Appalled and really angry.
Well I see there is a children’s version of ghost hunters or paranormal state called “The Outsiders”. This has to be the most irresponsible production to date.

Entities are not toys or fads!
People that have died carry all their emotional baggage with them. The psychology remains the same. Children are not equipped to deal with very adult emotions.
What about demonic influences or the children’s own mental state!

Shame on the creators of this series!

Here is a bit of info I found one New show from Cartoon Network?

"Thursday, May 28, 2009
Cartoon Network Goes Live Action
Cartoon Network is promoting it's summer lineup and I don't like what I see. Four new live action reality shows have been announced and none of them have anything to do with the animation industry!

Show number one, The Outsiders, is basically a teen version of Ghost Hunters or Paranormal State. Show number two, Survive This, is obviously a teen rendition of Survivor. Show number three, Brain Rush, is a trivia show that looks like Cash Cab but with teens and rollercoasters. Last but not least show number four, Destroy Build Destroy, is a Discovery Channel-esque show where teams of teens build and destroy stuff. "

I am all for learning however this is absured.. what is next Teen Exorcist hosted my Bob Larson!?!

I agree the shows sound absurd. I don't like the idea of children going on paranormal investigations. No one knows what they could encounter and what could happen to them. We do our best to protect our children from danger, and now there's a whole slew of shows that are putting them in danger for ratings??? We won't be watching them.

It's hard when it comes to involve children in the paranormal. Because children and animals seem to be more in tune with the spirit world than most adults. I know it may seem absurd to most people thinking that children are niave and would be in danger. It's a tv show. The investigators maybe teenagers however I am sure the audio and visual people will still be grownups and I am sure they would never let the children get in way over their heads with things. You can say or do whatever you feel in regards with this because it is a free country however; you should never stress over something you have no control over. This show and many like it will keep appearing on tv because whether you will watch in awe or watch it because you want to see how kids will react, you will still watch it and the producers will have done their jobs

Just because you can't see it, or hear it, doesn't mean it's not there. All you need is a digital recorder, a camera or camcorder and the knowledge to use them properly.

Cartoon Network died with Toonami. And Toonami died over a very long time.

Long boring painful death.

Oooh! I thought this was about the movie with Nicole Kidman, LOL! I saw this the other day being advertised when my son had the TV on Cartoon Network, and well, I flipped out!! They don't care about those kids it's all about the money, the ratings. Yes let's throw a bunch of kids into a potentially dangerous situation. Argh! I think the thing is the networks don't really believe in ghosts so I guess they figure the kids won't come to any harm. Now there will be 10 million kids out there getting into trouble! I don't like this at all!

I don't know -

We have eight year old preachers - why not teenage paranormal investigators?

I watched an episode - and it's pretty clear that there is a lot of adults around while all of the investigating is going on.

I also suspect that their parents are there as well.

I also want to point out that most people that have to deal with paranormal encounters usually deal with this stuff in the teenage years - with the onset of puberty.

What better way to show other teenagers a responsible way of dealing with what many of them have already experienced, anyway?

I don't know about that and I'll be the first one to say it's a good idea to educate kids about the paranormal. Heck, I've had to educate mine. But I see potential problems with all the kids out there thinking they can run out and become paranormal investigators. Kids are much more open to things. An example is when my son saw a spirit of a little girl in his friend's house. Against my advice this kid got addicted to doing evp work. Now I had a feeling about this spirit from the beginning, all the activity that my son described just seemed to be "too much" for the average run of the mill human spirit. Well, the kid called at 4 in the morning one day, petrified, because the "little girl" was now telling him that if he didn't help her, she would "steal his soul." I took the audio to go over. Both the boys swore up and down that the little girl had answered questions, had sung Mary had a Little Lamb and a bunch of other things. I found none of this on the recordings, only things such as F you in a scarface-like voice and another clip that said, "I'm coming to get the sheep." Young, open and unprotected, I don't think is a good combination. The thing I think is potentially dangerous are scenarios such as my example where 10 million American kids get addicted to EVP work and end up with just the same type of situation. I can only pray that it doesn't happen, but I think using kids to make money with TV ratings is sort of a bad thing too. None of us really do know the potential risks yet, heck none of us know the risks for adults. I just don't like putting kids in a potential risk factor. My son is clarivoyant, we live with spirits on a regular basis, I do try to educate him, but I also try to shield him from potential harm at the same time. It's sort of a double edged sword in a way. I'm under attack and I shield my son as much as I can. I know it's affecting him in roundabout ways, but so far, no attacks on him, and I pray that there never will be. If they really want to see me go bullistic, well that would be the way to do it. I hope he's under the protection of God himself, for my benefit and that he's safe, but I don't know that, and I never will. I protect him the best I can. Do the producers of the show know the risks? Do they protect these kids from them? Can they protect the American children who may try these things on their own? That's what worries me, I have to be honest. If I had a normal life, I probably wouldn't be involved in any of this myself, but I don't, so I am. But I also know the risks and I protect myself. Do these kids really know the risks, or are they just excited to be on TV?

