The re-deployment of repaired navy ships is a good news but even better is the news that the navy through self reliance program was able to make a 50 cal machine gun automatic or remotely operated. This is very impt bcoz it will lessen casualty but with improved accuracy. It uses camera to focus on its target and a sort of fire control do the rest.
Navy top brass wants this to the standard small waepon on its ships..

instead of missiles, better for the PN to upgrade existing assets with better sensors and more systems of this type like the the ones they're installing on the JACINTO-class courtesy of MSI-Defence.
The Navy engineers must try to do something to protect the assembly from hostile fire, just like the canons on Peacock-class ships.

No protective cover from enemy fire?
I don't know if you read the note below the picture. It says, "an automated 50-caliber machine gun mounted on the deck of a patrol craft equipped with a camera operated from inside the vessel."
So hindi na kailangan ng protective cover dahil the 50-cal MG is NOT operated manually. The personnel who is operating the MG is very well protected because he is inside the vessel.
On the other hand, and kailangan ng protection ay yung camera, dahil pag natamaan yung ng bala, useless na dahil hindi na makikita ang kalaban. I wonder if the lens of the camera is bulletproof.
OR your concern is the protection of the machine gun?

Not exactly the gun, but the assembly that makes it automated.

Plus the wires and the control rods or arms may be damaged also. That's why i was asking if it's possible to put a covering or enclosure for the assembly.

cdf i dont think your navy is that dumb enough to install that gun on the ship without first testing it , if its there then they already have tested it and found it to work ok

12 sold to the Philippines by South Korea at "friendship price" of US $100 each, in appreciation of Philippine soldiers who fought during the Korean War against China and North Korea. These vessels were built between 1975-78 and were transferred to the Philippine Navy in 1993. Armament fits may vary. Owing to its high speed, a naval interceptor task force is currently being formed utilizing 3 of this class to combat high-speed raiders, smugglers and pirates in the southern Philippines.
