Prologue

April 12, 1783, Boston, Massachusetts

*~Katie’s POV*~

Spring is finally here, the flowers are blooming around the city and everyone was ready for the long winter to be over with. It seemed like the cold weather would never leave Boston. For as long as I have lived here in this historical city, I have never experienced a winter like this. Perhaps it was because my children were cooped inside the house all winter and it was time they stopped their complaining. Any parent can tell you that winter time is not a favorite season, especially with young children who are balls of energy.

Fortunately, mine are not so young anymore. This does make me sad. My twin boys Joshua, Josh for short and Collin are almost thirteen years old which means it’s almost time for them to start as an apprentice somewhere. Benjamin, named after his grandfather, will be ten in a few short days. Ben constantly follows his big brothers around and Madeline, or Maddie, as she prefers to be called, who will be 7 on Independence Day follows Ben around. I always thought Maddie wanted to be like me, always cooking something and wearing pretty little dresses. Well almost every single day since the day she turned 5, I’ve had to wash her pretty dresses because of whatever stain on there on that day. I’ve discovered that almost anything can cause a stain or scratch.

But I’m not complaining at all, I love being a mother and a wife to a wonderful, loving, loyal, caring, and stubborn as hell husband. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gerry, my husband with my heart and soul, but the man is stubborn just like me. Gerry and I have our share of up and downs like every marriage, but we always manage to get through everything together. Because we love each other and we always will.

My thoughts are interrupted by a strong hand on my shoulder and I turn around to see a pair of intense green eyes staring down at me.

“What are ye thinking about love?” My husband whispers into my ear as I feel shivers go up and down my back. Yes, after all these years, Gerry still makes me feel this way. And my grandfather always told me that Gerry and I have this special kind of love, a love that will last for eternity. A lot of people I know are forced into a marriage, but I was lucky that I didn’t have to, that is until I met Gerry. I knew from day one that we had something special. We never knew it would turn into a lifetime commitment and four children later.

I smile at Gerry who is smiling sweetly at me and I place both of my small hands in his large ones and lace all our fingers together.

“I was thinking about everything,” was my reply as a knock was heard at the door. It was the weekly dinner that we had with our group of friends, it was five families including mine that met weekly at someone’s house for dinner and it was our turn today.

Gerry kisses me lightly on the lips as I smile and kiss him back. He leads me by our hands still laced together as we open the door and see four sets of families standing there with smiles on their faces.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and his wife, Anne Cathy are the first ones to greet and hug us followed by their three children. Then came along Anne Cathy’s brother, Robert and his wife Emily Pattinson and their three children, then Ava and James McAvoy and their children. Last, but not least was Evelyn and Christian Bale, and their four children. All of us with different backgrounds, lifestyles and personalities, but all of us are the best of friends no matter what. These past few years have most certainly have been challenging and eventful, but there are no set of friends I would rather get through the hard times and the exciting times with.

Orlando Bloom, Gerry’s fellow associate then appears from the bedrooms along with his son Sara and their young son. They’ve been living with us ever since my cousin married the famous bachelor in Boston.

“Hi everyone,” Sara greets everyone as they all hug and Gerry closes the door behind them. Anne Cathy, Emily, Evelyn and Ava help their children get settled and then come inside to help Sara and myself in the kitchen.

“Okay is anyone excited that spring is finally here?” Anne Cathy asks and everyone nods in agreement.

“Mom! I’m hungry,” Collin whines from the living room and I see Gerry roll his eyes. Collin is our eater; he’ll eat anything and everything. Josh on the other hand, is picky about what he eats, just like me.

“Collin, honey its coming. You just ate a piece of pie before they came over.” I commented as Collin’s face turned red.

“How do you know about that?”

“She has eyes on the back of her head,” Josh, his twin brother comments as Gerry shot a glare at both boys.

“Keep it up ye two or no dessert.” He says sternly as they both mumbled an apology as we all start to place food on the table and soon everyone sits down and began to eat.

Later in the evening, all the adults had found places around our living room with glasses of wine while watching the kids. Josh and Collin had begun to tell the kids a ghost story when Ben turns around bored and looks at me.

“Mom, why aren’t the Redcoats here anymore?”

I glance at our youngest son with a raised eyebrow, “Ben honey, the war is over. So the British soldiers left Boston. We won the war.”

“Well why did we fight anyways? War with anyone is dangerous,” Ben asks curiously as Gerry and I glance at one another. So all the kids are now looking at us with wide eyes.

“Well the Americans decided to fight the British because we were being taxed unfairly by Parliament and that was not fair to us.” I replied, but was interrupted.

“We didn’t have a voice in Parliament?” Josh asks curiously.

“No son, they thought our opinions didn’t matter since the English had fought with us in the French and Indian war.” Gerry replied.

“That is unfair, I’m glad we did fight.” Collin says and all the boys nod.

“Many men lost their lives fighting for us, so I want ye all to remember that. Ye only have one life to live so take full advantage of it. They died for us to be free. But there are many horrors to fighting, Mr. Bale and I did fight in the very first battle. What we did was brave, but also dangerous.” Gerry points out and I sigh remembering that day. I had no idea if Gerry or Christian would return home alive that day.

“But what happened when it first started?” Erik, one of Evelyn and Christian’s triplets asked.

“Do you all want to know what happened during the war?” James asked and everyone nodded.

“Well alright, get comfortable everyone because this is not a short story. This may take all night,” Anne Cathy warns everyone as they all find places on the floor, “We knew the war had officially started in April of 1775, but there were a couple important events that occurred before. One was the Boston Tea Party.”

“What happened?” Ben asks.

Everyone turns to look at me and Gerry, “Would you two like to explain it?”

We both turn to look at one another, “Go right ahead love,” Gerry replied. I glanced at all the people crowded in my living room as I began to talk.

My name is Katie Butler and this is my story.

It's not only finally up, but it's up early, and particularly, I love this kind of prologues, that start a little ahead in time so you can already tell everybody is safe.

oh, of course I know this won't prevent me from staring at the screen in anticipation, but it still feels good, you know, to see all of them there with their kids recalling what happened. And for me it woukd be a double privilege since, as I said, i never studied this topic at school.

And of course the introduction of the kids was very cute!! yes.gif

Oh my! I love this as a start! I have to agree with Andie on the homely feeling. Really, it's so wonderful to see them all like this because it just begs for a really intense and dramatic story to begin. I love that you ended it with 'my name is Katie Butler and this is my story'. It truly sets the tone for what's about to happen and oooh, I can't wait. I must say, in all my Phantom geekiness, I giggled a little that Gerry was speaking and then my Erik replied to him. I'm starting to get an idea as to how strapping Mr. Butler and Mr. Bale will look in their revolutionary uniforms....mmm, yes indeed. I can't wait for more, love! You have me hooked already!

