac, subordinate of the Immortal of Lightning. Requesting harm-potential analysis of the vaccine carried by one James Derrida. Also, requesting permission to partake in said vaccine, provided it is harmless."

She paused, listening, waiting for a response. As she did, she began to incant arcane words, slowly lifting the barriers surrounding her body. The balance of the barriers she'd placed on herself was far too precarious; she'd definitely need to remedy that next time.

White Rain sure was taking a while today.

Analysis of the small portion of vaccine that had been shipped abroad and lost would suggest the vaccine had no harmful side-effects outside of those normal to a vaccine; the risk of slight fever or rash in the more sensitive people who were given it.

Tetran coughed, waiting for a response.

"Teralyn, this is Lia Akio, Sector 2. You are cleared to be vaccinated, there will be no crippling side-effects."

She nodded, proceeding out of the grove and back towards the city gates.

Alright, good. Best to be careful, though.
