It looks good. I can't wait for my gaming club to go see it.

Only problem is Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter. It just doesn't fit. For one thing, I swear Coulter was a blond.

Aside from that, I'm trying to teach myself to be more accepting of movie adaptations. Apparantly my outrage at the butchering of The Dark is Rising and my indignition during Eragon have gotten me a reputation.

Ooo, I can't wait for The Golden Compass either!

I'm very excited to see the daemons. I'm also curious to see how well the movie portrays the bond between people and their daemons.

I didn't know they made The Dark is Rising into a movie! Is it worth going to see?

I haven't seen it, but:

If you want to see the Susan Cooper, Newberry-honors-winning novel onscreen, no.

They have changed EVERYTHING.

For example, Will is now an American. Stephen has been done away with entirely, and the rest of his family are now sort of evil. The Signs are nothing like they were in the book. I could go on...

So no, I wouldn't see the movie as 'the Dark is Rising'. But it might make an okay original film.

*sigh* Sorry. TDIR is one of my favorite books, and this is sort of a sticky issue with me.

Yay! A fellow Dark is Rising fan! I lost my heart to the last two books, seeing as they're set 20 miles from where I live. Just thinking about the film makes me shudder, though...

On another note, I'm really looking forward to seeing how Golden Compass/Northern Lights turns out. (Though the daemons' voices in the latest trailer are a bit worrisome).