Pat!! I'm so happy you love it and seeing Christian and Gerry fighting will be very sexy hahaha! It took me forever to end the prologue and it was Sam who suggested that because it kinda has Katie telling the kids about what happened. And I watched Phantom the other day so I liked that too. Having a Gerry and an Erik in there made me giggle! Thank so much for getting hooked! smileys-hug.gif

A/N: I’m taking some account of events from a show called, “Liberty’s Kids.” It’s an animated television series that explains details and events of the American Revolution. So some characters and dialogues of people involved will be used, and I’ll let you know when. Like this chapter, the events of the Boston Tea Party and Sam Adams’ speech in Gerry’s tavern are true and taken from the episode. It’s mainly for the early events in the war.

Everyone will be in the next chapter, I promise. Thanks for reviewing everyone and smileys-hug.gif s to everyone. Here's the next chapter. Enjoy!!

Chapter 1

December 16, 1773 in Boston Massachusetts.

Gerard Butler watched curiously at all the men that had gathered in the family tavern that he owned. He was sure something was going on. Several Patriots had entered the tavern about an hour ago and although, he was a Patriot, he had to be cautious especially with the British always watching all the taverns closely.

He glanced at his good friend and co-worker, British born Orlando Bloom standing there with the same curious look on his face.

“Gerry, do you know what is going on?” Orlando asked curiously as he made another beer for a regular customer, a man named Samuel Adams.

“No I am afraid I don’t know mate, but I have a feeling that we are going to see something tonight.” Gerry replied glancing at Samuel who just smirked and went back to the table where all the men were.

“Gentlemen of Boston, the hour has arrived. Please! Please! Gentlemen, you know me as Sam Adams, neighbor and friend. Hear me now. Parliament continues to treat us with ill will. First the Sugar Act raised our taxes. Did we have a say? The answer is Nay! Then the horrid Stamp Act nearly drove us to ruin! And who can forget our brothers, who lost their lives in the Boston Massacre!” He exclaimed pointing to the painting on the wall as the men began shouting.

Gerry and Orlando glanced at one another in worry; something was going to happen indeed.

“Sam, what are ye applying at? We all know this,” Gerry asked full of curiosity.

“Be patient Gerry, I’m getting to a point,” Sam replied heartily to his friend while turning back to the rest of the men, “Now Governor Hutchinson insists on collecting Parliament’s Tea Tax! Do we have a vote?” he asks practically yelling.

“No!” everyone screamed in protest as Sam glanced around at all the men, not knowing if they would go along with the idea.

“It’s time for us to band together as Sons of Liberty! It’s time for us to become Patriots! And Patriots are men of action. Are you with me?” Sam cried and everyone cheered as men began to disguise themselves as Mohawk Indians and they ran towards Boston Harbor.

“Gerry are you coming with us? You are a patriot as well,” Sam asked at Gerry who had his big green eyes wide.

“Sam I am honored, but I better not.” Gerry replied unsure.

“Gerry you oppose these taxes as every other man in Boston does. You are a Patriot, are you not?”

“Yes I am, but isn’t there another way to handle this? This could be very dangerous Sam.”

“It is dangerous, but it is still your decision. This is the only way we can get through to every single member of Parliament that we are being taxed without representation and that is completely unfair.”

Gerry suddenly threw down the apron he was wearing, “Ye know what Sam? Ye are right, Orlando close up now and go tell Katie that I’ll be home later and that I’m alright please?” Gerry asked as he put on a headband and placed marks on his face.

Orlando nodded as he saw his good friend leave with Sam Adams to make his place in history because no matter how dangerous it was, those men were going to make history. But how was he going to tell Gerry’s wife? Katie was not going to like this at all.

*******

Kathryn Butler sighed as she finished washing the dishes from the late snack that she and her good friend Sara Bloom were having.

“There’s something going on,” Sara said entering the room with the wine glasses in her hands.

“What do you mean by that?” Katie asked just as Orlando entered the house out of breath.

“Because I saw Orlando running up the yard… oh hello dear, is everything alright?” Sara asked as she walked over to Orlando and they kissed softly.

“Yes everything is alright.”

“Then why are you home this early? You and Gerry don’t close down until later on. It’s only ten o clock. Wait a minute, where is Gerry?”

“Well hello to you too Katie.” Orlando piped in and she chuckled.

“Hi Orlando, now where is my husband?”

“He’s gone with Sam Adams and he should be home soon. They left to protest the Tea tax.” Orlando replied.

“What?! What are they going to do?” Katie asked not sure if she should be getting worried.

“They were heading to Boston Harbor.” Orlando replied.

Katie’s eyes went wide as she threw down the washcloth she was using, “What?! The British are all around Boston. If they are caught…”

“Katie, Gerry will be alright.” Sara commented as Katie shook her head and grabbed her cloak.

“If he is, then I am going to kill him! Can you please watch the boys for me? They’re all sleeping right now.” Katie asked curiously as she placed her cloak on. Both Orlando and Sara nodded as Katie placed on her shoes and ran outside into Boston.

“She’s crazy,” Orlando said as he took off his coat as Sara smiled and shook her head, “No she’s in love.”

Orlando shook his head as he and Sara cleaned up the dining room table and then went into the living room to wait for Gerry and Katie.

**************

Katie ran through the streets of Boston and stopped when she recognized two of the men that worked for her grandfather’s newspaper in Philadelphia.

“James! Moses!” she called out quickly and they turned around to see Katie running to them.

“Mrs. Butler! What are you doing out here?” Moses asked as she reached them.

“Moses you can still call me Katie you know. And there’s something going on at Boston Harbor and Gerry’s there. I am going to see if he’s alright. Come with me, I have a feeling that this will be a big story for you.” Katie replied as she, Moses and James started running towards Boston Harbor and stopped when they saw a group of men climb onto the Dartmouth and throw the boxes and barrels of tea into Boston Harbor.

“If we get separated, then you two can come back to our house to stay for as long as you need to. The Redcoats have Boston under curfew. No one’s allowed out after dark.” Katie offered.

“Thank you for your kindness, Mrs. Butler. But we already have housing while we are here.” Moses replied as she smiled and nodded, “We need to go on the ship for this story, stay here and if Redcoats arrive, then hurry back to your house and wait for Gerry.”