I once accidentally came into contact with a negative entity while my son was present. I said RUN!!! Then I proceeded to follow him the hell out of there. I was not risking my son's safety for anything. I didn't know it was there, I walked into it unaware, wondering why I felt that clawing feeling (at the time I wasn't 100% sure that meant negative entity as I am now) and when I saw what my camera had caught I was afraid for my son more than anything and just wanted him out of there!!! Man did I lay protection on him that day! A mother can't help but fear for children I guess, maybe I'm wrong but it just doesn't seem right to me.

Last but not least, what will the TV network do for these kids if a negative entity attaches itself to one of these kids? Even if there are adults supervising, they can't stop that from happening. I don't know it doesn't sit right with me.

You make some good points.

I'm going to have to think it through some more.

Ill put in simple terms. When people run headlong in things, they get hurt. After watching shows like that, kids believe that ghosts are just people who are still here and it would be fun to get scared. They don't believe there would be an evil side to it (demons, poltergeists, etc) so they are ill prepared. It seems like people only want money now a days. Sure, I want money, but I don't want to put people in harms way because kids are very impressionable at that age and what they see, they want to do.

Oh god, that programme!

My seven year old brother had the misfortune of stumbling across it, I was so scared that night when I tried to put him asleep. I had to assure him all about how it was just a joke, or special effects and how it was really easy to do that and I could do it myself and that they wouldn't send children in to do something like that because it's dangerous.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone but I think that show is the last thing they should be playing on stations like cartoon network associated mostly with cartoons and a younger audience.

There's no reason to be scaring kids like that, I remember stumbling across buffy the vampire when I was eight and I didn't sleep for a week.

I think it's ok, definetly not something for kids though, but if kids are into it and got the proper guidance I think it should be ok for kids to do it. I honestly would bring a minor out to hunt if they were genuinely interested.

It's probably faked though. I've caught glimpses here and there. It seems decently shot though. I'm quite positive though it'll give nightmares, it needs a later time slot. =)

Though they should make something that's geared for kids, to help deprogram that omg demon! reaction and the evil connections thanks to bulls...wood. It's things like paranormal activity and white noise that completely ruins the field....I was asked today is it really like in paranormal activity in the paranormal field...my first reply is no, stuff like that is hollywood, and if you believe what hollywood tells you, then you must think johnny depp really worked the case of jack the ripper, (the movie from hell reference, NOT FOR CHILDREN!) or that de caprio really belongs to the irish american gang the dead rabbits. (gangs of new york, again not for children)

I'd have rules for taking minors out.

1)Try to stick to places children were, stuff like schools, playgrounds, things of that nature.

2)No places where violence took place. No murders, no suicides, none of that.

3)Run down carnivals or circus's or drive ins where kids movies were played.

4)Explain explain explain, do not leave them on their own, their young, and should be treated like a flower, nurtured, taught, helped to grow and blossom.

5) Children are in my experiance often very smart then we give credit for them. I've got a little cousin and she's only 5, she knows the house is haunted. I've gone out of my way to help her cope with it, and understand it. Infact she rather enjoy's some of the spirits. In my family every woman expecially young women in the family, all are visited by the spirit of great aunt betsy who died without any children of her own. The discription is always the same right down to the black funeral dress with big embelished gold buttons with the rose and lily flower patterns on them. She is always seen sitting at the foot of the bed and talk to and protect the young ladies as they grow. My little cousin has seen the shadow of what I persume to be that of an indian, who is accompanied by a strong, smooth mild blend of tobacco. She's said to me several times, I like that smokey man, but sometimes the smoke is too much for me. It's gonna hurt my growing lungs....and she's 5 years old!

6) Only hunt during the day with children. In my mind the darker stuff comes out usually later at night.

--------------------
Beware spirits....you never know where I'll pop up next.... You run, I chase, you chase, I stand my ground, you cuss I cuss more, you slap me, I laugh at you. Throw things at me, throw me through the room, you don't scare me and I will continue to hunt you. Proud member of SIRS www.sirsparanormal.com
