Job re-registrations/Preparing for the Canons |

Creations templates are done!! I'm hoping that this will get things up and running again, as for salvaged jobs. I'd have to ask you to re-register them in the new format, just like when you did with charas and clans. This time, I need you to reduce the amount of abilities as much as you can but enough that you may retain the originality of the job.
- For instance, variations of elemental physical and magic attack can all be performed under the mechanism of free style attack. So that only unique maneuvers of attacks should remain. Status-inflicting abilities need not to be listed, but put in the description of the statuses you can use, positive, negative or double-edged. - Pairing a job with a common meta-skill is a good idea. - Admins and mods are all up for stampage.

By mid-Oct when I will have finished my exams, I'll certainly get my hand on the canons of Fantasia.
So, tell me everything that need to be explained in the canons. Regarding death, afterlife, life, universe, everything!
Basically, canons are going to be a history of Fantasia, how the land was born and civilized, a closer look at each race, totemas and geography, detailed enough you'll be able to make a world map out of it. Monsters and important figures of the past. Also an OOC history of the forum will be presented in the museum so if anyone want to contribute the information about the early days of Fantasia, it'll be much appreciated.
Wishing all the best for you guys and happy RPing. your once-in-a-couple-months-admin, Zvane the XIII |

Since my college classes officially start on Thursday, I'm promoting Chocky to Admin to fill that particular hole in the staff. I'll still find some time to drop by and post where needed, though. |

Fantasia under maintainance. |

As for now (Sat 13 Jun 09, 10PM GMT+7) onwards, I, Zvane, will be working around the forum via Admin CP, and I don't have a clue how to put the forum under maintainance status...
So it'll be some mess and changes here and there while I work. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Plus, I assigned Tick-Tock Guy as an Ad Hoc Moderator to work as my aide.
Thanks, Zvane |

Admin power auhorization: Board renovation |

Even though I'm now entitled with Admin power, I'd like to ask for some green light here before I make changes around the board. As for board renovation, I will do the following:
- Archive the good old golden topics in one place, like "Fantasia Museum Archives" for all to see. Also older epic RPs will be kept in special forum in each country. - Compile Fantasian backstory into one, official topic - Redo Character BBS and Clan BBS, charas will have to be be re-registered with the new system, although older characters will be kept in archives. RPing with unregistered character is still okay, but will be asked for attribute identification later anyway. - Job database is no longer significant, so we can try to clean out jobs with less effort. As for currently active and jobs we're going to keep as choices for RPing, discuss and label them with suggested attributes or just put in the general combat style. - Meta-Skill will have its own database, character-exclusive meta-skill must be registered and limited per person, general meta-skill will be discussed. - "Other archives" forum will be used to keep all other unsued topic, some could be deleted. - New skin for the forum. |

Battle system infrastucture |

I just know I have no right to show up with grandiose and let loose with my wild ideas anymore. So I'm doing this in effort to bring some fresh air to breathe.
Now, Locke and I has been talking months ago and he said to me that he wanted to see the RP flows of Fantasia going towards more freestyle and less reliant on vast collection of jobs and abilities and what each ability do. I began to abhor the battle system with numbers and figures I once tried to standardized.
So here is what I came up with months ago, it doesn't have a name, but I can briefly describe it as "tactical freestyle battle infrastructure"
It's not very different from what we're doing now. Just that I'm replacing the job/skilled-based system into less complicated way to define a character's battle style. Here's the deal.
- The big picture of this is, instead of starting off with jobs, you are all starting off with general guidelines of how your character will battle, plus your own lifetime personal job.
Attributes: You will be able to mark your emphasis on each combat style up to 5, which means how much you will be relying on each combat style. Emphasizing everything at once is virtually impossible so be serious of how you choose your combat style. - Martial: Atk. Pow/Atk. Def - Arcane: Mag. Pow/Mag. Res - Stealth: Agi, general mobility - Tactical: Status afflictions - Support: Heal+Supportive statuses /General Defense -- Reminder: these are NOT how good you are, just how much you rely on that style. (i.e. A 2 martial character can still be on par with 4 martial in physical combat, but if that is considered godmoding is another story.)
- You can name your move and title of personal job anything you want, from the existing database or just anything. The difference is that the job database is not anymore essential, so it should be more accomodating for new members not having to choose from over 100 jobs we have (they still can) and having their own fully customizable character right off the bat.
Innate elements: Magic users can actually use any element as usual, but a compatible element means stronger attack than others and stronger resistance as well. Each person can have 1-2 innate elements and one single innate element is always stronger than two.
- Innate element sounds a little Naruto, but it's just another feature to create new strength/weakness to the character's battle style. We're stick to Final Fantasy series' standard 8 - Earth/Fire/Wind/Water/Ice/Lightning/Holy/Dark
Meta-skill: Is an extra technique, be it extra A- S- or R- ability assigned in a battle, usually powerful and with limited use. This eliminate having extreme skills to themselves all the time as meta-skill is not unique to one person, but availible to everyone when one has choosen the required attribute emphasis degree. (Ex. 4 Martial and 1 Tactical, 2 Support).
- Basically, character type and "Meta-skill" is all profile you need to know when battling against a chara. "Meta-skill" is like custom, big skill in addition to normal "move" Meta-skill is just to avoid creating multiple near-godlike skills at one's character disposal. Because each "move" in the freestyle battle can't extremely differ in terms of power. "Meta-skill" is one best shot, defining skill for the character.

Putting it all together, it's something to envelope what we have now, and make it appear easier to understand and be used by beginners, that's what I think. |

So far... |

First report:
~First order of Issue I have discovered the following things on how to edit Final Fantasy Tactics: 1)You can completely edit sprites, Hence You can introduce totally costumizable characters into the game (YAAAAAAY!) 2)HOWEVER, I cannot edit the total numbers of units in your party, witch means I can't make a party of more then 16 characters. My advice would be getting 13 characters (so we can get the max out of the Zodiac symbol system) that are related with final Fantasia. Much like the game, the last three slots would be used for generic characters, for mission purposes, I presume. 3)It is easier to hack the PS1 version 4)You can cater stats to your own liking, so the possibility for costom jobs is confirmed. The possibility to balance already existing jobs is also there. 5)I can script the game to my own liking, meaning I don't need to use the Zodiac Brave story, as good as it is. 6)It's hard, and it'll take time, months possibly. Well, I said I had no experience editing games in FFHacktics, the mods said Its easy to learn, but editing the whole game isn't
~Second Order of Issue: So far I need: 1)Download software, FFHacktics already provides this 2)I'd like to keep the original Job system, but at least add 8 new jobs, plus the Dark And Onion Knight jobs from the PSP versions, this is not including the costom character jobs. 3)Sprites, lots and lots of sprites. 4)A good story, something that can easily provide 50 hours of gameplay (I'm thinking shadow Clan vs Shinin aliance storyline) 5)A staff, obviously. this would take much more less time with a staff 6)Two words: Private Subforum. Inside this forum if possible. 7)Oh, and a lineup of characters, I already have a mental Draft. But I want to have you guys to suggest stuff for me |

Now that I have your guys' attention, we need to do somethin'.
Let's face it: Locke's a pretty busy guy. And right now Fantasia relies almost exclusively on him to have any progress.
Now I'm not saying we ignore anything with Locke in favor of other things, but we should really do more independent-and-RP-with-other-people-stuff.
I'll move this to Announcements as soon as someone gets angry at me over it ;D |
