"Lieutenant, I truly wish that I could help you," Garak said to the Bajoran, "but I am as baffled by what just happened as you are. I'm afraid I'm not privy to military decisions. Perhaps the good Glinn can help you out instead." He inclined his head and moved away from the small grouping to go check on his shop. After all of the destruction, he hoped he hadn't suffered too much damage to it.

Parr sighed. He hadn't expected the tailor to be forthcoming, and the man hadn't disappointed him. "Glinn Dukat," he asked instead, "do you have any insight into what this was all about? Why did they leave like that, and what are they likely to do next?"

Procal turned his attention to Parr, and shook his head. He honestly didn't have a clue. "It made no sense to me. I don't know why my people would attack this station and risk a war with the Federation. Maybe the wormhole appeared or something." He tapped his commbadge, which he'd placed on his cuff because he was used to using a commcuff. "Dukat to Ops. What is going on?"
Kira sounded more than irritated. "The Cardassians have ceased their fire, she replied. "What was that all about?" Her tone was, of course, highly irritable; that was understandable, given the situation as well as the fact that she despised Cardassians.
"I wish I had an answer," he replied. "I'll see about finding one, however." He turned his attention to the others, shaking his head; it remained a mystery as to what the hell the Cardassians had been doing, and why the hell they'd attacked liked that.

Parr wasn't entirely sure he trusted that answer, but he doubted he'd be getting a better one any time soon. He nodded at that. "Do what you can, Glinn Dukat. I'm sure any answers would be appreciated." Unless they're obvious lies, he thought privately.
"All right people! Let's get a move on finding casualties and with triage. Looks like for the moment at least we're getting a reprieve!" The security team spread out and began doing just that. Cleaning up was going to take quite some time.

Imaru waited until the sounds died down before venturing from Security, instructing Jake to stay put. Only when she was sure that the situation was under control did she go back for him.
"I'm fine," Jake said. "I can get back to my quarters OK."
"Yes, you can," she said, "with me as your escort. Further argument with me is useless."
He scowled and nodded. "Fine," he said, heading out of the office.
When his back was to her, Imaru allowed herself a small smile. She wasn't that much older than he. She remembered all too well how it felt to want more freedom and to be taken seriously. His time would come soon enough. She was not going to be the one who let him out of her sights before he was safe, however. She walked a couple of paces behind him and kept her grip on the broken bottle, just in case.