“Don’t you know Katie at all Moses? She’ll find Gerry first,” James replied with a laugh. Both men hugged Katie quickly as they made their own ways onto the ship. She went to get up, but her face went pale as she saw at least ten British soldiers run towards the Dartmouth.

When they had left her sight, she ran as quickly as she could over to the Harbor when she saw several men disguised as Mohawk Indians avoid the soldiers and run off the ship. She immediately recognized Gerry as she reached out and grabbed his hand as he ran past her. She pulled with all her might and he flew back into her. She grunted as they fell down leaving them out of sight from anyone else.

“What in the….Katie?” Gerry asked as she nodded underneath him. He quickly jumped up and pulled her close to him.

“What are ye doing here love?” he asked her softly as he cradled her in his arms.

“I believe the question is what are you doing here Gerard Butler?! You could have been captured…or worse…” she trailed off as Gerry pulled her close to him and shushed her as footsteps were heard. Katie quickly wiped off the marks on Gerry’s face as he threw off his headband and placed it in his jacket pocket.

She snuck her head up when it became silent and saw that no one was around. She slowly stood up and Gerry stood up next to her. They quickly left the area and walked very quietly and quickly back to their house. They entered the house where Orlando was waiting for them in their living room.

“Gerry? Katie?” Orlando asked curiously as Sara came down the stairs quickly from the bedrooms.

“We’re here mate,” Gerry replied as they took off their shoes and Gerry helped Katie out of her cloak. He placed his jacket and her cloak onto the rack on the wall and they walked in the living room.

“Well what happened?” Orlando asked as Gerry and Katie sat down on the couch sighing in relief.

“We are calling it the Boston Tea Party. We went onto the Dartmouth and threw all the tea overboard into Boston Harbor. But the Redcoats sadly interrupted our party,” Gerry replied with a small laugh.

“Wow,” Sara said in shock.

“Katie found me and we hid for a few minutes until the area was clear to leave. But this is the start of something big. This isn’t the end of everything,” Gerry said.

“Do you think we could go to war?” Katie asked her husband who placed his arm around her shoulder.

“I don’t know love, I don’t know.”

“I hope not, well if you two don’t mind, we are heading to bed. Are all the families coming over tomorrow?” Sara asked curiously.

“Yes, it’s the weekly dinner and it’s our turn to be the host.” Katie replied as her and Gerry stood up as well.

“Alright, have a good evening you two. No more adventures tonight.” Orlando said as they hugged and they went to their separate bedrooms. Katie turned off the lights and left a candle burning as her and Gerry held hands as they went up the stairs. They stopped by their children’s rooms. Joshua and Collin, the three year old twin boys were sleeping in their beds as well as their eight month old infant Benjamin, who was sleeping in his crib in the nursery.

Katie yawned as she placed her nightgown over her head and glanced in the mirror as Gerry walked out of their bathroom with his nightshirt on.

He stopped and smiled as he glanced at his wife who was taking off her bonnet and taking down the pins in her long brown hair. He walked over to her and took the brush from her hands and started to brush her hair slowly.

She smiled as she let her husband brush her hair and when he was done, he leaned down and softly kissed her neck.

“Now what are you up to Mr. Butler?” she asked as she turned around to face him. He smirked as he leaned his head down to touch her forehead with his.

“About six foot two,” he replied as she laughed softly.

“Are you going to continue to do this?”

He stared at her, “Continue to do what?”

“Fight against the British. Gerry please don’t, it’s too dangerous.” She begged him and he hugged her close to him.

“I won’t love,” he replied as he kissed her softly on the lips. She smiled and kissed him back. Even after five years, he always made her feel like they were young again. She pulled away suddenly and Gerry smirked when it was because she had to yawn.

“Let’s go to bed love,” he advised and she nodded in agreement as they walked to their sides of the bed. They both slid into their bed as Gerry reached over to turn the light on, but left a candle burning on the nightstand next to Katie’s side of the bed next to her glasses. He placed his arms around her waist as he leaned his head once again against hers.

“I love you Gerry,” she said softly to him as he smiled, leaned over and kissed her softly.

“And I love ye too Katie,” he replied softly as they both fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Me too, and it's already quite something for an European!

Katie, i salute you. You see, i absolutely know nothing of this historical period because we were busy studying other things over here. I don't know how much you researched and how much you remember from school, but both ways, congrats to your memory and your effort. I must say that to me, this is a great opportunity to learn something new, and do it in a way that isn't just study a textbook. It's like I'm discovering a new piece of history and feeling involved in it at the same time, like watching an old photograph where your great-granddad is sitting beside someone very, very famous.

besides, i never set foot in the US (not yet..) but I've always been fascinated by Boston, and many characters of mine come from there. I don't know why, there's something about it, and it's the main reason why i joined this particular cast call.

Last, but not least, it's great to see the personal stories of characters blend in with history, because we know they are about to step inside a pivotal historical moments, but they don't. History often catches us off-guard and we see the outcome of some particular days only after years of perspective, and i think we all can relate, seeing what happened in September seven years ago.

So far, so good, Ma'am! (yeah, don't mind me, Prison Break just started again and I had to quote it!)

Awww Gerry is so adorable... heart.gif and so orlando hahaha...

After my fan squee I'll have to admit that I love the way the history blends with the story, as Mena said, there's something that makes it easier to understand it, it doesn't look like it was forced to fit. And I liked it.

Please, keep going..!!

Awwww Kat thank you hun smileys-hug.gif So far so good, I had a barbeque last Saturday (the 13th) and that was a blast. So tonight my mom is making me my favorite dinner and cake with me, my sis and my uncle. My friend sent me tons of Gerry Butler stuff so I'm pretty excited. naughty.gif

And you really thought of my story during history class? That means so much to me and you know there's a new vampire TV show called "True Blood," I watched some episodes and all I thought of was where's a doctor like Gerry? lol. If there was one, I must have missed it lol. So I am seriously thinking about reading the Twilight series thanks to OSH, when's the next update? wink.gif

By the way, the Samuel Adams beer thing didn't faze me until I read the reviews and then I got a great laugh out of that. I may have red hair, but I'm still a bit blonde lol.

And Anna----
QUOTE
Katie, i salute you. You see, i absolutely know nothing of this historical period because we were busy studying other things over here. I don't know how much you researched and how much you remember from school, but both ways, congrats to your memory and your effort. I must say that to me, this is a great opportunity to learn something new, and do it in a way that isn't just study a textbook. It's like I'm discovering a new piece of history and feeling involved in it at the same time, like watching an old photograph where your great-granddad is sitting beside someone very, very famous.

