Title: Something doesn't feel right
Andrei Dracul - March 1, 2012 03:40 AM (GMT)
It had only been a few moments since he’d make his way backstage, as he cleared the curtain, his shoulder felt somewhat in pain, but not enough that he would notice, Andrei was not the type to revel in pain, and instead he would embrace it. The fact was he actually had to earn that victory. He was back; he could feel it within his veins. The challenge he needed, it had been there. The newly one title belt was draped on his shoulder and his eyes gave a perplexed notion over the belt he once held. It felt good; it truly did to see the gold again. Like Brittney had said before he was bringing “gold on gold” back. The color of his skin almost matched the belt identically, but the shades were a few hues different. Andrei’s skin was just a tad bit lighter.
The muscles in his body concave almost distinctly as he reached his arm over to grab hold of the strap and pull the belt loose from his shoulder so he could stare at it. He almost bumped into someone and ended up offering a hiss in their direction for rudely stepping in his way after they had seen what had happened, and that was when it caught his eye. He hadn’t noticed it before, but when he had it made an instinctive impact on his heart. His eyes stayed focused upon the belt and he looked down to the name plate. Her name was still spelled across it. Something inside of him turned uneasy as he reached the locker room door. He hadn’t even had to turn the door knob before Brittney ran out to wrap her arms around his neck and offer a sign of congratulations. Her hands played at the back of his head for a moment and he held her there with one arm while still looking down at the championship.
Brittney: “What’s the matter?”
Her voice was questioning as she gave him a stern look. Andrei turned to stare at her, before she noted what it was he was looking at.
Brittney: “Don’t worry they will change that, do you not remember they had Gabriel’s name on there the last time you won it! GET EXCITED!”
She was coaxing him, pulling at his free arm, Andrei was not budged.
Andrei: “That is not it, my love.”
Brittney seemed confused now.
Brittney: “What is it then?! You did it! You beat her like you wanted!”
Andrei nodded.
Andrei: “Indeed I did, the match was exactly what I wanted, except for . . . this.”
Andrei held the title up gingerly, and Brittney seemed confused even more.
Brittney: “WHAT?! You are the only UGH!”
She turned around walking back into the locker room. He followed behind her shutting the door.
Brittney: “WHAT IN THE HELL DO YOU MEAN?! The match was what you wanted, everything BUT the belt, are you insane? Like literally did me coming back here no offer the antidote? Andrei WHAT THE FU. . .?!”
He silenced her in that moment, pointing towards Gavrin’s play room, which now had the light out. The evening was quite late now.
Andrei: “I do not mean to upset you my love, it’s just, it does not feel right. My destiny was not to come here and destroy those who were respectful of me. Miss Nikolayev did not deserve me taking her title away from her. Yes she deserved and amazing challenge and a match worthy of her legacy, but to steal the belt away from a champion who truly deserved it, how can I be happy in that? I mean I am happy, but how can I be truly?”
Brittney shook her head turning around.
Brittney: “You’re a total buzzkill. Sabra would want someone like you holding that belt, if she’d lost to some idiot that is when she’d feel bad. She would WANT you to be happy Andrei. You won the belt because you won the match, that is how these things work.”
Andrei shook his head.
Andrei: “You are not understanding me Brittney!”
She turned around to stare at him now, his voice was stern, which was rare for Andrei. She took a moment to regain her composure.
Brittney: “What is it that I’m not understanding?”
Andrei looked at the title again now, holding it in his hands as if he were clenching it for dear life, he didn’t really know what to say about the thoughts in his head.
Andrei: “You remember how I felt the first time I won this title, I wondered what made this gold so important, and soon after I learned just of its value. What it meant to those who held it, because I also held it. I think you can’t truly understand it until you do, and I made this belt dignified. I held it like a true champion, defeating all comers.”
Brittney nodded.
Brittney: “Yes you did.”
Andrei continued.
Andrei: “Well now I feel as if I took this belt from Sabra, for no intention. It was not my ploy to steal her championship, but it was to face a warrior in the ring that could bring me back to who I was before, but not because I wanted her championship. I wanted to find my passion, my skill, to rid of the poison and be born again much like my Transformation did. I wanted to be the Andrei that needed to prove his destiny. Sabra brought that back. She did not have to put up her title against me. It was not what I wanted. It is not in my duties to take championships away from those who are deserving of them. Gabriel was NOT WORTHY! So I took the championship and made it what it should be, how it should be respect and treated. I made it worth having again, and sabra did the very same thing, she did not deserve to lose it, just because I was able to defeat her. I already got what I needed from her, this belt was not it.”
