Title: Could Use Some Prayers
Curious - June 5, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
I could really use some prayers right now, as I am just really going through a tough time spiritually right now. I am primarily dealing with a lot of lust and anger followed by apprehension and doubt. My circumstances outside of my spiritual life are fine, but I just feel terrible.
God has done so many things in my life in recent years, and answered prayers that seemed like impossible request at the time, yet here I am feeling too disgusted to fellowship with God.
I haven't been able to go to church because of the high fuel cost as my church is far away, so this is the first time that I am sharing this with anyone. Pray for my deliverance from this spiritual bondage.

You and your family, will be in my prayers.
God loves us, and takes us, as we are.
Do not let Evil thoughts keep you from the Lord.

Dear Curious,
I'm new here, but I am a Christian and I will definitely pray for you.
You said in your post that, "My circumstances outside of my spiritual life are fine, but I just feel terrible. ".....
May God bless you, I'm so sorry you feel this way. But if you don't mind my saying so, this was my first thought when I read that sentence : There shouldn't be any circumstances outside of our spiritual lives.
Now, I'm not big into "giving a Word" or anything like that. I do not pretend to "know" things or to get messages from our Lord...But I have to wonder if there's anyway you could come to see your spiritual life as encompassing everything in your life....not as a compartmentalized thing, but as the totality of your being.
I hope that makes sense. The Christian life is "narrow", indeed, and I am glad you felt strong enough to reach out to people here, for community strength.
My prayers this evening are with you....God bless you!

Curios,
This is a common feeling, all Christians go through trials and temptations
even the apostle Paul relates his trials to us in Romans 7:14
He tells us that : "I do not understand what I do.For what I want to do,I do not do.But what I hate.. I do"
he goes on to inform us:"it is sin that lives in me"
No one can claim not to have feelings as you describe,no matter if they have been a Christian for 70 years or 7 days.
Just relax and don't dwell on the things that our human minds and bodies feel daily.
for the more you try to fight them, the more they will feed off of that feeling.
GOD does not demand that you go to church ,he Knows our hearts..and as Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:6:"when you pray,go into your room and close the door and pray to the father ,who is unseen. Then the father who see's what you have done in secret, will reward you"
GOD loves us no matter what we do.
I will pray for comfort for you.

Curious, while you will indeed be in our prayers,
i would also remind you, the "church" is not a place, and it does not require fuel to get there.
"church" is fellowship with other Christians, anywhere, any time. so if you need some fellowship, call up a friend or deacon, pastor or priest. get some friends into a chat room. You can talk about and learn about God from almost anywhere in the world these days.
(as always for the lurkers out there, be cautious of the cults or self serving types out there, if they want anything more than your friendship, then walk away, they are not real.)

I know, I have spent much of my Christian life outside of the organized church. I have only started attending the church that I currently attend for a little better than a year now. I have come to rely on the spiritual nourishment that I get on Sundays. So much so that I notice that I have cut back tremendously on the amount of time that I spend in Bible study , or in fellowship online with other Christians. (I actually just realized that while typing this post.)
I don't think of missing church as being an affront to God, I just miss my brothers and sisters and pastor. Thankfully we will be going tomorrow.
Thanks for your prayers, I have felt much better the past couple of days. It is just really amazing how what the flesh has to offer pales in comparison to what Jesus gives us when we accept His Life. I remember a time in my life when lust and sex and things like that were the order of the day. Now when I experience these things it is so obvious how horrible and empty these things are.
I am just glad that no matter how bad I feel God still feels the same way about me.
Thanks again.
