Sailor's Island - Skies of Arcadia
~~~
It was only a few hours into the afternoon, but the crew of the dirigible airship Wing's of Steam was ready to retire for the night. The sun glinted off of the cream-coloured envelope of the airship as it maneuvered in the air to land in one of Kefka's many tree-top docks. As the mooring lines were connected by the ground crews, the ship started to resemble a giant fruit of some unknown species.
Yagami rotated the ship's telegraph, a mechanical switch that rotated an arrow which pointed to instructions for the engineer. At the moment, it signaled for System Choke, indicating that the engine should be extinguished.
He headed up to the catwalk to wait for the engineer to meet him.
Kagai extinguished the engine, and washed some of the dirt off of her face and arms before heading up. When she did, she appeared to be drumming a quiet beat on her forearm with her index finger.
Yagami nodded to her, almost to tired for words, "Inn, or the cabins?"
"Your choice, Cap'n. I'm fine wherever."
"Cabins, then. More money for provisions later, I suppose." He put a hand in his pocket, "If you're looking to go shopping, I have your wages for the last few days ready here..."
"It's all fine, Cap'n. Pay me when we're more conscious."
And she went down to the cabins.
"Works for me."
Yagami locked himself in a cabin. He made a final log entry and settled down. Most likely, he would sleep through the rest of the day, the night, and then wake up tomorrow morning.
Kagai pulled out her own diary and wrote an entry, mostly consisting of what she thought of Yagami and the ship itself; the opinions on both were high (though of course the Wings of Steam won out).
The next morning, Yagami awoke just after the sunrise. He changed out of his pajamas into less extravagant clothing than usual. He removed some of the gold from the chest in his room, carefully counting out the correct amounts he'd need. This he pocketed, before locking the chest again.
He scribbled a quick note, and slipped it under her door.
"Kagai; I'm bathing in the washrooms; please wait for me to go back to my cabin before you head over there."
Kagai was sound asleep, though she stirred slightly at the noise. Give her ten more minutes, and she'd probably be... semi-conscious.
Yagami took less than four minutes, changing back in his room.
After he was dressed, he removed a gem from his drawer. It was a ruby of very plain cut, though it might not have been an actual ruby. It had a faint glow, and was slightly cloudy.
He put the gem in his pocket before heading back out of his room.
Amazingly enough, Kagai was actually awake by now. She had read the Captain's note, and went down to the washrooms to wait for him to be done. Upon finding an empty shower, she started hers.
Yagami waited for her on the dock, talking idly with a longshoreman.
Several minutes later, Kagai was up on the dock, freshly clean and with her hair tied up.
"Good morning, Cap'n."
