 “Royalty consists not in vain pomp, but in great virtues”------------ Italian King Or American Innuendo? Date: May 11, 2012 Location: Howell-Jenkins Gym Momentum is something that Gabriel Aligheri needs the most of right now, and thanks to last week, what little momentum he did have was crushed by Levi Flynn last week. He thought he had a fairly good chance of winning and adding more momentum to his train, but, that just wasn't meant to be the case this time around. He was forced to take the Nothing Personal and suffer a defeat right before one of the biggest of the year so far: the King Of The Universe finals match. Brig crowned a king would feel amazing, but if he doesn't get his head in the game and get himself all the way together, that dream will have to stay a dream until the next tournament, if there ever will be another tournament after this. Having to miss out on such an amazing opportunity such as this would just be a downer for him and the rest of the Italian Infusion. With Marcus's and Roberto's sudden demotion, it now rests on the shoulders of Gabriel to try and brig something home for the team to hold their heads up high about. They already missed out on the Tag Titles for the second time and Gabe doesn't want to see any of them fail and fall farther down the ranks anymore than they have to. He has to make sure he beats Shane this week, otherwise the Italian Infusion as a whole will become nothing more than a joke to the whole company. Nothing more than a bunch of Italians who can't win, even if their lives depended on it.
This just adds another thing on Gabriel's plate for the week. Make sure that he doesn't mess up his shoulder any worse than it already is, beat Shane Eric Xanders in the tournament on Wednesday, join Britney Dracul as King and Queen of the Universe, try and balance his relationship with Justinia so that it doesn't spiral out of control, and help Roberto and Marcus get back to the winning ways he knows they can achieve like the had when they first came onto the scene, among a ton of other things. Of course, he can't possibly think to do all of this at one time. Some things would have to take a backseat to some of the other stuff, but, they would all get dealt with eventually. For now, though, he has to focus on him and only himself until he gets back to his locker room after his match. He can wish Marcus and Roberto luck during their time, however, this is his time to shine among everybody else. This is his time to prove to everybody else that just because he may not be the arrogant jerk he used to be, he can still be just as much of the force to be reckoned with when he was acting that way.
Right now, though, Gabe has to make sure he is strong enough to compete in his match and give Xanders a run for his money. If he has to lose, he will go down fighting like a champion. There is no way he will just hand over the crown to somebody else. It may not be the smartest thing to do right now, but lifting weights is the only thing he can think to do now to test whether or not his shoulder will be able to withstand the match. He didn't ask anybody to come with him, so that only adds an element of uncertainty to his situation. He may be hurt, but, he still has pride. If he slips up and has to fix any mistakes, he doesn't want anybody else to see him like that, in his weakened state. He may be considered "docile" right now, but with every press up with the weights, he's just reaffirming to himself that he can do this and do it the right way. No wussying out, no tapping out, and no giving up just because the intensity of the match is more than what he is ready for. Shane and Gabriel may be allies, maybe even friends, but, he refuses to lose this one. Losing to Kaci Devereaux was a loss that shouldn't have happened, yet, he got over it. Losing Money In The Bank was a travesty that definitely shouldn't have happened and he still has resentment towered Christophe Spade. Losing to Levi Flynn wasn't anything to really feel bad about, yet, he still thought he should had that match won. If he were to lose out on this match, he wouldn't be able to get over it as easily as he has the others. He may not necessarily have a relapse, but whatever might happen, it more than likely wouldn't go over well with anybody.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Ugh...*huff huff*....gotta keep...*huff*..going...Laying down on the bench press bench and pushing the weight up as best he can, the look of determination on his face is evident. In his mind, if he doesn't push himself now, he won't be able to push past that threshold when it comes time for him to really do so. It may hurt like hell now, but, the benefits will hopefully be worth it down the line. He does, however, keep an eye on his shoulder. He is definitely going to push himself as much as he can, but if it starts acting up, he'll most definitely stop and break for a little while.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Thirteen...........Fourteen....*huff huff*.....Fifteen....Given the light tone of his complexion, his face has turned a bright-pinkish color. It looks almost as if someone drew on him with a Crayon. The sweat is starting to form on his forehead and his breathing is starting to lose its thumbing pattern. He tries to keep the pattern of "Inhale, Lift, Lower, Exhale", but, that looks as if it's getting some modifications. He tries shifting his legs and his arms to get a better grip on the bar, yet, it only seems to have worked only a portion of what he would liked. Reaching nineteen lifts, he's definitely starting to feel the effects.