demonology to ghostology

Over the last year, I have had less and less interaction with this field. some being personal reasons, but one major reason, everything seemed to go "quiet" within a short period of time. Today, I was asked about another case in Fl involving a young girl, and i notice a new post on the board asking for help. The number of stories I am suddenly hearing is starting to increase. Has anyone else noticed a lull that seems to be ramping up again?

I had honestly attributed much of this to the rash of tv shows that popped up after ghost hunters, from the ridiculous (i don't name names, but it might be english and at one time lead by and actor/sports figure), to some new guys that seem to be interesting if not adbenturous, to a purely tech based show. as the popularity started to die off, reports did as well. however, i am pretty much removed from any connection and starting to hear things.....so those of you still active, any increase lately? larger numbers? severity?

Our crew has noticed that there seems to be times when the activity has increased.

Jan. thru March this year we had case after case come into us. We had a hard time keeping up. Then late May, pretty much the same thing for about 2 weeks. Then it went back to what I would call normal. Now in the last week, we have started getting requests coming in one after another. 3 in just 2 days, which for our area is unusual.
One thing we have noticed over the past three years, is that there are more children being involved, and especially young boys around the ages of 4 to 7 or 8. It seems every other case we have come in to us now involves a child somehow. This may be because people are watching more tv and accepting that their child might not be seeing imaginary friends. But what concerns me, is that most of these cases with the young boys, there is a disturbing aspect that these children are claiming they are being told to hurt their parents or loved ones. It is so hard working with these young children because they do not fully understand what is happening. We had even considered not taking on cases involving children and immediately seek help for them from people trained in childrens pyschology and other fields. We can go in and find the source many times, but working with the child helping them is a whole other issue. It is scary in a way to see that these children are being influenced by unknown that suggests harm to those they love.

Well, I think part of this trend is also the weather. When it's nice out people spend less time in their homes, so there's less time to observe activity. So I think it's partly that. Also it seems to me that there is more negative entity interaction with human during the winter months. I don't know why, and it's not always the rule, but maybe it has something to do with longer hours of darkness. And like I say, people are in their houses more during the winter.

Now what you're saying about the children disturbs me. Mental illness is a tricky thing. Many times when a child is mentally ill, they will hear voices that tell them to hurt loved ones. At the same time, an entity can do that. I think it's very important when working with children that they be evaluated properly. It's very hard to find people in the psych field who will work with us, but you'd be surprised that there are some who are very interested in the field. I now have a psych consultant on my team, and I can't wait to see how it all works out. But it also seems to me that more children are being diagnosed with mental illness. I hate to say it but I think we will see an increase in this trend. I think humankind has made some mistakes and has tended to make these disorders more prevalent. I have started to think that things such as alcoholism and drug abuse make these traits come to the foreground where otherwise they might have stayed dormant in the gene pool. I don't know if I'm right or wrong on that one, but I do see an increase in the cases of mental illness, and especially in children. Many times people who are mentally ill self medicate and try to control their illness with drugs or alcohol, so it seems to me to be a vicious circle.

So all in all, I think it's a good idea for teams to link up with someone from the psych field. I know, I know, at times it's easier said than done. But it is well worth it. Even if you don't have a child with a mental illness, it does help to know how to approach the problem and where to go from there! Good luck both of you!

yeah I've seen an increase in reports, and I see lulls from time to time. The weather is getting cooler, wich for me seems to be when things lull, it's summer when people from the south come up to escape the heat that I run into increases in activity. However there is one case that seems the opposite. It went dead 2 years ago, not a thing, then it "wakes". Now there is more stuff then I can handle.

I went back before the place got sold 2 months ago, and I'm still going through audio. Loads and loads and loads of stuff. I still have to watch what I put down and where, things still move.

yearly lulls are common, just seems like the number of reports i heard there for a while all but stopped. now, they are exploding. about twice to three times an average over the last few years.
looking across the board, the ages reporting seems lower as well. alot more 19-24 y/o than before. maybe it is an isolated thing. coincidence, if you believe in that.

this was an interesting case though, it didn't become active until the clients son and his girlfriend were left home alone for 2 hours unsupervised, about 20 minutes after she went home, he was calling me. It wasn't until that night it became active. So I wonder if it would of been silent without their playing games. It's the only case that's not in a lull for me now. The rest are...pardon the pun...dead.

Could it also have something to do with school (especially college) being back in session? So much activity is bound to stir things up, and with new people moving into areas that have been either empty for the summer or recently renovated in preparation for a new crop of students, anything that went to rest might be "waking up" again.

could be, could very well be. A sudden change of people flowing into a new place, angering and stiring things up.