QUOTE
Last, but not least, it's great to see the personal stories of characters blend in with history, because we know they are about to step inside a pivotal historical moments, but they don't. History often catches us off-guard and we see the outcome of some particular days only after years of perspective, and i think we all can relate, seeing what happened in September seven years ago
.

That means so much to me thank you Anna smileys-hug.gif I absolutely love all kinds of history, but the American Revolution has a special place in my heart because one of my family members on my mom's side fought and survived in the Continental Army under George Washington himself! And another relative on my mom's side, was tried, convicted and hung as a witch in 1693 during the Salem Witch Trials in Salem, Massachusetts. But anyways I got became so fascinated by it that I started a story with LOTR actors with the same plot line, history blending in with personal issues that I found it while cleaning out my room and decided to do it again.

I couldn't agree with you more on your last paragraph, quoting Andre Marek, you make your own history. Thank you so much for your kind and honest words.

Andie----thanks too hun smileys-hug.gif It means so much that you're still reading along.

This story should be updated sometime this week, this chapter is a bit hard. It's basically dialogue and for some reason, I am having some trouble. I keep starting it and then deleting it. I'm just a perfectionist especially when it comes to keeping history accurate enough.

Thanks again for the lovely reviews and birthday wishes, I'm 23 today and I feel older lol.

First of all, I'm glad your birthday is going well! A girl can never get too spoiled, right?

Secon... babe, really mean it: you MUST read the Twilight books, they are some of the most amazing books I ever read in my life, I highly recommend them.

As for True Blood, aha, vampires plus Louisiana? Of course I was bound to check it, thanks to Am's hunch, of course. The books are good too, btw.

So, when's the next update? This girl wants to be educated, please! And... quote Andre Marek, indeed! Quoting movies always makes me happpy, quoting Gerry is even better. wink1.gif

Thanks to everyone who reviewed and wished me a happy birthday!!!! I had a great time.

Here is the next chapter, no time for review replies, the presidential debate is on in 5 minutes!!! And check out the Gerry Butler video clip, its him singing the song that is in this chapter.

A/N: Okay I know there weren’t a lot of romantic songs back in the 1700’s, but I’m placing one in here. It’s called, “First Time I Ever Saw Your Face,” sung by Roberta Flack and it’s not mine. But if you watch/listen to the video, you’ll see/hear its Gerry singing this. And yes Gerry Butler sings it for real. I just got inspired by it and I wanted a sweet moment for the Butler’s before everything in the War starts. So here’s the video of Gerry singing it courtesy of YouTube. Enjoy because I have been enjoying this all day! Happy Reading! I hope I do you all justice.

Gerry Singing

And look out for the first cameo by someone else.

Chapter 2

The Next Day

It was a quiet, beautiful, snowy day in Boston. Almost every member of the Butler family was outside playing in the snow that had fallen in the last couple days. Gerry smiled as he watched his two oldest sons Joshua and Collin chase each other with snowballs. He then smiled at his infant son Benjamin who smiled right back at his daddy.

Gerry loved being a family man. He never thought that he would ever get married mainly because he was a big flirt with the women of Boston and Philadelphia. But everything had changed when he stepped foot into Benjamin Franklin’s print shop in Philadelphia looking for an apprentice job. When he had set eyes on Benjamin’s granddaughter, things changed. Now he couldn’t imagine living without her or their kids.

He then glanced in the kitchen window and saw Katie standing in a corner getting ready for the dinner that they were hosting. It was tradition for their group of friends to have a weekly dinner at someone’s house where they can all talk about what was going on in public and in private.

He had met most of the men throughout the tavern. His father and mother had bought the tavern located in the middle of Boston right before the Seven Years War when his father was made a general for the English side. Everyone respected and knew the Butler family. Gerry rarely had enemies, except for people who started trouble.

He then shook his head of his thoughts, held onto Ben with one hand and then tapped on the kitchen window. He saw his wife turn around looking for the source of the tapping. Katie’s head stopped at the window when she saw her husband staring at her with a smile. She smiled and waved at him. He laughed and waved back as he saw her wipe her hands on her apron as she walked over the window that was above the sink and got in front of it.

‘Boys okay?’ she mouthed and Gerry nodded moving out of the way so she could see them playing and running around in the snow. She laughed when Josh tripped over his two feet and fell on his side into the snow. Gerry turned around when she pointed to him.

“Ye alright there Josh?” Gerry called out to his son and Josh bounced up and ran up to his daddy with Collin behind him.

“I fine Daddy. I fall.” Josh replied as Gerry chuckled deeply.

“I know ye fell….I’m just making sure ye’re alright.” He replied.

“Can I play now?” Josh asked impatiently as Collin was now bouncing up and down in the snow.

Gerry smiled and nodded as both boys ran back into the snow as he turned around to face his wife who was smiling at him.

‘I love you’ she mouthed to him and he smiled.

‘And I ye’ he replied and she then smirked.

‘I want you’ she said and he smirked back.

‘Do ye now?” he asked and then suddenly her eyes went wide.

“Get inside Gerry! Now!” she screamed and then pointed back towards the boys. Gerry turned around quickly and saw a group of British soldiers marching on their street.

“Boys! Come here now!” He exclaimed as he ran holding Ben tightly against his chest as he grabbed both Collin and Josh’s hands and they rushed towards the door of their house.

“Daddy! We were playing!” Collin protested as the front door opened and Katie pulled her two young sons inside. Gerry rushed inside with Ben and closed the door tightly bolting it shut.

“Boys you can play in here,” Katie said as she helped Josh and Collin out of their winter jackets, scarves, gloves and boots.

“But we want outside!” Josh protested as Gerry stood tall above them.

“Boys ye can play in here or take a nap.” He replied sternly as the boys became silent.

“No tired,” Collin protested as he and Josh both yawned at the same time.

Gerry and Katie glanced at one another and smirked as Gerry handed a sleeping Ben to her as he took off his jacket.

“You’re not tired eh? A little nap won’t hurt you.” She replied as she grabbed onto Josh’s small hand and led him upstairs as Gerry picked up Collin and the young boy rested his head on his father’s strong shoulder. Gerry smiled and they all went upstairs to the twins’ room.

Collin had fallen asleep in his daddy’s arms and Gerry slowly placed him in his small bed. Katie helped a tired Josh into his bed and ran her fingers through Josh’s thick brown hair that he had inhabited from her. Josh soon closed his eyes and Gerry had returned from the nursery.

