you are invited to the court of merlin !
You are cordially invited to attend a very special evening filled with dancing, drinking, and entertainment in the Court of Merlin. Attire should be relevant to the time period and dates as well as single attendees are greatly encouraged, though there will be no official date sign-up as in the past in order to get the ball rolling on this event. The event will take place between July 3rd - July 31st, after which all active threads will be moved to the past forum where they can be finished there.
Like any event, it wouldn't be half the fun without a twist. Some sneaky seventh years thought of a great way to make sure this party is one everyone will remember, and not by spoiling it with a terrorist invasion. This is an act of peace, a symbol of Britain moving forward, but most importantly, a little bit of mischief. After allegedly spiking the Farcical Fountain of Love with Felix Felicis all week, the thrill-seeking teens have thought of a new way to stir things up. All of the drinks served at Merlin's Court on the night of the party are spiked with Amortentia -- love potion.
Each person who wishes to participate in the event should create an open topic in The Court of Merlin
describing your character having a drink. The first respondent to the thread will be the person your character saw first after consuming the potion, and thus, the person your character will "fall in love with." The respondent has the option of also having their character consume the potion, indicating whether or not the feelings of "love" are returned. Actual effects/feelings of love are only allowed to persist for three
threads, including the one at Merlin's Court, however, the repercussions of whatever took place the night of the party could continue on with your character forever if you wanted them to. Remember, Amortentia cannot create love, only a strong obsession.
We encourage everyone to step out of the box with this. While it does provide an opportunity for long-term relationships to stem from the events, there are other countless possibilities for future plot points. The admins ask that members refrain from "setting-up" their topics by choosing who will reply first, however, if a thread is still open, anyone is free to reply to it, but it will be more fun and unpredictable for everyone if the threads aren't set up before hand. If you're making an open thread in the subforum NOT pertaining to this event, please make sure it's tagged as such.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to direct them through PM to the Merlin ! account.
