Oh nice eagle!
I saved a salamander that day too! I decided to go out in my backyard early and clean my pool and the yard. I also wanted to commune with nature and my backyard is the edge of the woods, and it's very peaceful. While I was messing with the pool, I saw a rare blue spotted salamander and checked him, found he was OK and let him go close by. A few minutes later, I raked a second rare blue spotted salamander and she didn't look good. She wasn't wriggling when I touched her. I thought I'd hurt her and saw she was full of eggs, and felt terrible. I brought her in the house, put her in a jar and checked on her a few hours later. She had recovered and was nice and wriggly. I let her go where the other one was, hoping that maybe I'd disturbed them when they were about to mate and that love would find them together again. So I'm hoping that for my birthday, two rare salamanders found love and happiness and I get a whole slew of baby blue spotted salamanders in my backyard. Guess I'll know next year?
