The First Contest, Modding Contest!

No, this isn't a contest IN WHICH you mod...but if you win this contest, you can BECOME A MOD!

Yes, I see the excited- or is it power-hungry?- gleam in your eyes. Yes, you think, I'll do anything, anything at all, for this chance!

So what do you have to do?

Well, keeping with this sites theme, you have to write. You have to write a story entitled 'Dragon Wing'. With one catch: the story cannot have a dragon in it.
Not a living dragon that is called a dragon, at least.
And no; a scaled creature that breathes fire and flies but is called a 'drakin' will not win you this contest. It might win you a virtual smack upside the head.
Dead dragons, and/or the parts thereof, are all right.

The stories can be any genre, they just need to have the title 'Dragon Wing' (and the title must make sense in some way, shape, or form) and they must not have a living dragon in them. I'll be taking submissions for a while yet, so take the time to make the story good. But be sure you acutally finish it!

I'm looking for max words of about 7,000, because anything more than that can be a bit sticky.

One last pointer: because of the length of the submissions, they will be personally judged by myself rather then put up to vote. To avoid as much bias on my part as possible, if you know me in real life PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME WHO YOU ARE (hopefully it won't be obvious from your screenname). It will make things that much harder to judge. Because I could, you know, just not like you or something.

Question: is a person allowed to enter more then one story? Like we'd have tme to. Overkill. But are you allowed to have two entries, just in case? Because I have two different ideas for this. Or would we have to choose bewteen the two on which one we like better?

This certainly is an interesting way to get mods, but then, you'd be getting one mod per contest. One mod ain't good enough...

Perhaps the winner can be a global mod and the runner up a mod of one or two boards of their choice?

And when is the deadline? I might just write something, if I can fit it in with my tight schedule of tonnes-of-homework and procrastinating endlessly.

And, um, also, is there a minimum as to how short it can be? Or just a maximum?

Minimum: I'd prefer it to be over 500 words. Anything shorter than 1,000, however, probably won't be blow-your-pants-off awesome, anyway. Unless we have some flash fiction writers.

Deadline: None yet. It depends how many people enter. I'd say you have at least 2 weeks, though.

How many entries: Let's say 2 max. Because I want to see what you do with both of them.

Prizes: Depending on how many people enter, I'll consider Winged's suggestion of 1 Gobal and 2 Sectional, but likely more than one person will enter.
I'll also choose other mods the normal way as the forum grows.

Before we submit our stories here, are we allowed to post them and ask for critique? Or is that frowned upon? And, would that go for all contests?

Yes, you can submit stories for critique first. I'd prefer if you put a tag or something 'Mod Contest' so I know not to read it (and thus prejudice myself, as I said above). "Mod" works.
I'd prefer final submissons to PM.
