Thud!

You would play it in forum. You would post in turn saying your move and displaying it visually on the board with the new positions.

The Board:
xxxxxddoddxxxxx
xxxxdooooodxxxx
xxxdooooooodxxx
xxdooooooooodxx
xdooooooooooodx
doooooooooooood
doooootttoooood
ooooootxtoooooo
doooootttoooood
doooooooooooood
xdooooooooooodx
xxdooooooooodxx
xxxdooooooodxxx
xxxxdooooodxxxx
xxxxxddoddxxxxx

The Rules:
Noone can move into or through the 'X'.
Players may only make one move per turn.

Dwarfs can either:
Move - A far as they want in any direction
Hurl - A line of dwarfs can shove the dwarf at the front forward in the direction of the line as many squares as the line is long. If they collide with a troll the troll is removed from play.

Trolls can either:
Move - They move one square per turn. Any dwarfs in any of the 8 squares touching the troll's square when it has finished moving are removed from play.
Shove: The same as for the dwarves hurl. Except that they may only do it if they capture at least one dwarf by doing so. They may also immediately capture all dwarves in the eight squares surrounding their final position.

Winning the Game:
The Game ends when either no more captures can be made or one player has no valid moves to make. The players then count their score. The dwarves score 1 point for each remaining dwarf and the trolls for each remaining troll. Then, they start a new game each playing the other side. The cumulative total at the end is the final score.

So, what do you think?

Well, the rules sound good (Movement, hurl and shove etc.). What I don't get is, how on Earth does the board work? Looks like a load of gibberish to me.
