Title: Advice for real writers
Kayle - April 28, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
When I say
real, I mean people who don't just have a story to tell about their new Navi omg. I don't mean people who think it'd be sweet if my Navi did this this and this. I mean people who look at their Navi and think, "So what's he like in person? Why's he like that?" This is for the kind of people who laugh when their Navi gets in trouble and laugh harder when they get deleted. The kind of people who bury faces in palms when they see yet
another Forte, Beast Out, Colonel, MegaMan rip, yet again another crappy splice with a crappy holier-than-thou attitude and a black hole for a story.
This is for people who want to write a fanfic - and will probably be good at it.
Note that this is actually supposed to be a story carefully written in second person, but I think the ideas communicated are still and excellent way to get one's mind rolling if you haven't got a story in mind.

Anything for a story in first person, or is it pretty much the same kind of thinking?

I'll face it, we only write cause we're dead bored... Well, in my oppinion...

Or because you have an awesome story inside of you that you just need to write down.

Depending on your style, you might write in first, third, or second person. Third person omniscient? No such thing, go first person. Second person? That's kind of hard to do, unless you want to control someone's actions. It's really hard to pull off without making the reader want to slaughter you. Third person's standard, although I'm not quite that good at it.

I like writing in first person. NO GOD MODDING ALLOWED

If you wanna get help from me for writing because I'm more responsive than Kayle, make an AIM and don't be an idiot and pester me like DP does.
Dark Protoman - May 6, 2008 04:33 AM (GMT)

I only bug people when I'm bored. >_>

YOU LIE, IT DOES EXIST.
It's just impossibly hard!
Also, Aro, we just write in entirely different styles. My style, so far, does not put a lot of emphasis on revision.

Third person omniscient is ridiculously hard to do without making it sound uncultured and without flow