He kissed her head softly as they both smiled at their peaceful looking children that were all asleep. But once the company arrived, they would be awake and energetic again.

They left the twins’ room and headed back down the stairs leaving their doors open. The couple headed back into the kitchen. Gerry headed for the window while Katie began chopping up the vegetables for the dinner.

She then noticed him standing by the window staring outside. She stopped, wiped her hands on her apron again and placed her arms around his waist. Her head was rested against his back and he turned around and smiled.

“Penny for your thoughts?” she asked and he grinned.

“I’m just worried about the soldiers. They know who I am. What if they want me to fight against the Americans?”

“Gerry, that’s your own decision. But you are an American. What you did yesterday was most certainly patriotic. Follow your heart and not your head on this one.”

“I know love,” he replied with a big sigh as he held onto her tightly, “I just do not want to fight. I know I need to be careful. They are constantly checking the taverns. Orlando’s already posing to be British to them.”

Her eyes went wide suddenly, “Orlando’s posing as a Loyalist? Gerry that is really dangerous. But Orlando’s against the English taxes, am I not correct on that?”

“He hates it as much as we all do, but England is where he is from. I’m worried about him more than I am myself. Hopefully they will just leave me alone since I am Scottish.”

“I highly doubt that dear. Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom. But let’s take this one day at a time. They won’t be here forever. America will be free one day.” She replied.

He smiled down at her, “Ye sound just like Ben does. I do miss Ben, have ye heard from him lately?”

She smiled, thinking of her grandfather, Benjamin Franklin. “Not since he arrived in England many months ago. He is to attend a meeting about recalling Governor Hutchinson, but he fears that they will turn on him instead.”

“In today’s society, I would not be surprised if they did. But Ben is a brave man. And wise at that, so don’t ye worry about him alright?” he asked her and she smiled up at him and nodded.

“I won’t…now I need to finish preparing dinner. Everyone’s due to arrive in two hours or so,” she replied as she was released from his strong embrace and walked back where the food was located and began chopping the vegetables again when she felt two arms wrap around her stomach.

“So everyone will be here in a couple hours ye say? He asked softly into her ear and she shivered as she made a face and continued to chop the lettuce.

“Yes dear, two hours.” She replied as she felt the knife in her hands being placed back onto the kitchen counter as her husband’s lips softly began to kiss on her neck. She turned around and placed her hands on her hips.

Gerry only grinned at her evilly before bending down and placing his hands under her knees and lifting her up in the air. She yelped as she quickly placed her arms around his neck as he started to walk out of the kitchen and into the sitting area.

“Gerry what in the world are you doing? I need to get dinner started.” She exclaimed as he walked up the stairs with her as they entered their bedroom and he set her down on the bed and he climbed on top of her and kissed her deeply on the lips. She kissed him back immediately as he pulled away with an evil grin on his face. He stood up fully and began to undress himself.

Katie’s eyes went wide as she jumped up from the bed and in front of him, “Gerry what are you doing?”

“We are going to take a bath before everyone gets here.” He responded as he grabbed her hand and led her into their small bathroom where a bath was waiting for them.

She smiled up at him sweetly, “We haven’t had a bath together in years Gerry.”

He grinned as he began to take off her apron and her dress, “I know love, the
kids are sleeping and won’t wake up until everyone gets here. There’s no rush tonight.” He whispered into her ear and soon they both climbed into the warm waters and she rested her head against his chest. He started humming a song and she smiled as she recognized the song that he had composed for her as his wedding gift to her.

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time my love
It would last till the end of time my love

The first time ever I saw your face, your face,
your face, your face

She smiled as they kissed one another softly and he placed her head against his chest as they enjoyed their moment of peace and quiet for once. They did not have a lot of those moments so they took plenty advantage of it not even realizing that it would be a short time before everyone would start arriving. Orlando and Sara had volunteered to work at the tavern leaving Gerry grateful as they continued to savor their moment.

******

Katie sighed with content as her and Gerry continued to spend some alone time with one another not realizing that it would be their last for a very long time.

Suddenly loud pounding filled the air and Gerry and Katie glanced at one another. They quickly stood up and dried themselves off very quickly and Katie wrapped a towel around herself as she ran into the bedroom and the clock read 6:00pm.

“Hurry love!” Gerry exclaimed he helped her put on her undergarments and her dress as she threw him his undergarments, trousers and dress shirt. He dressed quickly as she ran her brush and sighed at her hair that was now curly and still a bit wet. He stood up tall and examined himself in the mirror as they heard footsteps in the hallway.

Josh and Collin walked out of their room as they saw their parents rushing out of their bedroom with Katie wrapping her apron around her waist and Gerry rushing into the nursery to grab Ben who was now awake.

“Mom who that?” Josh asked curiously as she smiled and led the boys downstairs.

“It’s everyone coming over for dinner, you know this boys.” She replied as she walked over to the door.

“Will!” Josh exclaimed in excitement as he followed his mother to the door.

“And Erik!” Collin said with a smile as Gerry walked downstairs with Ben just as Katie was opening the door revealing the first family to arrive, their next-door neighbors, Anne Cathy and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers with their three children, Edward, Henry and Alice.

“Hi Anne Cathy! Hi Jonathan! Hi you three kiddos, have you been good?” Katie asked the children who all nodded while the parents rolled their eyes.

Anne Cathy smiled as the two women hugged and the two men shook hands.

“How’s the tavern going Gerry?” Jonathan asked Gerry who shook his head.

“Going good so far, that is until the British decide to invade me.” He replied as the two men headed for the sitting area.

“Not funny Gerry, how are you dear?” Katie asked Anne Cathy who smiled.

“Good, but there’s something I need to tell you when everyone gets here.”

Katie frowned as she closed the door behind her until she felt a hand block it from closing it all the way.

“Is everything alright Anne? Is anything wrong?” she asked curiously as Anne Cathy shook her head no as the rest of the families began to arrive and soon dinner was served.

***

After dinner was done and the dishes were clean, the husbands and wives kissed one another and went into separate rooms of the house. The women to the family room where all the kids were playing and the men to the sitting area on opposite ends of the house.

Katie sat next to her good friend Emily Pattinson as she glanced around the room. Next to Emily was her sister-in-law Anne Cathy, then it was Ava McAvoy and then Evelyn Bale. All women met through one another and became very fast friends.

“Alright Anne Cathy you have a secret for me and it’s been driving me crazy. What in the world could it be?” Katie asked curiously.

