Hopefully that'll be in the same general place as this thread. Looking forward to it. Thanks for doing that, too! |

Oh, yeah. I'll go make a pinned topic that will have all of the completed, paletted, and framed. |

Okay, here's what I need to work with for character editing/insertion for mugs. We'll start with that, since it's a pretty easy thing to do. For this, we'll need sheets of whatever characters we want to insert. Obviously, the colors on the sheets have to amount to 16 or less (including the transparent background).
Credit for those two tutorial images goes to flyingace and NomadicTrooperGirl at Fire Emblem Universe.
First, make the still (mouth closed, eyes fully open), fit in this box:

Split up the image like this. . .

And orient it like this (This is my own image):

Because I'm using that image, I'm going to explain the palette there as well if you don't mind doing some recoloring, too. The first color is the transparent background (The initial color is not important). Next come the various shades of skin tone (There are five on GBA FE mugs), the outline color, then the shades of hair, armor, and armor trim. The palette underneath the colored one is what we need to use to recolor the split up sheet. Each black-and-white box should correspond with the color we want replaced by it. You'll end up with something like this:

After that, there's a separate thing for the mouth animation, but I'll cover that. When you post, do me a huge favor and post these three things: The original sheet, the split-up sheet with both palettes in their proper orders, and the recolored "negative."
Thanks! |