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Okay......I got this. I can do this. Just....a couple more.....Off to the side of the room, the door opens and the sound of high heels clicking and clacking off the cement flooring is heard. In walks Gabriel's girlfriend, Justinia Stanton, with a small shopping bag in her hand. Usually she would have someone do the shopping and delivering for her, but since this was much more personal than an average occurrence, she feels the need to handle this herself. She looks around and, when she hears the huffing of her boyfriend off to her left, she begins walking in the direction. Gabe doesn't seem to notice or hear her presence and keeps lifting like nothing's happened. Giving him his space, she stays behind a couple of steps.JUSTINIA STANTON: Awww. He's so cute when he's working out. Maybe I shouldn't bother him right now. I can always wish him good luck later....Just as soon as she starts to smile to herself and walk away, Gabe's shoulder starts acting up just like he thought it would. It was starting to burn for a couple seconds, however, he thought that it was just the effects of all the heavy exercise. His arm starts to wobble a little bit and, while he's trying to put the bar back up in its place, it lowers faster than he thought it would. He's struggling enough trying to not crush his neck when Justinia almost runs over to help. She may not be the strongest Stunner in the pack, but, she can definitely lift the bar enough to give Gabe the help he needs. When they finally get everything back in order, Aligheri leans back on the bench.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: What are you doing here?JUSTINIA STANTON: Well, I was only planning on wishing you luck for your match, but, looks like I ended up saving your life, or at the very least, your windpipe..GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Yeah, thanks for that.JUSTINIA STANTON: What are girlfriends for? If I'm not running a company or handling Superstar careers on minute, I'm saving your life the next. Besides, what would the world be without hearing your wonderful voice?GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Psh. An extremely dull place. Who would want to live in a world like that?JUSTINIA STANTON: I know I definitely wouldn't. I'd go insane...Gabe takes the towel by the bench and starts to wipe his face and hair of the sweat he knows probably accumulated. He could feel some drops sliding down his face a couple of times, so he knows he must look a sweat-laden mess right now. Truth be told, Justinia doesn't really mind. At the very least, it shows he's trying to get better at his craft and that's always a positive. He gets down wiping his face when he notices the bag in his girlfriend's hand.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: What's in the bag?JUSTINIA STANTON: Oh, this? Just something I got you to wish you good luck against Shane in your match.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: That's great and all, but, you really didn't have to get me anything.....JUSTINIA STANTON: You don't even know what it is yet! You might like it, if you give it a chance! Now, take it!She thrusts the bag onto his chest and steps back as he begins to take out the tissue paper inside. He digs through the bottom until he feels his finger brush against something metallic feeling. He finds a long strip of it, grabs it, and lifts it out of the bag and into the light.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Woah!!JUSTINIA STANTON: You like it, right! Please tell me you like it....GABRIEL ALIGHERI: I love it! Thank you!JUSTINIA STANTON: Yay!What Gabriel pulled out was a silver necklace with a green, white, and red silhouette of an Italian wolf, the official animal of Italy. He had always thought to have one of these made, but, he never knew of a place that could have them made. To see that his girlfriend actually found one, and the exact one he thought of at that, was simply amazing. He would get up and hug her, but, he is way too sore from just sitting up.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Where'd you ever find this?!?JUSTINIA STANTON: I had it made just for you.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Seriously?JUSTINIA STANTON: Yeah, of course. I know how much you love your homeland, so I figured why not. The worst you could do is not like it, right?GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Pffffft. Like that's ever gonna happen. I love this way too much!!JUSTINIA STANTON: Glad you like it.She bends over and kisses him on the cheek. She knew he would like it. He was too proud of his homeland to not like it. Even still, it was nice to see his mind taken away from everything, even if it's only for a few minutes.JUSTINIA STANTON: You know when everybody has to call you King Aligheri, you have to have the right look, right?GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Shhh. I'm not a King just yet. You might jinx me.JUSTINIA STANTON: You really believe in all that? You're the best man for the job!GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Not really, but, you never know. Even if I was the best man, this isn't some kind of mock election. The people can't just vote and whoever gets the most wins.JUSTINIA STANTON: Even so, I'd vote for you...GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Of course you would. If only you were the Queen...JUSTINIA STANTON: There's no use worrying about what could have been, Gabe. We have to focus on you and making sure you get to go home with the crown. Superstition or not, I'm sure your new necklace will bring you some sort of good luck.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Since you gave it to me, I'm sure it will!JUSTINIA STANTON: Aww...you're so cheesy!She gives him another quick kiss on the cheek before heading off back into the world of the Stanton. The mission was a success and she made her boyfriend's day just a little bit better in the process. Slipping the necklace around his neck, he gets up and admires it in the nearby wall of mirrors.