Anne Cathy turned her head backwards to see if any of the men were nearby and then turned towards all the curious women.

“Katie…while in the market this morning, Jonathan and I ran into Ewan.” She replied and everyone gasped including Katie who gasped very loudly and then threw her hands over her mouth.

“WHAT?!?” she almost yelled and then the women shushed her as the men all became silent in the sitting area.

“Katie is that ye?” Gerry’s voice rang out and she kicked herself mentally.

“I’m alright Gerry,” She yelled back as the men’s conversations resumed. She then turned her attention back towards Anne Cathy.

“What the hell is Ewan doing here?” Katie hissed.

“Wait, wait who is Ewan? Is anyone else confused?” Evelyn asked Ava who shrugged.

“Don’t look at me Evie, I don’t know who Ewan is.” Ava replied.

“Ewan McGregor was the man I was going to marry until he left me for another woman back in Philadelphia. Now what in the hell is he doing here?”

“What?!? Gerry’s not the first man you fell in love with?” Ava asked shocked.

“No Gerry is the first man I fell in love with. When I was younger, Ewan’s family lived next door to me and our parents had arranged for us to get married when we were eighteen. Now as you know, my parents and brother died when I was thirteen. I went back to Ewan when I was eighteen and we courted until he found another woman. He told me that I was ugly compared to her and that he couldn’t marry me and then he left. I never saw him again and two months after that happened, I met Gerry.” Katie explained.

“So does Gerry know about Ewan?” Emily asked and Katie nodded.

“Yes he does, but is he here in Boston permanently now?” Katie asked Anne Cathy who slowly nodded.

“From what he told me and Jonathan, he is a widower, no kids and studied to be a doctor in Philadelphia and he is now here.”

“Did he ask about Katie?” Evelyn asked and Anne Cathy nodded again.

“Yes, I told him that you were happily married and wanted nothing to do with him.” She replied.

“Good, I never want to see him again. Ungrateful bastard.” Katie cursed and then all the women began laughing.

“Are you going to tell Gerry?” Anne Cathy asked and Katie shrugged.

“I should, but I don’t really know. Anyways did you all hear about this Tea Party we had last night?” Katie asked as the subject changed and the women began to chatter once again.

Meanwhile

All the men were talking quietly when they heard the women roar with laughter in the family room.

“It makes me wonder what they are talking about,” James McAvoy pointed out as Robert Pattinson snorted next to him.

“It makes me not want to know, God only knows what they talk about. Fashion, shoes, kids, gossip. You know things like that.” Robert pointed out.

“And us, they probably complain about us as well just like we complain about them complaining constantly.” Christian Bale pointed out as all five men chuckled.

“Katie always tells me that if we just do what they tell us to do, then the world would be a much happier place.” Gerry piped in rolling his eyes.

“Well if they would let us work and do what we need to do without them bothering us, then we could get our work done.” Jonathan said and all five men raised their bottles of beer in agreement.

“So what do you all make of this Boston Tea Party?” James asked and everyone began talking.

“I heard that you were actually there Gerry, what happened?” Jonathan asked and Gerry smirked.

“To make a long story short, Sam Adams was in my tavern last night. He made a speech, then about twenty men including myself went onto the Dartmouth and dumped all the boxes and barrels of tea into the Harbor.”

“And disguised as Indians!” Christian added with a laugh.

“I am sorry, but a Scottish Indian makes me laugh.” Robert commented as Gerry laughed.

“It was something I never thought I would do, but what they are doing is unfair. Katie found me though. I wish she would stayed out of it. I’m a man and I can take care of myself.” He replied.

“At least you were not caught Gerry.” Jonathan pointed out and all men chorused in unison.

“And Katie was concerned mate. Everyone knows how stubborn she is. Be grateful Gerry, she loves you and did not want you to get caught.”

“Oh I know…I must have sounded like a real jerk. Sorry everyone.” Gerry quickly apologized and prayed that Katie did not hear that.

“Speaking of real big jerks, Anne Cathy and I ran into a Ewan McGregor in the marketplace today…he says he knows Katie. Gerry who is this man?” Jonathan asked curiously.

Gerry’s eyes went wide and then narrowed, “Ewan was the man that Katie was supposed to be married to. But he found someone else, insulted Katie and then left her the day before they were going to be married. But that was good for me because I met her shortly after that.” He replied.

“Oh I see. Well Anne Cathy told him that she was married and wanted nothing to do with him. I guess he is now working as a doctor here.” Jonathan replied as everyone turned towards James.

“I was going to be receiving an apprentice next week and his name was Ewan. Gerry I am so sorry.” James said quickly as Gerry shook his head.

“It’s alright. There’s nothing you can do about it James. Just make sure that we see you and not him. I want to punch his face in so bad for hurting Katie the way he did.”

“We’ll do Gerry. That’s good I was informed of this so I can keep my eye on him.” James replied.

They all turned their heads as the women were heard giggling like little school-girls and they all shook their heads again.

“So because of this tea protest, do you think we will head towards war?” Robert asked curiously.

“I pray that it does not start a war.” Christian replied and every man agreed as their conversation continued for the remainder of the evening.

Awwww thanks Kat smileys-hug.gif smileys-hug.gif for reviewing and wanting an update. I have the new chapter almost finished and I'll send it to Sam (my beta) when I get a chance. I'm starting a new job in a week or so, so I'm trying to get as many chapters as I can. Plus I'm going back to school in January (new school, new major) so hopefully it'll work out this time, I'll make it work.

And yes I had to have Ewan in there causing drama. I hate making him a bad guy, but he's so good at it. I'm also glad that you like all the women chatting, all our conversations will be humorous like that and I loved writing the bath scene with me and Gerry lol.gif

I can't wait to see your new update too *hint* *hint* tongue.gif

Thanks again for always being such a great friend and reviewing. I love you too! smile.gif

A/N: Thanks goes to Kat who encouraged me to get back on the saddle for this one. I’ve been writing like crazy for my Erik stories on fanfiction.net, but I must confess, I have neglected this one and I do apologize. This is dedicated to you hun! Thanks for everything!

I am skipping to events so keep your eye on the dates at the beginning of the chapter. Right now I’m skipping to June of 1774. I also don’t know Gerry’s real dad’s name so I am making one up. The information about the Second Quartering Act of 1774 that I used is from the wonderful people at Wikipedia. Here’s the link.

The Intolerable Acts

Happy Halloween and Happy Reading!!

