Okay, well I actually sat down and watched this movie over the weekend, and I must say this story kinda makes me mad. It's telling little girls that it's okay to let someone walk all over you and that it's okay to marry a guy that you don't even know because he's rich. I just don't get it. Maybe that's why I respect Belle so much, b/c she didn't let anyone tell her what to do. Plus, she wanted more out of life than to just be some man's wife. She stood her ground against the Beast and Gaston.

While Cinderella, let her stepmother and her step sisters treat her like dirt, in HER house. There is no way I could do that. Plus, Lucifer was definitely as evil as the stepmother. At least in the movie Ever After, while I know that it's not a disney movie, the stepmother gets what she deserved. laugh.gif

I can put a small personal spin on this...since I did grow up with only one parent...if I had lost my dad and he were married...I think I also would've had to live with a stepmother and two children...and just would've tried to make the best of it because that was my family's home...in part it's where you keep your memories...and that makes you want to stay close and take care of it...and I think that a small part of it was the fact that she was alone after her father passed (unlike Belle) and Lady T was her closest link to her dad...and the fact that I think she was the only mother like figure that Cinderella had in her life...Of course that doesn't make any how they treated her ok...but maybe that explains how she dealt with it...that and little mice! lol

wasnt the Disney movie changed from the original story that came out in the 1800s?

i think it's just a story, it was a more innocent time
so not knowing this rich man wasn't as big a deal as it would be today!

i like how cinderalla wore her hair up lol smile.gif i like to do that a lot smile.gif

it's interesting how her dress was blue... not pink....

disney is a way to escape from reality,

though i'm sure girls who grow up with these stories in their hearts can often

find that their real life can't measure up to such happy but vague endings
