He ripped the cloth anyway and sped on with Lani in his grasp. "You'll need to move faster, the fire nation is going to gain on us soon." He said breathing hard. "AANG! These nuts don't pick themselves up, you know!" called the voice of an older boy. "Forget the nuts, Sokka. We need to get out of here now! Where's Katara?" Aang cried out worriedly. "What'd you do to your outfit. I just sewed it up! And who's the girl?" "I don't know, but the fire nation's after her. That's an emergency right?" "The FIRE NATION soldiers?! Why didn't you say so in the first place?! I'll get Appa ready while you go get Katara. She headed towards the stream. Hurry!" he pointed in the direction and hurried over to their camp area to gather up their things. Aang nodded and turned to Lani, "You'll need to follow me now. Can you keep up?"

Katara reached into the stream with her jug that was filling up as the water passed. She heard someone approaching. Her reflex instantly brought up a bubble of water. "Who's there? Show yourself!" "Katara!" "Aang? What's going on?" "Fire Nation, let's go!" Aang, Katara and Lani sped back to the camp site (which was a campsite no longer) and Katara jumped on Appa with Sokka. Aang reached out his hand to Lani. "Come on!" ((Everything's going crazy now that the Fire Nation's here!! Gaaagh! ))

The sun was setting and they glided over the cotton clouds. The flaming village came into view. A sorrowful look gloomed upon Aang's face. He looked at Lani and knew what it ment. "I think we can help..." Aang thought for a moment and confirmed his idea, "Katara, can you help me move the clouds over the village? Sokka, we need to get in closer." Katara nodded and began bending the clouds. Sokka looked at Aang "I thought we were trying to get away from the Fire Nation soldiers!" "But Sokka, the village!" Aang pointed out. Sokka looked at the suffering homes and sighed, "... okay... yip yip!" Oppa turned around just above the cottages. Aang's plan was brought into action. He and Katara pulled the clouds closer and closer. It was working well but it took longer since the force that was pulling the clouds upward was against them. But then again, only two of the three water benders were pulling the masses of water to the burning village...

Lani sighed, and helped them, but knowing that there was yet another bender traveling with them Sokka got frusterated.
"Come on, all of you people can bend...... What is up with that.... I wanto learn to bend!"
Lani rolled her eyes, and looked at Sokka, "It is not that special, my whole family knows that, not really worth crying about....."
Aang and Katara look at the new traveling buddy, and whisper back and forth to each other. "Hey, aang, how do you know her..." "She Just ran into me"

"Did you know she was a water bender?" Katara asked. "No." he shrugged. "Do you even know her name?!" "Umm... Actually I don't!" "Oy..." Katara sighed. "You never know what you'll get yourself into next when you're with the Avatar..." The clouds moved over the town and the Fire Nation troops had finally caught site of them. An older boy in fire nation armor looked to the sky. His scorched eye squinted as his brow furrowed over it in anger. "That bison is the Avatar's! Fire at will!" Flames darted from the earth below and narrowly missed Oppa's tail. "Oppa!" Aang cried, "Can you dodge them?" The large bison grunted and swerved through the sky as rain poured on the little village. The flames decreased both from the houses and from the soldiers. "After the Avatar!" Prince Zuko shouted angrily. "He must have retrieved that water-bender girl from this village... she disappeared just as he took to the sky." he looked at the dampened village and back at the bison. "Men! The girl is with the Avatar! Retrieve them both! This is doubly more important than this mission was before!" His men tramped out of the village and he looked onward and grinned, "Two for one..." Aang relaxed happily upon Oppa's back as they drifted farther from Lani's home. "Do you mind if we say really really far far away from your house for a while? I have a feeling that we aren't going to loose the Fire Nation troops until the next day or so. And even then, they’ll be near your home…” Lani was looking sadly off in the direction of her family. She was quiet and her eyes began to swell. “Umm…” Aang felt bad a little, he didn’t want to make Lani feel dreadful already so he thought hard for a method to break the ice, “…what’s your name?” “Yeah… and why were those soldiers after you?” Katara added. “…and why is everyone on this bison a waterbender except me?” Sokka questioned irritably. Lani wiped her eyes and smiled a little. “I’m Lani… I don’t know why those Fire Nation people were after me though… It’s scary how they move in and wipe out a village like that. I hope my family is okay…” “Don’t worry,” Sokka said out in front, “since you guys put out the fires and the Fire Nation is only after us, there won’t be much more damage inflicted on your home.”