Chapter 3

June 1774

Katie watched carefully holding Ben in her arms as she saw five British soldiers put up large posters declaring that because of the Tax protest, Parliament declared that Boston Harbor was now closed.

Her eyes went wide and then she quickly sprinted towards her husband who was working at the tavern this afternoon. Ben began whimpering in her arms protesting himself and she slowed down before almost colliding with a British soldier.

“Watch where you are going!” he snapped at her and she raised an eyebrow.

“Well excuse me.” She retorted back as she went around him and started to walk away, but she felt a strong grip on her arm and she was pulled back.

“What was that?” he growled at her pulling her close to him and she pushed him back.

“I believed that you have ears and are capable of hearing. Now I must be going back to my home.”

“Not so fast,” he stopped her, “I would know that wit from anywhere. You are Benjamin Franklin’s granddaughter are you now? Tell me how is Dr. Franklin doing?”

“Yes I am and I would not know, I have not heard from him in a few weeks.”

“So he is so busy that he can not even write his own granddaughter a letter? Pity.” He said and then examined her closely and she held Ben closer to her.

“Well he is busy and I will see him soon. Now if you excuse me, I really must go.”

“Wait just a minute…you are also Gerard Butler’s wife aren’t you? Thomas Butler’s son? Am I correct?”

“Yes I am his wife, why would you like to know?”

“Because it is your husband’s duty to take up arms and fight against these rebels. His father did just that and it is his responsibility. So go and tell your husband that his father would expect that of him. Now please do watch where you are going.” The soldier replied giving her one last nasty look before heading towards the harbor to join the other soldiers.

Katie cursed to herself as she saw Butler’s Tavern at the end of the street. She then glanced around and began to run towards the tavern praying that no one would stop her. She was determined to find Gerry. She threw open the door and saw the tavern empty except for a few patrons sitting there talking softly to themselves.

She smiled and closed the door while Gerry walked into the front of the tavern and turned his back to her not paying attention.

“I’ll be right with ye lad.” Gerry said and she tried not to laugh, but was unsuccessful.

“I’m not a lad so can you help me now?” she retorted while chuckling as Gerry turned around startled at the female voice.

“Katie? What are ye doing here?” He asked her completely shocked to see her standing there in his tavern. The last time she had been there was for their wedding reception.

“I need to speak with you…in private.” She said to him softly as she reached the counter. He nodded and then took her hand as he led her back into the backroom and closed the door behind him.

“Is everything alright love?”

“Not really Gerry. Parliament closed Boston Harbor.” She replied and he sighed in frustration.

“There were rumors going around about that happening. I was hoping that it was just that, rumors.”

“Are you going to be alright? Businesswise?” She asked and he nodded as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder while pulling her close to his chest.

“Yes I think so. Remember how I told ye that the British are checking the taverns? Also remember that Orlando’s posing as a Loyalist? Well last night, a group of soldiers came in here after I had left and Orlando struck a deal with them. If he remained loyal to King George, then they would continue to send supplies here. But Orlando informed me that they were inquiring about me.” He replied.

Katie couldn’t help, but shake her head. Orlando was incredibly clever, she thought to herself.

“As much as that should make me feel better, it does make me worry about Orlando’s safety. What if the Patriots find out?”

“Sam Adams already knows that Orlando is a true Patriot at heart and he has told the Sons of Liberty not to question or harm Orlando.” Gerry replied as he smiled at his infant son and picked him up.

“Well that is a big relief, but I do need to tell you something. On my way here, I was stopped by a British soldier; they insulted Ben and then asked me about your loyalties.”

Gerry’s eyes went wide and he groaned, “They recognized ye too? Jesus, what a disaster, I am so sorry Katie. I really am.” He replied with a sigh.

“Never apologize for being you Gerry; however, they are expecting you to join the British army. Just like your father. I also heard of a new act declared by Parliament. It’s called the Quartering Act of 1774,” she said and Gerry groaned loudly.

“Not again…do ye remember what that was about?” he asked and she nodded slowly.

“I believe I remember it. According to James, it is suppose to take effect very soon. Do you think that they will come into our home?”

“The law says that they can go into any home and we have to provide for them, so I would not be surprised to see soldiers at our home. I just worry so much about ye that scares me to know that soldiers would recognize ye from being my wife.”

“Well the soldier recognized my grandfather’s wit,” She replied.

He then stopped and stared down at her, “What do ye mean by Ben’s wit? Ye didn’t say anything sarcastic did ye?” He asked and then sighed when she didn’t give him an answer.

“Katie love, I can not warn ye enough, ye can not be smart with the British. They could take ye away…I won’t let that happen. Now please be careful going home alright?” He asked while kissing her softly on the lips. She kissed him back and then they reluctantly pulled away as he opened the back door and led Katie outside where he watched her walk the street back towards their house. He closed the door with a sigh and went back to work.

Later that evening

Gerry glanced up when the door of the tavern opened and there stood Orlando with a grim look on his face. He raised an eyebrow as he fixed another beer for a patron and handed it to the man.

“That’s the last one for ye Daniel. That’s yer sixth one! Now what’s wrong mate?” Gerry asked Orlando as Orlando came across the counter to join his friend.

Orlando sighed as he tied an apron around his waist, “There are about six soldiers occupying the house right now Gerry. They just came this afternoon after Katie arrived from seeing you.”

Gerry cursed out loud as he slammed a fist on the countertop, “Damnit. Is Katie alright?”

Orlando nodded, “She’s been rushing in and out of the kitchen along with Sara making sure that everything is alright.”

“Have they been kind?” Gerry asked taking off his apron and Orlando slowly shook his head.

“I’m afraid not at first, but when I protested, they were silent immediately. However, I am afraid since we are not in the house at the moment. They moved into the house and there are more in the barn. They also took all the rooms except for yours and Katie’s. So I am afraid that the boys, myself and Sara will be all crowded in your bedroom.”

“No I do not mind that at all. That makes me so angry that they have been ungrateful and treat women just like slaves. I need to head home to help Katie. Is Sara coming tonight?”

“No, I wouldn’t let her just in case the soldiers needed something. Have a good time tonight and give everyone our regards.” Orlando said as Gerry smiled at his friend and then rushed out of the tavern.

He ran towards the house and opened the door to see Katie hanging up the red jackets from their uniforms on the closet door.

“Hurry up with our supper lazy woman!” one British soldier yelled from upstairs and Gerry growled in response. He made his way to the stairs when he felt a tug on the arm. He turned to see Katie standing there with a tired smile on her face.

