Cochran carefully tipped the vial over, as its viscous contents poured over Brittany's mouth. He murmured words of apology now and then, as he fed Brittany the drink. Once the vial was empty, he sat down and prayed to Famfrit.
He waited. He worked hard for that gil; now he truly hoped Famfrit would make Brittany wake up again. He didn't know where Seth or Phillip were, but at least if she would wake up, he can finally search for them with her. He had done much evil to get this far. This was by far the worst. The guilt panged heavily in his mind, but he had no choice. It was the only thing he could do -- nothing could change things as well as Gil could. The root of all problems, and the solution to it all. His thoughts were disturbed with the awakening of the Viera before him. His eyes opened. His mouth turning and forming into a smile. "K-kupo! It...it worked!" -------------------- |

It's been a week, and Brittany appeared to have gotten much better. Cochran was so delighted. He sat by her in the canals of Windurst Walls, their legs dangling in the air before the large expanse of what was once part of the city, now flooded into a lake. The Star Tree rose and spread its life over the air.
"I...I had a dream." Brittany said. "Someone called me." Cochran looked her over. "Kupo?" She stared into the water and gazed on her golden-skinned face. "I couldn't quite understand, but..." she shrugged. "He said my name...'Fay Brittany'." Cochran recalled then that the name everyone always called her was from her adoptive mother. She was a doctor, too, and had died when Brittany was young from a similar comatose illness. "What are you getting at, Kupo?" he asked her. He didn't understand what this dream meant. He didn't really think it mattered. Dreams are dreams, they never have meaning. She shut her eyes for a moment and reveled in the air for a moment, letting the winds blow her silvery hair. She opened and sighed. "You're right...it probably isn't important." she said, guessing at Cochran's thoughts. She sled her legs back up onto the wooden platform and stood. "I think I'm ready to go--" she suddenly lost her footing and nearly fell into the water. She recomposed herself and stood straight. "I can't let you go with me, Brittany...it's not safe, kupo. Besides, I told you I'm going to Jagd Helje." he reprimanded her. He half-wished he didn't have to leave her, but he really needed to get to Jagd Helje and join the Clan. He felt obliged since they have already done more than enough to help him. "You can join me when you're in tip-top shape, kupo." he offered her a smile, which she hesitantly returned. "Mmm...fine then..." she rested her head on her shoulders, closing their eyes as if imagining something sweet. "In the meantime, please be careful, all right?" she reminded him, giving the aura of a mother straight to Cochran, who took in every bit of it. He nodded humbly, and began to head back to his room to prepare. -------------------- |
