Coolness
Alrighty let's do this like the others: (this is by no means complete, just laying out things for starters) Storm Ground Chain: Punch to Kick (any) Normal Jump (NJ) Chain: Punch to Kick (same and stronger) and Kick to Punch (only stronger) Super Jump (SJ) Chain: Zig Zag 1 Tech hit type: Escape/Safe Fall Weight Class: Light Weight Order: 1st(?), possibly lightest in the game Time to OTG: semi-short; for reference: longest time to OTG is Akuma(glitchy) then Cyclops, least is Sentinel. --Storm recovers very fast from most of her normal attacks, allowing for greater links beyond her usual chains. --Hold upwards when coming down from a jump (super or normal) to and you'll float down slower. In superjump mode, this will make your normal attack recover faster. --Flight (X-Power) has some invincibility during the "spin up". Ground Dash Invincibility: The "wind barrier" that appears around Storm when she ground dashes indicates some frames of invicibility. If you're good at wavedashing you can dash through attacks, and even some supers. (the AI can dash through an entire Omega Destroyer but I'm not sure that's humanly possible, dashing through an Arctic Attack is though). Electric Stun: Storm's punches have an added "electric stun" on them, this means they stun more than the usual punches of her weight class. They also incur a greater pushback penality, and even greater when dashing. Meter Building: If your RTSD isn't working or your have no meter and don't want to risk getting thrown- -Super jump: [Lighting Attack x2 (control direction), Typhoon] x N If you don't get predictable, and change up the number of LA's (1 or 2), the direction, and number of typhoons, you should be able to keep the opponent off of you. Throw in a few X-Wind Push-aways to really keep them off. Beginner Strategies: Lots of new Storm players like to spam typhoons. This might work if used sparingly, or if the opponent is rushing mindlessly. There are also certain characters you can't do this to much at all. Colossus in particular can shoulder charge through them, and when the typhoon hits him, his charge will be brought CLOSER to you, possibly hitting you. Another favorite is to superjump up, float down and mash HP as descending. Here that doesn't gain you any meter (unless it hits or is blocked), but it's not bad for space control provided you keep a reactive eye on your opponent. If it happens to combo as your closing in on the ground (say on a character like Sentinel) the damage is immense. Range Issues: Some of Storm's normal attacks have deceptively shorter range, or smaller hitboxes than they seem. Here are some things to keep in mind: -Standing HK: --Will miss a standing Wolverine entirely (so will stand LP and MP), even if he's walking forward or dizzy. --Will miss a dizzied Omega Red and Iceman Lightning Storm Super: Some invincibiliy on startup, and no real recovery. Ok for chip, gets scaled if it's late in a combo. If you've made an opponent block it, especially if they're not cornered, try to dash in as the super ends. If they jump as it's ending, and your dash makes sparks that are leaving the screen come back onscreen, there's a chance they'll get guardbroken. |