He hugged her close to him and she wrapped her arms around him as they hugged tightly.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you earlier. I got home and then they showed up at the door. I just need to serve them dinner and then we can leave for Rob and Emily’s house.”

He sighed against her hair and then glanced down at her, “Orlando told me and I got here as soon as I could. Have they been rude all day?”

She shrugged, “At first yes, but Orlando told them to stop and before you ask me, the boys have been with me all afternoon. They have been playing in the kitchen.”

He nodded, “Good, now let’s get dinner served and then we can leave. I do not think that they will notice with food in front of them and wine on the table. The sooner we leave, the sooner we’ll be safe at Rob and Emily’s.” he said and she nodded as they rushed into the kitchen, served the dinner to the soldiers, grabbed the boys and then they quietly slipped out the door and headed towards Rob and Emily Pattinson’s plantation outside of Boston.

***
“British soldiers in your house?” Emily asked her friend shocked.

Katie nodded as Ava, Evelyn and Anne Cathy entered the large kitchen to help Emily and Katie clean the dining room.

“Yes I am afraid so,” Katie replied with a sigh.

“It’s unfair!” Ava exclaimed as everyone agreed around her.

“How many do you have? Christian and I have eight.” Evelyn asked curiously.

“Around six,” Anne Cathy sighed.

“Six in the house, three in the barn so nine total.” Katie replied as everyone sighed.

“If you all would like to stay here until they leave, you are all welcome to stay. We have the room.” Emily offered as all the women smiled at the generous offer and Katie reached over and hugged her good friend. Emily smiled and hugged her back.

Everyone was silent until Emily felt Katie begin to shake in her arms.

“Katie are you alright?” Emily asked her and Katie struggled to fight the tears that were coming down her face.

“Yes…no I am not alright. These soldiers who are suppose to representing royalty are treating us with ill will. It’s wrong and unjust.” She replied wiping away the tears not realizing that she was being heard by some of the men outside the kitchen.

“Gerry you might want to come over here.” Robert motioned for Gerry to come to the kitchen door. Gerry raised an eyebrow as he left James’ side and walked over to Rob’s side.

Rob motioned to the door and then they all heard Katie talking about the soldiers in their house.

“Em, it’s only the first day there and I wish they would just leave us alone! They have wasted no time in yelling at me and treating like a slave. Sara and I have to wash their clothes, feed them, cook for them, clean for them, provide beds for them and it’s not fair at all!”

“They yell at you?” Emily asked.

“All the time Em, it’s terrible. When Gerry or Orlando are around, it’s not bad, but when it’s just the women, it’s worse than before.”

“If you mentioned that Gerry’s father was in the English army before, maybe that will get them to stop.”

“No that will only make it worse for Gerry. I won’t put him through that, the soldiers are already wondering where his loyalties are. We all know that he’s a Patriot, but the British want him to join them. I worry about him all the time now.”

“I understand, so you all need to stay here to be safe.”

Katie smiled through her tears, “You are an amazing friend, but if we don’t return, they will look for us and put all our friends in greater danger especially Orlando and Sara.”

“We will be alright Katie, don’t worry about us. We would protect you and Gerry, just like you would do for us.”

Katie smiled and hugged her friends tightly in a group hug, “I do not know what I would do without you all.”

“Lose your mind?” Anne Cathy offered a reply and the women laughed.

“Yes exactly, but you can not tell Gerry what I am really crying about. I know it’s childish, but the soldiers said something to me today about my weight and it really hurt my feelings. How childish is that?” Katie asked trying to laugh through the fresh tears that were still coming down her face.

Gerry had heard enough, he pushed open the door and saw the women all gasp including Katie who was trying to dry her tears quickly. He rushed over to her and hugged her close to him.

“Don’t ye dare listen to those jackass soldiers Katie, ye are beautiful and perfect the way ye are. It does not matter what they think and ye better tell me the next time that happens. Please do not hide anything from me.” He said staring into her eyes. She nodded as she hugged Gerry tight to her. He leaned down and kissed her lips softly. She smiled and kissed him back.

“I just did not want you to think any less of me for getting emotional over a comment about my weight. I’m not skinny, I know I am healthy and that’s all that matters. But it does hurt my feelings.”

“I know love and do ye really think I’d get mad or annoyed at ye for that?” He asked her and she shook her head slowly. He smiled and kissed her forehead softly.

“The offer still stands, you all can stay here.” Emily reminded them as Robert opened his mouth and closed it when Emily shot him a glare.

“I was just going to agree love,” Robert told his wife while grabbing her waist and pulled her close to him. He kissed her cheek gently and Emily smiled at him.

“You better agree with me. They would have stayed whether you liked it or not.” She replied with a laugh.

“We would, but with the soldiers in our house and the ones patrolling the taverns, we probably should go home later on.” Gerry replied and Katie slowly nodded.

“Well the offer still stands anytime you wish to stay here.” Emily said and both Gerry and Katie smiled at her in gratitude.

“Thank you.” Katie said hugging her friend close to her. Emily smiled and hugged her back.

“Oh Gerry you are such a great friend,” Robert pretended to cry and hugged a surprised Gerry. Gerry then laughed and hugged his friend back.

“Oh Rob, I love ye so much!"

“Alright mate that was a bit gross,” Robert replied pushing him away.

“Should we leave you two alone then?” Katie asked with an amused smile as everyone began laughing loudly as the rest of the evening progressed with laughs and conversation making everyone forget about the problems back in the town of Boston.

That was a great chapter Katie! I hated the quartering acts, learning about them made me angry. Stupid mean British soldiers.

I thought you wrote about them and how they would've acted very well, it was great! And yay! We got to finally see my house!

KATIE!

bye1.gif

Hi! happy.gif I love this story. Just thought you should know wink.gif I really admire you for taking on a historical piece. And you're executing it so weeeell! thumbsup.gif Kudos, baby.

I like how you've framed it. Kind of selfish on my part, I must say. I would have gone crazy through this whole story, wondering how it ends up, but we know that all our friends live through the end and you have saved me from agonizing anxiety. beat.gif

Also: you've brought a brand of disdain for the Redcoats I never experienced in US History in grade school. I mean, seriously. Those soldiers are such ... such ... aughiuorewjksfakj. Erg. Jackasses. Bastards. No modern-day insult seems to fit their disgusting selves.

Keep up the good work, lovely! smileys-hug.gif

I'm still reading too. I really love where this story is going. I have such a love for historical fiction and you write it very well. I really loved this last interlude with Gerry and Orlando, and I love Robert and Emily. I can't wait for more!
