Wind lapped at his blonde lock gently as he stood on the edge of the balcony. It was proably around midnight but the city below, quiet as it was, was still glowing lightly froom the late night bars. forearms rested on the blacony railing bend his long slender frame slightly. Eleven years. That sounded almost right. He wasn't sure anymore. Crnkling cound brought his attention to the letter in his hand. His sisters had never let him rest. When he was back home they'd nag and they still do. A letter once a week would come and the five pages, front and back, of paper were nothing but endless nonsense. God they were annoying. A pause. had they always been like that? He couldn't remember. Mind barely reclalled their eighteen year old faces on the day he left. However the paper he held was short and sweet. the sixth page and of a different writer. His mother. Age was affecting but other then that she still got suitors daily. He would've smirked in the past but his face remainded indifferent.

He glanced up to the sky and glared at the light cloud cover. He hated weather. oh well. Eyes shut where had Xavier gotten to? He hadn't seen him around much. They weren't that busy currently but they'd just gotten through a busy time so perhaps he was with his children. He never had grasped the whole family love thing. But his family wasn't like this one in the least so that was proably the reasoning. amber eyes slitted back open and he glanced to the book at his elbow. It was rather precariously balanced. He watched the leather bound cover with gold inset letters be caught in the bottom by a strong breeze and promptly tompled onto the balcony. Slam resounding in the silent space making him wince. He liked silence far to much.

Nai was sent, to do whatever was needed, sent around the palace to do this or that, or whatever needed done.. Her once agian its White hue.. everyone saw her with brown hair.. so those guards that asked, she said she dyed it white.. so no questions were really asked.. She paused hearing a thud, and moved over that way guessing something needed picked up. She stopped seeing the man.. 'no, the priest..' she lowered her gaze and spoke as softly as she could.. "I'm sorry if I'm disturbing.. do you need any help?" she asked as gently as she possibly could..

Amber gaze cast to the side to the voice's owner. The soft tone told him already it was a slave. Stomach churned. He didn't like people underminding themselves or others.
"I've never needed help." he muttered it was a harsh statment but his tone was to indifferent to make it bite or sting like it normally would. Body lifted from the railing to the full six three height before turning to face her and leaning on the rail with his hips, arms crossed of his chest in a relax manner, barely folded on each other.

"However it is your duty to do so isn't it." a statement of power. So his indifferent self was cold. So what? He had gotten to his rank and skill by hard work not asking. If someone is trying to stop you from doing something distory them. His brother had told him that. one of the few things he had been told that he actually followed.

Nai looked up t him, a hint of a glare in her ice blue orbs, but for the most part it was well hidden.. "If you dont need my help, i'll be on my way." She stated softly, a tad bitterly.. Ungrate bunch they all were!

he caught the glare but found anythign he would say usless. So he stared indifferently at her.
"You are to do you duty, which would entitle you to pick it up." he muttered softly he picked up the bitterness in her voice and fought with himself for a moment. Before adding;
"You best not serve others with that tone." not that he minded. He found it better then the softly spoken obedient mindless tones they always used. "The king would have it beat out of you."

Nai was silent for a moment.. okay.. he was the priest, but who was he, that he noticed her bitterness, and was not angered? She tensed then continued gently, but still bitterly. "But as you've said you've needed help, I can leave you be and give my assistance to someone eles." She stated.. She didn't much fear this man, like she didn't any other. Most of them were disgusting only wanting her so to speak, so, if this one was just going to speak, She'd stay untill she got something out of him if she could.

"Do you enjoy their company more then mine?" he asked tone the same but he was curious how the slaves thought. He'd only used a slaves assistance if he needed it for a ceramony of some sort. Other then that he kept to himself. He pushed from the railing and lifted the book which had landed pages open downward. He studied the cover for a moment before glancing to her.

"do you read?" he asked looking back to his beloved book. Only when he read or was reading in a silent area did he truely feel relaxed.

Nai didn't know how to respond to that... prefer their company over his? She blinked a few times, but heh, thankfully he asked another question.. "Yes.. I do.." She stated gently.. First time she was ever asked if she read before...

For the first time in ten years the corners of the lips twitched in a small microscope smile before disappearing.
"Then perhaps you'd like to assist me in finding more intruing books in the Royal Libary. Have you ever been in there before?"
it was a sad fact of life that the one common ground he wished ot have with others was in reading. and only reading. Things beyond that were beyond him at times, seeming pointless most of the time.

He nodded no use in saying good if she accepted. He tucked the book into a inside chest pocket of his white clothing, a cross between a robe and a long coat with a darker vest like clothing underneath to contrast the white. The emblem of his family was stamped on the back. A cross like design only with a warped sense to it.it bent oddly and was sideways.
"Have you ever read of the works in there?" he asked voice runnign a little softer now as his mind settled into the act of a conversation more. He was shoulder to shoulder with her now and took a few more steps then glanced over his shoulder to see if she was indeed coming. for many said one thing then did another.

Nai blinked, and moved following, she normally did as she said she would, more of from the fact of her pride as a wolf, but that, and it was the right thing to do. "I've only glanced at titles while I was dustign.." She stated gently..

"did any of them intruge you?" he asked curiously and started his pace once more. The libaray wasn't far from the hall. Only down the west corridor a bit. However it was easilly the biggest of all the rooms. And the one he most commonly used. Unpon entering the hall a messager ran up and handed his a notice. He scanned it and tucked it into the same pocket as the book. It wasn't that important. He realized then he still held the letter from his mother. He crumpled it and gave it to the messager with orders to burn it in the first fire he saw.

"I'm surpised they dust. Normally I'm the only one in the room." he muttered he never recalled anyone coming in. Corse he had fellen alseep there a few times as well.

Nai was silent for a few moments as she listend to him.. She gave a faint nod. "It is dusted, 'for if one oft he Royals need to find precious information stored in one of the age old text books.' " She stated, quoting the person that had told her that information.

"Trust me if they need it looked up it's not going to be in there. I'm the one normally in charge of such things, I am the advisor after all. Right?" had his tone not still be indifferent and had he not had the mask of the current persona that statement would come with a chuckle and a smile. However his face stayed solumn.

"I should thank you though. Otherwise hte books would bee all the same. So thank you for doing that." he said hand tucked themselves into his pockets their steps echoing in the hall. He had the odd habit of doing that. Thanking those for doing their jobs. Perhaps because he saw so many guards and slaves slacking...perhaps...