Brittney seemed confused still as she placed a hand to her hip and looked over towards Gavrin’s room motioning her head back and forth.
Brittney: “You are the one that went on and on about this title’s meaning, and now suddenly it’s not good enough to win it from someone you respect?”
Andrei shook his head signifying that was not what he was saying.
Andrei: “I did not need this title, because I respect her. I respect that she would treat it how it needed to be treated. With dignity, with respect, my goals are going to making these people respect me! I have held this title and I do believe it is the best championship in this federation, but it will prove nothing to them! It will simply be something Andrei has already done. You know this, they will never think of me what they should think of me, until I do the one task I have left.”
Brittney nodded now understanding.
Brittney: “You are really willing to give this up?”
Andrei laughed Shaking his head “no”
Andrei: “I said it did not feel right, not that I would be giving it away my love, I still know it’s meaning, this is just my insurance policy. However, my destiny has been made already and I will prove what I came back to prove. That is not to beat the champions who deserve their titles, but to beat those who don’t. Sabra is someone I respect, and I will let no one take this belt from me until it is resting back around her waist. Otherwise this is where it stays.
Brittney now grew a smile.
Brittney: “Alright, as your manager once again. . . I’ll go speak with Mr. Legend.”
Andrei nodded as Brittney took hold of her coat.
Andrei: “My love, before you leave, do you know where I left that copy of Kir Ianulea. I would like to let a friend borrow it.”
Brittney pointed to his bag, he always carried a book of some kind, this one contained several short stories, prose, etc. from a famous novelist from his country. He read them when he needed inspiration, it also had the English translations for those who did not understand Romanian. As he grabbed hold of the binding he smiled.
Andrei: “Thank you my love.”
He sat down now, placing the championship on the table and still staring at it with his eyes, before soon taking out a piece of parchment paper, and a pen. He began to write.
- - - - - - - - - -
Their time at the arena had come to an end, but he knew that they would be back soon. Sliding the novel into her mailbox as he walked out he smiled. A note dwindling in between the binding. It was written in the most eloquent script, as he held his wife’s hand, and held his sleeping son on the other arm, Brittney carried his championship.
Andrei: “This is what makes me a true champion. Let’s go home.”
Brittney nodded as they walked off, the note still hidden inside of the pages. It read:
“Miss Nikolayev,
I have spoken many times that my destiny was to seek respect for my race. You have given me that and for this I truly have to say thank you. You took me to the extreme and give me hope that just possibly not all human beings are incredibly worthless. Aside from my wife you are the first to have ever shown me such kindness and fierceness at the same time. I truly admire you as a warrior. When I won your championship, it felt wrong to me, to take away something you cherished so dearly, it hurt. I know you must feel the same way, and that is why I have left you this book. It always uplifts me to see these stories of fantasy written in the early nineteen-hundreds. I got the impression that you loved to read when I met you to speak about the ministry. I just have to assure you, you are not the one who opposed my destiny.
As far as I’m concerned even though this title will take my name for a short time I do not believe I will ever receive what I seek until I am able to capture the Universal Championship. There are those who have always doubted me, but you know what I think of this title and its meaning. It is truly something I love, adore, and respect. They however, will never understand. They will continue to say Andrei does not try to fight the toughest fight and you have woken up a new spirit in me. I will always believe that this championship is a part of me, and I thank you for offering me the chance to battle for it, but I will forever, while holding it this time around consider it yours. Your honor, your magic, and your pride. I promise to keep it polished for when I must defend it I will be defending it for the same honor and respect that you have given me.
I am simply stating I wanted to be awakened. I wanted to feel the adrenaline and to know that once again I, Andrei would be the one that everyone needs to beat. This title I feel will be yours however, I must truly knock the unworthy champions off of their steed. Not those who truly know how to treat a belt of this one’s caliber. I shall keep the golden plates polished as I have said, it will look like the same title we made desirable once again, because it is ours and we have held it, but I want you to understand that what I have to do as a being, does not affect the way I feel towards this belt, and towards it’s meaning.
I want you of all people to know this. As I do not care about the rest, your opinion however. I do respect, and wish to keep safeguarded. Enjoy these works, this belt will be yours again soon, I promise.
Your friend,
Andrei.