>>>>>>>15 Minutes Later>>>>>>> Sitting on the same bench he just finished his work out, Gabriel is still admiring the necklace he just got from Justinia. Amazing couldn't describe it enough. There were almost no words that would do it justice. It may not seem like a huge deal to anybody else, but to him, it almost took his breath away. Clutching the wolf in his hand, he decides to look up at the camera. With everything that's been going on, it's nice to have a bit of silence and just to talk and get everything odd of his chest.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: So....it's all come down to this, huh? Shane and I going against each other to find out which one of us will be worthy enough of being crowned King, alongside Britney as Queen.The anticipation is enough to have him hyped up all the way until the actual event. He's been waiting so long for this glorious moment. To think that it's just a few days away is enough to make him start going into Hyper Mode and start producing more adrenaline than what's needed.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: The Sun is falling as we speak, the amount of time left is getting shorter and shorter, the fans are preparing to make their final arrangements for the event. The big night is fast approaching. No ifs, no ands, and no buts about it. Every action, every reaction, both walks down the entrance ramp, the bits of frustration after losing, and the celebration after having your hand raised in victory will all be documented and will be documented built for what is to about to come on Wednesday night. On that night, there can only be four words that will be able to describe all of the chaotic moment that are bound to take place. King. Of. The. Universe.He could just tell that the contest was going to be one to be remembered for, at the very least, the rest of the year. It may not necessarily be a 'Match of the Year' candidate, but, he knows it will definitely have adrenaline fueled moments and daredevil tactics.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: When I first heard that our match was moved up from Danger Zone to this week, I'll admit that I was a little nervous. Not pass out or go into a nervous breakdown kind of nervous, just an....apprehensive kind of nervous. Don't get me wrong, I was still excited. Excited to see that I will finally get this tournament over with, but with my shoulder still messed up, I knew instantaneously that it would play the one major factor in our match, if anything, that would probably either make me a King or leave me outside the castle. As much as I hate it, that's just the way it has to be. I thought that I would have had a couple more weeks to try and get everything straight with my body, but, I'm definitely not complaining one way or the other. Kings don't have time to sit around and complain about a shoulder while others are passing them by. Kings don't have the time to worry about theirselves too much when they have a whole entire kingdom rooting for him to do something great. I know it's not exactly the smartest thing I could do by going into this match in my current condition and after having faced Levi Flynn and Mr. Mean Street consecutively, but just like I said two weeks ago, there is no way I'm just going to sit back and let someone else take a spot that could possibly be mine. I'm sure Shane would love to have Money In The Bank and King Of The Universe on a technicality, but, that's just not how it's gonna go down. I CAN'T let it happen that way.When he found out the condition he was in with his ribs and shoulder, one of his first thoughts was that he would probably have to withdraw from the tournament. As much as it pained him to think of it, it crossed his mind. Luckily, nothing seems to have been exaggerated since his diagnosis.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Over the course of this entire tournament, I've been labeled as one of the "dark horses" running in the race. I don't really know why but I have been. All the way back to when I was facing Gage Gannon just to keep my spot and my sanity all the way to now. I could kind of see why people would assume that and they'd be completely wrong to assume that too. Just because I'm not on some major rise like Mr. Mean Street or Shane doesn't automatically cast me to the role of the 'dark horse'. I may not have won the Money In The Bank match at Shockwave or have the best momentum at the moment, but, nobody should be counting me out already. I'm a former Universal Champion and the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of 2010. I know it may not seem like much compared to others who would gladly boast about their accomplishments to anyone that would listen to them, but, it's still something to be proud of. Nobody would want to see a complete loser make their way all the way though the tournament on sheer luck and then somehow manage to win the crown, would they? Would you want to see a complete nobody become a King OR would you rather have someone like me who's proven time and time again that, if given the right opportunity, I can become one of the best Superstars this company has ever signed to a contract. This time will be no different than any other time. I've beaten odds that nobody expected me to all throughout this tournament. Shane, sorry to say, is just another odd to beat. You're nothing more than a roll of the dice and the pull of a slot machine lever to me.A roll of the dice, a pull on the slot machine lever, the card that could put you right below or over 21, those are all odds. Luck has always seemed to show her face to Gabriel when he would need it the most. Hopefully she would show her face again this time.