Title: YVD - Yu-Gi-Oh! Virtual Dueling
Description: An Online Dueling Program

PhAYSe - May 20, 2010 11:41 AM (GMT)
Taken from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Philippine Forums, this thread will be a tutorial in regards to the installation and usage of YVD, made by sir Grimlock. Take it away Grim!

Hi. I'll show you how to play YVD, a program you can use to duel other people online. Let us begin.

STEP 1:
Download the Installer/Program, for WINDOWS only
http://www.xerocreative.com/downloads/YVD_9_1.msi

Install the program. Just double click on the file, follow the instructions during installation and you're good to go.

STEP 2:
Get the latest set! This set contains every card in Yu-Gi-Oh!

YVD Complete Set (Updated May 18, 2011)

Next follow these steps:
Click on My Computer in your start menu (lower left). All Windows have this, then from here double click on C:, next go to Program Files, next go to Xerocreative Folder, next YVD folder, next drag and drop(Copy and Paste) this file you just downloaded into that folder, a message will ask you if you want to replace the old file, Just click YES, then you're good to go.

STEP 3:
Get the Images, that way it would look like the actual cards with small images inside

Pictures For YVD (Updated 03-07-2011)

Just transfer this file into the same folder as the complete set file, run the EXE and install. It will replace the image folder, so if it asks if you want to overwrite or merge contents, click Yes/Yes to all.

Changelog: Includes updates to STOR, EXVC, JF11, VE03, VE04, DT09, DT10, DT11, DT12, JUMP, VJMP, WC2011, PP13, DP10, DP11, TF05B, YGO8, DDY3 and YMP1

STEP 4:
Get the Token Set, since some cards in Yu-Gi-Oh do need tokens.

YVD Token Set Files

PhAYSe combined the individual cnl and ptcg token files into an EXE file. Just transfer the file into the same folder as the complete set file, run the EXE and install. It will replace the old token files, so if it asks if you want to overwrite a smaller-sized token.cnl and token.ptcg, click Yes/Yes to all.

STEP 5:
Read the Manual: I know most people don't read manuals but this will help you play yu-Gi-Oh online so it's worth it, and the pdf file has pictures thus making it easy to understand.

Now Click on My Computer in you're start menu(lower left) all windows have this, then from here double click on C:, next go to Program Files, next go to Xerocreative Folder, next YVD folder, the double click on this file
YVD USER MANUAL (READ ME!)

STEP 6:
CREATE YOUR SERVER NICKNAME to be able to duel others online using the SERVER

Basically when you click the CHAT Button something like this shows up

Connecting to irc.scrollrack.com port 6667
Connected to irc.scrollrack.com
*** Looking up your hostname...
*** Checking ident...
*** Couldn't resolve your hostname; using your IP address instead
*** No ident response; username prefixed with ~
*** 432 * a Erroneous Nickname: Change your nick using /nick newnickhere to continue connecting.

Now You must type your desired nickname like this

/nick YOURNICKNAME

example:
/nick seven

next there's about 1 minute waiting period for the server to somehow confirm you're nickname,

after that that's when you type
/ns register YOURPASSWORD YOUREMAIL

make sure it's a valid email

so say you want KOBE as your password and BRYANT@Lakers.com is your email, you type

/ns register KOBE BRYANT@Lakers.com

A confirmation email with a code will be sent to your email, enter that code in the YVD area where you type you're nickname,

Your registered Nickname is already stored on their SERVER, type

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password,

then click show chat rooms button, a window will pop up then double-click on #yvd,

and a chat area will open up for you to conduct duel request.

also the next time you visit, just type your nickname(/nick NICKNAME), and enter again

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password,

then you're good to go,

6 Easy steps and you're dueling other people around the world after this.

Enjoy!!

Look for an Opponent using your Browser:
http://www.xerocreative.com/chat-full.html
This link directs you to the xerocreative chat page, where you can request to find duels on the chat client, you still need your server nickname for this,

Use only if you can't connect using your Chat Button in YVD

Duel requests usually go something like this:
"Duel Anyone? / Server / Advance"

If you're using a few OCG cards, It is IMPORTANT to indicate it in your duel request since most players online are TCG players, so for OCG duels, type something like,

Duel anyone? / server / advance / Im Using a few OCG Cards / Pm me if that's okay

or

Duel anyone? / server / advance / Looking for OCG Players,

That's it Folks!

Updated the YVD Installation Steps. It now shows how to create a nickname for IRC so you'd be able to duel people from all around the world now.

I hope you guys get to try this. Its a totally different feeling dueling a complete stranger w/ an unknown deck. Have fun!

Note: 95% of the players there are TCG players, not OCG players, so please be careful in choosing your cards. As of now, they do not have DREV or majority of the DT cards just yet.
