.: Temporary Characters
Temporary characters can be created in order to expand your roleplay experience - whether that’s because your main character(s) is unable to be in new threads, (due to their current location or a possible time overlap in existing threads) or if you simply wish to try out a new character on the forum.
Rules for Temporary Characters
Can be used for any length of time, from just a few posts to months, if desired.
Are available to accepted members who have at least ten "in character" posts with their main character.
Are available only to accepted members who are able to keep up with their normal character's current threads.
Each member is allowed up to three temp characters at any given time so long as they are able to keep up with posting.
If a temp is no longer needed it must be “retired”. This is a requirement if someone is at their temp limit and they wish to add a new one. For instructions on temp character retirement, see this thread.
We are allowing temporary characters who are captains (Pirate, Navy or Merchant) but those characters will be limited to the AU forum Unknown Seas.
Non-captain temporary characters are allowed to post in any of the RP forums so long as their character is “PotC friendly”. This means regular characters that we would normally see within our RP. (No: AU characters, modern, fantasy, etc)
Admin acceptance is NOT required for temporary character bio sheets. All we ask is that you complete the form below so readers will have some information about your character.
If anyone decides they would like their character moved from a temporary status to a regular character, the full application must be completed and submitted for Admin approval. (Normal rules apply)
All temporary character names will be surrounded by asterisks for easy identification and sorting within the Membership list. (ie. *John Smith*) and will be assigned to the group “Temporary Character”.
You may choose a celebrity for a temporary model but you may not choose one that is already in use on the forum. Also, if a “regular” application is submitted and accepted, and the handler wants to use a model/celebrity that is currently being used for a temporary character, the temp handler must give up that celebrity and choose a new one.
Creating a Temporary Character
Register for a new ID with your temp character’s name, surrounded by asterisks. (nudge an admin to validate the email afterwards)
Fill out the Temp Char Bio Form (see below for the code)
You are now free to RP your temp character. (since admin acceptance of your bio sheet is not a requirement)