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: But, let me just make this clear now. I know that, compared to around this time last year, things may not look as bright as they could be. I know that I may not be in the best spot right now, but, in no way am I just going to fall back into the shadows. The other guys on the roster may compete in more matches, however, they aren't just going to bury my name in six feet of dirt. We all know that we need to get better and improve over time, so I simply refuse to just give up because things may get "too tough" for me to handle. I may not have ever been in the amount of stressful situations I've been through before I came to the UWF, but, I know that they won't just stop because I ask nicely for them to stop. With the amount of "quality" people that have an UWF contract, I just know that, somewhere down the line, things are going to get out of control and I need to be there to try and keep the peace. It happened last year with Stanton Enterprises trying to take over, and it could very well happen again this year, especially since some people have made their way back here. What's happened in the past is almost irrelevant to the here and now. I need to focus on using the lessons I've learned from my previous matches and use them to finish this thing off on a high note.Keep your cool and take advantage of every situation possible. Those were things he already knew but it was always nice to have some reinforcement.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: When I was facing Gage Gannon at the beginning of all of this, I'm sure there were people that wanted me to win, but, they probably couldn't realistically see me getting past the first round. I saw the websites, I saw the articles, and I heard the podcasts. People everywhere thought I was going to lose control of myself and pay the consequences for it. They acted like I had no self-control whatsoever. If I had let Gage mentally get the better of me, he would have gotten a free pass to face Mean Street in the next round. But, I did what everyone thought I was incapable of doing and came out victorious. I kept my cool and loved the look on his face afterwards when he realized I beat him in front of everybody in the Unbreakable Arena. This week, I need to not get caught up in whether or not I can "push past my limits". I need to make sure I focus completely on going full force. Unlike Gage, Shane is someone I actually don't have many negative feelings toward. We've stayed fairly cordial up to now and this match will just be one to see which one of us betters. Hopefully with egos aside, hopefully with unnecessary arrogance aside, and hopefully with outside interference aside. I already have to suffer from one fucked up shoulder. I don't need to add another to the list.Getting up from the bench, Gabriel just stands and stretches. Since his muscles have had time to cool down, he can do this without any trouble.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: It was kinda the same with Mean Street. I didn't have much negative to say about the guy, other than his money kinda went to his head a little bit and that he took the tag titles away from Marcus and Roberto. He was coming off his high from winning and I was trying to get some momentum behind me. There was no way I was just gonna fall behind and be forgotten about. Christopher Spade may not like it, but with the year he was gone doing whatever it was he did, I'd like to think I was doing a fairly good job of making more of a name than I already had. A much larger name for myself than he ever could or would. I did it by defeating Gage and I solidified it even more by defeating one half of the new Tag Champions. If that doesn't scream jealousy, I don't know what does. This guy only plans on going up with his career in the coming months, and if that means I have to step over Xanders's body to do it, then so be it. If I have to toss him through a table or hit him with a chair to do it, then that's just what will have to happen. He would have no problem doing it to me, so he should expect the same thing, right? No niceties and no conversations with 'do the best you can' in them will make their rounds this time. This I'd going to be a ruthless, no holds barred contest where only one person can get the glory. I plan on it being me, if you couldn't already tell, as well as my opponent probably wants it to be himself. I know what I am willing to go through to win. I've done it plenty of times before when my career was just starting out. I once choked someone out using the top rope and powerbombed Spade through a table with light tubes on it. Why should this match be any different?Thinking about that time last tear in the match for the Universal Title, a lot of painful memories come back to him. He may have to pull some memories from there out to help put away Shane.GABRIEL ALIGHERI:[/b] When you boil everything down, you get the real reason I think we have had this whole tournament for the Superstars and the Stunners. Yes, you get to call yourself royalty until the next tournament and I'm sure there's some extra perks for winning, but, this whole thing has just been about who can best represent the company we all work for. Some say they can do it and they fall flat on their face for trying. Some say they can handle it all but they fall off their pedestal before they even have a chance to stand all the way. Our match will prove the better of the two of us for the match. Gabriel Aligheri or Shane Eric Xanders....which one? Personally, I think we all know I would make the best choice.Showing just the tad bit of arrogance that everyone loges to see now and again, he truly believes he would be the better choice for company representative. He's got the looks, the talent, and pretty much everything else necessary.[/color] GABRIEL ALIGHERI:[/b] I get it. I've gotten all the innuendos one could possibly throw out having to do with sex. I've heard them all and, while some of them have managed to be entertaining for a couple of minutes, they really do get boring and somewhat predictable after a while. It can become to the point where everyone knows what you're going to say and, no matter how you say it or how much inflection you put on it, they get tired of it. Do I have a right to talk? Well, my initials are only G.D.A, so there's not much you can do with that. Maybe that's a good thing too. Unlike S.E.X., there's actually something left up to the imagination and not just thrown in your face every single time you looked up. People already get up in arms over music videos that have "too much" for the younger audiences and celebrities that don't exactly make the best role models for younger kids to look up to, so what's the difference between that and a guy that uses intercourse as a pun every single opportunity he gets? Nothing against the guy for it, but, I'd like to see something different than just S.E.X. and A.S.S. running around all over the place.Even though their initials may be fun to make jokes with, Gabriel gets tired sometimes from all of the jokes he's forced to hear from everyone who thinks they can be a comedian.GABRIEL ALIGHERI:[/b] But, I do understand to a certain extent, though. Everybody wants to be remembered for something when they pass on to the next life. A life wasted is a life that nobody wants to, cares to, or can remember. If someone has to use innuendos to keep himself relevant in the public's and the wrestling community's eyes, then I say go for it. I'm not discrediting his skill at all. In fact, I'd rather fight with him than against him. Nevertheless, you're not looking at someone who's going to be remembered as somebody that got second place in one of the biggest events in UWF 2012. If I have to remembered for anything, it's definitely not going to be for losing against a guy like Shane. Kings don't lose out to lesser people in the kingdom. They don't surrender themselves to the jesters and they certainly don't just bow out of a fight with the entire kingdom on the line. Kings take up the responsibility of fighting for the kingdom and going to war for it and the people inside. This will be nothing less than warfare come Wednesday. I get that I may not have the best armor between the two of us, but, this is a war I will shed blood for before I EVER think of giving up!He would willingly shed his, or Shane's blood, to win the crown and the title of King. He's shed blood for almost everything else. This time would be no different than the last or the next.GABRIEL ALIGHERI:[/b] So, who gets to represent the company to the fullest extent come Thusday morning? The American with the money and innuendos for years or the Italian with the pride and the national heritage of centuries? The Sire of Fanciness or the Captain and the originator the fanciest trio that has ever shown their faces? I would love to just say that I will win and have that be the be all end all, but, it just won't work that way this time. With us both being warriors with more than just pride on the line, I have no doubt that things will get violent and I'm ready for it. I may not have the money that he does, but, he doesn't have the rich heritage that I do. That's something worth a lot more than paper money losing more and more of its value by the day. We both want to win, but, the ever arising question is who wants it more? We can both say we want to win more, but, do we really know how much the other wants to win. Xanders could say he has more will and determination than I do, yet, that may not be, and is not, necessarily true. He may be Mr. Money In The Bank for now, but, that won't last forever. He may have an impressive record, yet, that will eventually crumble away too. Being a King, and the first ever one at that, is something that lasts forever in the history books. It's about time that I start putting my name in the history books more, starting with being crowned the first ever King of the Universe.Right now, the history books are lacking a lot of the Italian influence that the three specialist can bring. They need to start putting their name in there along with the others. There is no way that the UWF's only three Italians will be lost in the sands of time.GABRIEL ALIGHERI:[/b] For all of those that may be wondering, no. Not at all. This is not just some cover-up to help people forget about my "current" situation. Everyone is always so quick to mention that I've never truly "broken the glass" ceiling and that my run with the top championship was nothing more than a joke. They're always so quick to say that I have nothing else to be remembered by other than only being a paper champion and the "leader" of one of the UWF's groups. They say all that, plus a whole hell of a lot more, to try and get me down or get inside my head, but, what they may not realize is that I might hear what they have to say, but, I don't actually listen to them when it comes to that stuff. I am, and have been for a while now, aware of where I stand within the ranks. It's not exactly the top of the pile and it's definitely not at the bottom of the heap with the curtain jerkers. I'm not as naive as I look. I know that I can be a little bit higher, however, here's the special thing about all of this.......my career in the UWF is far from over. While some Superstars may only have a couple of good months left before their tank officially runs out, I have only just began. The two years I've spent here fly by fast and the majority of the people here know my name. Just think about two more years from now....Two years from now? He usually doesn't think that far into the future, but, he can't help but smile at the thought.GABRIEL ALIGHERI: Like it or not, there can only be one King and, honestly, I'm sure the people would say they'd rather have an Italian king or an American one. There's just a higher level of esteem and fanciness that seems to always accompany anything Italian. What can I say?
